  1. This is what I did twice. I needed two new phones and didn't want to sign a new contract so I went to verizon ( that's who I had a contract under) and noticed the pay as you go phone were exactly like the ones that are on contract but $200 more. I asked why couldn't I just buy the pay as you go but use it on my line? I was told that it wouldn't work they are only for pay as you go. BUNK. Called verizon when I got home and they said of course they will work, so off to walmart I went and bought them for $35 and $50 then came home, went on line and there is an area on verizon where you can change the phone id number and that's all there is to it. But, the pay as you go for verizon are the old software so we went to verizon and had the tech update them buuutttt, he fried my phone so he had to give me one of their $300 phones after all and when my son took his in to have it updated he said he didn't want to fool with it and just gave him one of the $300 phones also. I did tell him we purchased them from walmart. Yipeee no contract but of course that didn't last too long, son just had to have the orange NVey
  2. Thank you. Getting worried I won't find a better deal on laptops before christmas, just hope mine has them in the ad. Sure wish we knew what was there secret sale on the 8th
  3. A family member has had plenty of trouble with toshiba and hp but replaced them with an acer and stated they have had it longer than they had the other brands and has had no trouble at all with the acer. I also read some months ago on C-Net that acer was highly recommended for some models. I am purchasing a acer for my son.
  4. Hey neighbor not too far from you. I over heard a manager and a new cashier in Rainbow City talking about their card. She asked the manager if it was good for anything in the store and she was told it was not good on clearance items, sale items and something else but I couldn't hear. It sounded as though it was up to the store managers discreation. I love that store anyway.
  5. I also purchased the L-Max leapster for my granddaughter but thanks to this board and the advise I returned it and purchased the leapster that came with a game for $30 less than the L-Max system alone. Walmart had the special purchase leapsters with game in a different area than the leapster products. My granddaughter has the leapster that only hooks to the tv and she doesn't use it so I know she will use this system.
  6. I thought it was just me, feeling sort of blue, not excited about BF this year at all. I thought maybe it was because most of my shopping was done but that's not it because I could shop for myself. It's not having the ads to ponder over and check and recheck on what I want to buy. I even have more money to spend this year on BF than I have in the past 3 years but still can't get excited about it. I won't be hitting walmart at all this year. Maybe if I saw there secret items it would have made me go to there store and of course I have found other items to buy while in there but now I made other plans because I can't wait on a secret sale to make plans. Walmart loses my extra cash this year.
  7. I to am glad your DD is ok. I have 2 boys, 1st son was not acting responsible so I pulled him from my insurance and never let him drive my car again. 2nd son, extremely responsible, rolled his own (financed in my name)vehicle on a horrible night when a hurricane way up here in alabama was coming threw on his way home from work about 1/4 mile from home. First thing I did was run to him at the accident and hug the crap out of him. Never forget that phone call the rest of my life. He was trapped in his car with it upside down and didn't even know he was upside down, His dad answered the phone and I could hear him yelling he wrecked and couldn't get out. Came out with just a few stitches to his knee. Thank goodness it had full coverage, we had paid enough on it that after paying the car off we had some left for a new down payment. I know it looks bad now but take it day by day and it will work it's self out. I would say continue with your BF shopping plans but maybe scale back a little if you have to.
  8. My kmart had quite a few in the clearance section marked $16 but ringing up $10 and $12. I went ahead and purchased them seeing I have to work tomorrow and there won't be any left by lunch hour.
  9. I decided to go with the leapster lmax. I found a great deal on the leapster games at kmart. In the clearance section they had lmax and regular leapster games marked $10 and $12. I know they are buy 1 get 1 tomorrow but I have to work and they will probably be gone by lunch hour. Thanks everyone for all the help, hopefully my granddaughter will get a lot of use from it. I found out she has the one that only hooks on the tv but she never seemed interested in it but my son said with it just being a handheld type system she will love it.
  10. Thank you all so much, it will making my shopping sooo much easier and faster now that I know which leapster games to be on the look out for. I was wondering if I purchased the plain ? leapster will the lmax cartridges work with it or will I have to look for ones without the lmax on the boxes. I took a peak at the price yesterday and yikes, after all I already got my grandbabies and still have the smart cycle and cartridges to buy I'm sure I'm gearing towards the cheaper leapster. You all are just great, thanks again.
  11. I am so glad I saw this thread. I just found out my DGD is having trouble with her reading in school and I would like to get her an educational toy for christmas but still wanted her to feel like it was a nice christmas gift. She got the vtech a few years ago the one that plugs into the tv and all she wants is a computer, she's only 6. If I get her the leapster can anyone suggest an educational cartridge geared toward helping in reading or can anyone recommend a toy laptop for a 6 year old? TIA
  12. I do shop kmart and big lots on Thanksgiving Day. 3 years back they handed out gift cards and my son and his family joined me, we were number 7 in line. My gift card was $1 but my son who was behind me got a $500 gift card. The past couple of years they haven't had much of what I needed so I usually just take a quick trip to just look around.
  13. Thanks OP! just got back from cvs. I purchased 5 (3 different) types of addidas deodrant with the 48 hour protection on the lid and they all worked, of course I had used my expired MFC's with it. Not on sale here but still made .71 each profit. Also got 5 colgate at 2.99 each and used .75 x 4 mfc and $1.00 mfc which gives me a $4 profit. Heads up I puchased my wkly zantac on sat 9/1 and bought 2 more for the sept. monthly deal today and no ecb's printed for them. I bought my dh wkly zantac on 8/31, then bought the monthly today and the ecb's again printed out. I'm thinking because I bought the wkly in sept. it counted towards the monthly deal so I'll call them in 48 hours to see if I'll still get the credit being these were two different advertisements. Just wanted to turn a few over, now wish I'd got the colgate or addidas with my last $10.98 ecb.
  14. A few weeks ago a CRT printed for a free pack of 18ct? playschool wipes value up to $1.99, not sure why I had it printed it's been over a year since I bought any huggie's or baby products. I use wipes in the vehicles, at work and around the house so I made sure I picked them up yesterday before the crt expired. Called and got the $1 credit for the mentadent from last week I never received and I had to wait until today to call back to get the credit for the zantac. My DH had to talk to her monday about the mentadent and she said she would have to talk with him about the zantac because the card says MR>>>>, she said I would need to get a card in my name. I already have one. :) Wonder why they give you two key cards and one wallet card for just one person and it seems as though they encourge different accounts for every household member.
  15. just got back from cvs, bought the exact same zantac that was advertised and no ecb's printed. Second week in a row this has happened to me. Off to call cvs if they are opened today.
  16. When we had a new one open and it wasn't long at all before I found items on clearance and I found things cheaper than the store I usually go to. (2 different towns) The only problem I found is the newer store has its act together and they bunch all the holiday clearance items in one large area so it's hard to find that great deal because everyone sees it out in the open where as my other store I visit they don't have a large set area just an isle or two and they still have items left through out the store that I can find deal on.
  17. It's been along time since I've seen any of the .49, .69 or 99 cent deals from staples. Anyone seen any lately.
  18. Ok so I thought I wasn't having a good target day but after I got home (45 min. drive) I found out it was great. I had found a braun ear thermometer and it came up "item not found" so being I do read these boards I took it to a young cashier and she just looked at it a minute after scanning it and said " how does $4.00 sound" I said thank you and asked if she could mark in any kind of way incase she wasn't there when I check out, she did and so off I went for over 3 hours. Couldn't find anything on my list but did find the valentines fleece throws for 2.48, I bought 6 and left 3 or 4. All valentines were 75% off. They had some really cute little girls clothes with hearts on them for $1 to 1.50 but I don't have any little ones that need them. Don't forget to check the socks they are 75% off now also. I was able to find some really cute things in the dollar spot, like those infant t shirts for a quarter and socks for me for .62. Ok now here's the best deal, I took 12 choxie coupons with me and found all kinds so when I went to check out I had 2 things go threw first and then I said I have 12 of these candy bars and I have 12 coupons, well she didn't like me so much then and she scanned all 12 of the coupons and didn't scan not one candy bar. I double checked my receipt and they are not on there and I've totaled my receipt up twice. As I was doing that I notice she didn't ring up the braun thermometer either. So $34.00+ themometer = free, 12 choxie candy bars = free, then $12.00 off my whole order. Yeeeehaaaaa. Did see they had PS2 2 pack games down to 9 and some computer games 2.48. Saw a couple of dyson animals going out the door but scanned and they weren't on sale. Good hunting to all
  19. http://coupons.50webs.org/coupons24/coupon4.html http://coupons.50webs.org/coupons21/coupon3.html here you go, if you can't click on them then go to target website and down at the bottom of the page you'll see target coupon link. Hope this helps
  20. Thank you op, I spent too much time on there trying to decide all I really wanted and what others might like for gifts, I ended up getting that blue bag and the matching cosmetic bag, also got the invent you scent for a gift. also got the free shipping
  21. I've used walmart a couple of times, I printed off a list of their meds and I always look there first.
  22. I went to trussville this morning and did very well. The christmas items had not been picked over yet so I was able to pick up wine glasses 1.49, 4 pack red plates 1.79 and 1.99, air wick plug ins .24, they had two 80 count cascade gel tabs but rang up 12.49, pass. plastic plates .19 each, brats doll .59, backgammon sets .39, mascara .59, hair products for granddaughter ..29 hair product 1.79 gift set, they had those flannel sheets but didn't need or want any, had lots of trees, paper and bows, plus other items. Trussville is 45 minutes from me and I had to go to pell city to get my mother first so it's been a long day but I look forward to going every year. Wish I had found more of what I got at 75% but that's they way it goes. I also really wanted an armoire but couldn't find one. May hit another target tomorrow for the hidden deals. Oh by the way, found some christmas socks in a microwave.
  23. one more thing that some may need or want, they had the green, red, green/white, green/white/red braided rugs for .99 each. They weren't put with the holiday items but had the snow flakes on the tag so of course I scanned. Also a huge pack of wash cloths for .99 also but I don't care for that kind and if I buy them just for cleaning up messes or the car, someone will mix them with my good wash clothes. Happy hunting
