In case anyone else is wondering: Most stores allow 30 days to return TVs, Costco allows 90 on TVs. The prices are AFTER instant savings.

So Amazon started collecting tax here in CA in July. I'm still buying from Amazon though - if the price is the same, I'd rather buy it from Amazon if I'm not in a rush.
