  1. No way am I working on BF:shock: . I be taking a PDO so I can shop, have breakfast, then go home and take a nap:D . I just hope this mild Fort Worth November weather holds out for BF.
  2. I got a Mio c310x last year on BF and a Magellan one as well. Can't remember the model of the Magellan but I was convinced in less than a couple of minutes the Mio was the way to go. For my test I had a y-adapter to plug in both units and run them at the same time out on the road. Plugged in the Magellan and then the Mio. The Mio was so fast and easy. It had a satellite lock and I was able to put in an address very intuitively without reading the instructions. My wife is not very tech savvy so whatever we had, had to be quick and easy. The Mio had calculated the route and was spitting out directions:razz: in very quick order. The Magellan? It still didn't even have a satellite lock yet:yuck: !!! When it did finally get one, it was not simple plug and play. It was confusing to program and when I found myself reaching for the user manual that settled it. Back in the box with the Magellan and back to Radio Shack with it. I have never been sorry or had second thoughts about it. The whole family can use it with ease. The built in battery gives 4 hours use. The software for the c220 will be the same. It's not the fanciest one around but it should be reliable and get you where you are going. Isn't that the point of a GPS? We had just moved to Texas last year and this little toy has made getting around very easy. We even took it to Puerto Rico in April for vacation and we got around the entire island with no problem at all. One other cool thing about the Mio, it can be on the seat, in the console, or laying on the floor and it still get satellite signal and keeps right on going. So if you don't want to stick it on your windshield or the top of your dashboard, just velcro it to the front of the dash or console or just about anywhere you like and it'll probably be happy:rolleyes: . Don't think you have to spend a fortune to get something that will do the job. For the same price as some of the others, you could get two Mio's have a very Merry Christmas:yup: !!
  3. Hello again projector fans!! With a projection distance of approximately 15' my SP4805 shoots a 127":eyepoppin diagonal picture if I let it shine directly on the wall (approx 10' wide X 5'4" tall). My screen is only 120" diagonal so I have to adjust the zoom a little bit to get the perfect fit. I have a light controlled situation in a 17' X 19' room and I never feel as though the picture is not bright enough. As I said in my earlier posts; buy this projector and you will be happy 16:9 native, DVI and component inputs, 6 segment color wheel (= no rainbow effects for me:yelclap: ), quiet 2 speed fan, and auto-source detection, and I almost forgot, back lit remote control.
  4. I took my CC model back. Only has composite input and the transfers from my DVR were horrible:mad:;totally pixelated and jaggy
  5. I got got #9 out of 20 at my CC. Have not plugged it in yet, but will do so this week just to test it out and make sure all of the connections are good, etc. I would not wait months before I test out my set (even though I will not be putting it into service until after Christmas); alot more difficult to make a return for a dead TV then than it would be now.
  6. I bought the Astar dvd player at CompUSA. $14.99 after rebate. Found an additional $7.00 rebate here (http://ak.buy.com/buy_assets/retail/pdfs/05Q4/1017-1231kh_multiastar.pdf). Enjoy the extra savings!!
  7. The CompUSA I shop at is in Tampa. 40 minute drive for me, but I don't mind. They always have lots of advertised stuff, very helpful staff, and clearly marked sale items. Tonight I walked in and a guy brought me a cart when he saw that my hands were full. He then asked to see my shopping list and took me around the store grabbing everything I was after. He also helped locate all of the BF items on my list, so I will know exactly where to go tonight at 12am. Too bad you all can't shop at this one. If you are in Tampa, go to the one on Hillsborough Rd.
  8. X1A No HD input = grainy picture + the larger you make your projection, the grainier it will be. "16:9 support" means you will have letterbox bars:( and/or missing picture data while projecting 16:9 sources. The X1A does not list number of segments (on infocus web site)in color wheel. This is very important for rainbow effect which is very noticable in 2 & 4 Seg wheels. SP4805 = HD input:) , 16:9 native:) , & 6 seg color wheel:D . If you are hoping for a big screen experience with the X1A, just don't expect enjoy it much above the 4' - 5' diagonal measurement. With SP4805 I get great picture with 10' 7" diagonal. I would get EDTV 42" plasma before X1A.
  9. I have my SP4805 connected to HD cable via DVI and the rest of my video sources (xbox, dvd recorder, vhs) through my Yamaha reciever which upconverts (if necessary) incoming video to component, and sends it to the projector's component inputs. Note in the link below this unit has a 6 segment color wheel, not 4. I am pretty picky about picture and I have never noticed "rainbow effect" nor has my family. I think you should be sure you can return without problem and then test in your own home to be sure. Just don't compare a lesser projector to this one for "rainbow effect". Got mine on a fantastic deal from Shop at Home one day when I was flipping through the channels on TV a few months ago. $1299 :) including electric screen. Now get 127" diagonal picture for watching movies, and gaming. Looks great for HDTV too! Regular TV looks very good, but not sure how it would look if connected directly to svideo or composite inputs because I never used it that way. The SP4805 will make you happy and keep you happy. As I said before, these other projectors are for industrial workhorse use and the SP4805 is for home use. http://www.infocushome.com/amer/eng/products/screenplay/sp4805.asp
  10. I was really hoping for a great deal on a 50" plasma but nobody has one for under $3000. My media room is just too big for a 42" so I'll have to stick with the old Toshiba big box and wait for prices to come down.
  11. I have the infocus 4805SP and it is a great projector. 16:9. Auto-detects incoming video source. Lots of connections. Very quiet. Rated best by Consumer Reports for entry level home theater projector and I agree 100% These other projectors are more industrial work horse models. You would be wanting to upgrade soon after getting one.
  12. Check the BB ad scan and you will see the 46hm95 model #. Great tv at great price. Don't forget to factor in cost of replacement bulbs though. At CC extended warranty is a good deal because it covers bulb too. Don't know if BB extended warranty does.
  13. I think the 51" Toshiba is a CRT set, not plasma. The 46" is sweet!!
  14. My first BF they had emachine computers for free after rebate at CC. WOW!! They also had flatbed scanners for $49.99 with $50 rebate. They were ringing up with $50 CC rebate and $50 manufacturer rebate. DOUBLE WOW!!!! Got paid $50 to buy my first computer set up, NOT BAD. Ever since then I have been hooked. Now I find this web site and I can't stay away from it. Hope everyone gets 2 of everything they are looking for and nobody get frostbite (Not a problem here in Florida)!
  15. Go for the Yamaha XM ready if you can scrape up the extra cash. The sound is excellent and it is HDTV ready with component video switching. I don.t think the others have HD video switching. Of course, probably all of them will sound better than your TV's built in speakers!!
  16. Hey BF enthusiasts, just thought you should know Sears and K Mart are making other sites pull their BF ads off the web. Maybe they will try the same moves here. Better print your copies, save to disc, write it down, or just carve it into the kitchen table, or whatever. Just do it soon!!
  17. As many are saying, you must have the hard drive capacity for any video editing. Get a 160-200gig (bigger is better) drive and install in your pc. You can easily transfer your current drive to it, or just install as a 2nd drive and use its capacity for editing video. If you can't or don't want to upgrade your PC, you either need to buy DVD camcorder (expensive camera and blank dvd's) or get a stand alone dvd recorder and transfer direct (unedited for the most part) to dvd.
  18. Hi all!! Anyone figure out which, if any, of these DVD recorders have built in TV tuners??
  19. This could be great news!! I must have missed it when I searched. I added the "A/3" to my search and got nothing back. Closest thing I found was the 42MF130 and no HD plasma on the manufacturer web site. Just goes to show the power of many people researching gets better results. Post your eval of this TV if you have time!! Thanks and happy hunting.
  20. Check the BB ad scan and you will see the 46hm95 model #. Great tv at great price. Don't forget to factor in cost of replacement bulbs though. At CC extended warranty is a good deal because it covers bulb too. Don't know if BB extended warranty does. I agree both Toshibas are great TV's. Mitsubishi has a great picture too. It's just the reliability issue. Could be very expensive in the long run. The Toshiba CRT projection TV, though smaller, would have as good or better picture and most likely last longer
  21. According to Consumer Reports nobody make a less reliable big screen TV than Mitsubishi. If you get this one, definitely get extended warranty, or better yet, get a Sony, Toshiba, or Panasonic and save yourself some grief. The Toshiba 51" at BB could be a good choice. My Toshiba 53" HD is 6 yrs old, has been moved across country, get used for hours every day, and has had zero problems. You should get similar service from Sony or Panasonic. And remember the most expensive is not always the best, it just costs more. Do your research before you shell out your cash!!
  22. model # is 46HM95 http://gottadeal.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=9953024
  23. FOR ALL WHO ARE LOOKING AT THE 42" PLASMA AT BEST BUY I advise you check this one out and be prepared for disapointment. I think you will find this is an EDTV with built in HD tuner. The magnavox website does not show any HDTV plasma sets they manufacture. You can find the model 42MF130 for sale at various locations for around $200 more. It also has the built in HD tuner. This one is the 42MF230 so it is probably the same TV rebadged for BB. Notice in the scan it says "42 plasma with built in HDTV". I was very interested in this TV until I checked it out. Could be wrong I suppose, but probably not. Also the reviews I found for 42MF130 are not that great for ED and very bad for regular TV. If you just have to have ED plasma for cheap, get one of the under $1000 dollar models. No HD tuner, but if you are on cable or dish how often will you use the HD tuner anyway? Better to upgrade to cable or dish HD box with DVR instead and save yourself the extra $500.
  24. Transferring to dvd is not difficult using PC. Make sure your PC has the available connection though. Some cams use fire wire and some use USB 2, very rarely both. My Canon uses fire wire and came with a basic editing program which is easy to use. The program allows you to take out all of the mistakes you make and you can even change the sequence of shots if you like. You may also want to check out the ads for editing software in case the cam you buy does not come with any or if you want something more sophisticated. Some stand alone DVD recorders have very limited editing capability, but most have none. If you need to add a fire wire card to your PC it easy and cheap to do so (check Ebay or BF ads for good prices). Windows XP will automatically recognize and install drivers (so did Windows Me for that matter). After editing you can save it back to the MiniDV tape or burn to DVD on your PC. A plus that some cams (Canon included) have is the ability to pass through video from VCR or your old non-dig cam, convert it to digital, and send it to your PC for editing/burning to DVD. Check for that feature if it is something you need to have. I used it to put all of my 8mm cam footage on DVD before I sold it.
