  1. just bought one at WM for like $35 about a month ago, so I would have one to use just for recording AMC and Lost.
  2. I'm wondering, do you have kids??? I didn't know about DDR until my stepdaughter came to live with us. Guess I'm a little behind the times lol
  3. I've been done since BF. Got everything wrapped and under the tree on Nov 27th (except for stepdaughters gifts - they are in my closet, but she thinks they are in my locked, alarmed storage shed hehe) oh, wait, have to buy scratch tix for stockings!
  4. I like the folgers one and the m&m with santa, where red and santa pass out, and the prelit tree one is good too, but my all time favorite commercial is one from during the super bowl 2000 (?). it was for EDS (don't know what they do) but it is a bunch of cowboys who are cat herders.
  5. I bought pny for my old computer, which is why I ended up building myself a new computer. As soon as I put the memory in and turned it on, it started to burn the motherboard. Now for my desktops I have kingston brand, and just bought corsair for my laptop and it is working wonderfully.
  6. I'm looking for the best deal I can find for one or all seasons of Babylon 5. If anyone sees anything please let me know. Thanks for all the help everyone has given me.
  7. We would get all the family together on christmas eve, have dinner and then the grandkids would get to open presents. The kids still at home would get to open one present and the rest would be opened christmas morning.
  8. never mind, just figured it out. in the instance of just the 256 it was dedicating 32 of it to the video card.....now that I have 768 in there, it's dedicating 128. sorry for my ignorance.
  9. sort of OT, but does anyone know why it might say I have 224mb of ram when I check the system, and then when I put in a stick of 512 mb memory with it, it says I have 640?? I'm so
  10. We've had one of the fiber optic trees for the past 3 years, but ours doesn't look like a charlie brown tree. I keep telling him we're gonna get a better tree, especially since his daughter is here this year. But she said she hasn't had a tree for the past couple of years so this is better than nothing and she's happy with it, so i guess we'll keep it for another year. have a wonderful day all!
  11. The issue I had was that they said they couldn't help him because then they would have to help others, but I saw for myself when I was working there the exceptions the manager made for 3 women, 2 who were hurt on the job, and one who broke her leg and hip in a motorcycle accident. He put them doing desk stuff so they could still work. I think it had something to do with him being a him and not a her.
  12. Maybe in your community, but not here. They gave out $10,000 on the day they opened when the tv stations all came out here and haven't given out a penny since then in the two years they've been open. When my fiance was working there and broke his leg, they told him he would have to wait until he could come back full time and do the job he was doing when he got hurt, because they just couldn't be accomadating, because if they did it for him, they would have to do it for everyone.
  13. Most of us that are complaining about the overtime thing, is that they _MAKE_ you work overtime saying you can't leave till you do a certain thing, then another thing, then another thing saying if you don't stay you can just leave now and pick up your final paycheck within 24 hours. And then later in the week telling you you have to leave work early so they don't have to pay you the overtime they made you work in the first place, or you have to come in late, or (like I had to do once) take a 3 1/2 hour lunch but yet you're not allowed to leave in case they need to call you back during your break to help a customer (which you don't get paid for). We get pissed because the _supervisor_ tells us to stay late and work over our scheduled time but then later in the week tells us we need to make sure of our hours and let them know how much we are going to be over so they can arrange to cut our hours later in the week and if we do end up getting the slightest little bit of overtime we will get wrote up for it and it will go in our file and we can get fired for it. It's just all a bunch of
  14. The same as it is any other time of year, margaritas with sauza conmemorativo and grand marnier.
  15. As I buy what I can afford, with all the members of my family it usually means shopping at Wal-Mart. Sometimes it's because I found a good deal (like the laptop) and sometimes its just out of convenience (they are less than a mile from home and have just about everything I could ever need). But I can attest to the low wages. Wal-Mart is one of the biggest employers in the valley here and starting wage is around $7.50 per hour which is not bad for this area. However, when it comes to raises they are very stingy with them. In the year I worked for them I got a $0.40 raise. In the two and a half years my fiance worked for them he went up like a dollar something. He finally got tired of Wal-mart's crap and found a new job. He started at more than he was at after two+ years at wal-mart (even having no experience whatsoever in the field) and at his 90 day evaluation he got a $1.50 raise, and should get another similar raise in like 60 or so more days. To get what he is making now he would have to work at WM for another __7__ years (10 years if you count his next raise). So unless you can get into management, wm really isn't that great a work place. The one we were at would make us work beyond our scheduled time, and then instead of paying overtime for making us stay, would make us take longer lunches, come in late, or leave early. If we were on lunch and the only ones in our departments we would have to come back to help customers, off the clock. Mandatory meetings we would have to attend but couldn't clock in for because it would take us into overtime. In general, wm as an employer sucks, but I'll still shop there because they are the most affordable.
  16. I ordered from them once. The site said the item was in stock but once the order was placed, I was sent an email saying it was on backorder. The order was finally mailed out two weeks later and it took another week and a half to get the order. Just as bad as my current experience with DVDEmpire. I preordered a box set that was due out today. I checked to make sure the order shipped and now the website says the item is on order from the supplier. After many emails and phone calls with the company, they upgraded my shipping to express, are sending two seperate orders (the ones they currently have in stock, and the box set on another). They have assured me once the next order comes in they will send me one of the sets express. Guess I'll find out in a few days when they're supposed to get their next order.
  17. Ya know, I really don't care if off brand parts are used as long as I get the use and performance out of them that I expect. I have bought just about every electronic in my home from WM (except one of the three computers - which I bought the parts and put together myself) and I have not had a problem with any of them. I expect to use this laptop for a couple of years and then once I graduate, get my CPA license, and get a good paying job I will upgrade. This laptop was just something to get me through the tax season (I have to do volunteer work for class credit) and make it possible to take my work to my professors and say 'Help!!!" lol. So far it has been wonderful, the only thing I'm changing is to upgrade the memory. If it took off brand parts to get the price on this laptop so low that I could afford it and complete college and get the job I've been dreaming about since I was 16 and it still works to my expectations, I say go for it. Okay, i'll step off my Have a wonderful day all!
  18. I have the gazelle and it is wonderful! I get a good workout while watching my soap and it has no impact on my knees and hips which are not good due to being rear ended twice while living in Dallas. I don't think I would trade it for anything.
  19. Just having a few days off with fiancee and his daughter is enough of a vacation for me. With 4 senior accounting courses, working 30 hours a week, and helping with a friend's 2 year old, a nice hot bubble batch seems like a mini vacation. lol
  20. If you don't mind, once you get it could you let me know how it's working. I'm looking for something, but wont' have the money for a week or so since I spend so much on BF.
  21. I, like others, take note throughout the year about what people would like and then look for those items. I try to shop on BF because I can get more stuff for the same amount of money due to the sales. Someone once told me they don't shop on BF because of all the people and they thought it was 'cheap' to buy stuff on sale. I explained to them that I can either buy more or a better quality item for the same amount of money she would spend, and she's been a BF shopper ever since. I think about the people I love and the looks on their faces when they open their gifts from me. That makes everything worthwhile. This year was a little different though. The only things I got on BF were for me, and since it was the first time I've ever bought something for myself that was not a necessity, that made me that much more determined to get what I was after.
  22. I've had XM for almost 2 years now (xmas present). I got it for my car for the lonely trips in Utah (no radio stations for 4 hours) and those trips across western Colorado where reception is staticy in the canyons. Mine came with a car kit and for my birthday I received the boombox as a gift. I love it and can take it anywhere (the boombox has a plug or can use batteries)! The only problem is, there are so many channels to choose from I don't know which one to pick. Not sure where the best deal is, but I know I sure wouldn't give mine up for anything.
  23. I must have gotten lucky and gotten one of the rare good ones at walmart (according to your theories, anyway) because my laptop performs pretty much to the same standards as my desktop with its AMD 2.16 ghz processor. I haven't had a single problem with it, and the only change i'm going to make is to upgrade the memory so I can play my two games in between classes. BTW, any ideas out there which is the best memory? I found a stick of Crucial 512mb pc2700 for $45. Is this brand any good? The only thing I've used in my desktops is Kingston.
  24. Finally sat down with mine on Monday, and mine is working great! I love it, have only used my desktop to transfer personal files. Now we each have our own puter and I don't have to worry about getting my homework done before my stepdaughter goes to bed (as the desktops are in her room for now).
