  1. As I said in my post, I have also successfully used Dynex. But the particular Dynex ones they have in the ad are the exact same ones that I have that are worthless. Also, I don't think BB will accept a return of an open DVD spindle. I'm just trying to help others as I bought these same ones last year and they're absolutely worthless.
  2. It doesn't have very large aperture openings which translates to smaller f-stop numbers which makes the lens "slower." All this means that you have to keep the shutter open longer or use a flash to capture as much light as you would with a faster lens. The better elnses will produce more detailed, lifelike pictures. Now, the EF lenses aren't horrible. It's not like you'll have bad results with them. But if you do plan on getting serious into photography, I guarantee you both will become unused.
  3. For something that's good quality and nice for an "all around lens," I would reccomend something like the Canon 28-135 or 18-85 IS lenses. OR the Tamron 18-250. Online, you can find these lens for ~$350 and get teh body for $425-$450. That's approximately the same price for a much better setup. The kit 18-55 and that 75-300mm lenses are not the best. They're ok for begineers, but if you want to get serious into photography, both will shortly become useless. I'm no expert on the matter, just getting into DSLR stuff myself, but I've been doing plenty of research lately. This is just my opinion on the matter. Personally, I picked up a used Rebel XT for $300, a used sigma 28-70mm lens for $30 (comparable in quality to the 18-55mm kit lens, and one of the 50mm lenses for $70. This is great fo me beginning, and then once I get more advanced, I'll be getting one of the lenses I mentioned above.
  4. I wouldn't get the Dynex 100 pack of DVD-R's at BB. They have a light blue cover to them. They are dirt cheap, and I have 300 of them, but I've never been able to use them because when I put them in my burner, it says it's an illegal disc. I work in the IT industry, so it's not like I'm a novice or anything either. I have a good burner with up-to-date firmware and I've never had a problem with any media (even other Dynex media) but those DVD-R's that come int he light blue packaging just don't work. I've got 300 coasters at home to prove it.
  5. I already confrimed the Twin Cities are on the list, I'm still thinking of it, but was originally set on the cheaper Garmin at BB. We'll see. I'm just scared of the "no-name" brand and little feedback. But everything seems really nice about the Navigon.
  6. The 75-300mm lens included in the kit isn't that great of a lens. You'd be better off buying a body alone from Amazon or somewhere online that has a good deal ($400-$450) and then spending the remaining on a much better lens.
  7. I'm about half way through "Understanding Exposure" myself as I just got a 350D a few weeks ago. It came highly reccomended by just about everyone. I've also got a "mastercalss in Photography" book that I've had for a year or two that I haven't cracked the cover on. I'm also waiting for the new edition of "The Digital Photography Book" which comes out Jan 5, 2008. I figured I'd rather red the two books I have now and wait for the newer revision since it's so close. I would also reccomend picking up a Canon "nifty fifty" 50mm lens. You can get the f1.8 at Amazon for less than $70 shipped. It's a great lerning and beginners lens that's great for portraits and indoor photography and it won't break the bank.
  8. I wish I had a Staples in my state, it looks to bea pretty sweet unit for $99 especially with lifetime traffic. For $150, I'm on the fence whether to get it for my wife.
  9. I haven't done much looking yet, but am surprised there's really not much talk about teh $400 sony at BB. It seems pretty good for the price, is there a reason no one has mentioned it?
  10. I was thinking of bringing my dlp projector this year and projecting movies on the side of the building. We always have a laptop to watch dvd's, plenty of warm clothes, food, drink, sleeping bags, chairs, games, and of course money and lists. There's a few of us that go and I always set out a gameplan for everyone so we are totally efficient as a team. It's important to get what you want fast and get in line so you're not stuck in that one store for 4 hours while deals at other stores pass you by.
  11. This is truly the start of the holiday season. My wife and I have done BF seriously for maybe 5-6 years now. She loves to wait for the ads and look at them all thanksgiving day. I love coming here to GottaDeal and planning out every little detail and ranking which stores are most important and having an entire gameplan for BF. It's really a blast, we love the deals and how it gets you in the holiday mood.
  12. I have a feeling more folks will do the "extra 10" type deals that we saw last year.
  13. I am in the market for a entry level digital SLR myself and am hoping to find one this BF. I'm hoping to get a deal on the Nikon D40, D40x or th Canon Digital Rebel XT or Xti, we'll see. There's a Sony SLR that's pretty nice too. Has anyone heard of any deals involving SLR's this year? I'm hoping for under $400!
  14. I tried calling in and all the operator did is look online and then said it was OOS. Should I call in again and try to get a different operator, or is this what all of them will do?
  15. Shows OOS for me This is something I've been looking for a deal on for a year and a half, I was going to order 4 of them. I'll check back later just to be sure. I may try shipping it to my aunt in AZ but shipping them back up to MN would probably make it too expensive.
  16. Lol, I didn't even think of ordering online. I'll check it out now.
  17. Darn, I was JUST there to pick up the PVR 150's they had for $50 and a stick of 512mb PC4200 notebook memory for $30. I wish I would've seen this before going. Oh well, there's always hard drive deals to be found.
  18. There's a door on the top of the Wii that opens and has gamecube controller ports on it. I have wireless gamecube controllers, but I haven't tried em out yet. I'm in a dillema as to whether or not to buy an extra wiimote now, or wait till the inevitable redesign. I think I'll buy one now, and if they come out soon, i'll jsut return it to wally world.
  19. Darn, just missed this. Would've been great filler for an order I'm waiting to get free shipping on.
  20. there's really no limit, just one per purchase. At least my local TRU has allowed me to use it as much as I want last year and this year.
  21. I'm honestly not concerned about it, but I don't have kids playing with it. The strap seems fairly strong, and you don't need to punch/swing/push/move the controller violently to get the desired response. I may however hold off on buying a spare wiimote until they redesign them, which I believe they will after what's happening.
  22. There are some in stock near me. Unfortunately it's in the 6th circle of hell traffic wise, so I can't go there after work. I may try to get one there tomorrow on my lunch break though.
  23. Tools, Movies, video games, tech gadgets, etc, etc. The Ipod shuffle is a good idea. I'd get the 1Gb version.
  24. Does it have ot be new? I can go home tonight and scrounge up some fun stuff. One thing I do have new that I'll gladly ship to you are a few of those mini remote control cars and bikes. Those are brand new in the package. I also think I have an old Nintendo 64 sitting around with some games if you're interested in that. Tell me if you want only new or not.
  25. Anyone have any luck getting an extra remote? I haven't even opened Monkeyball or Trauma center, or Rayman, lol. All I've played so far is Zelda. Once I open a different game I'm really gonna be wanting a second remote though.
