  1. I'm going to Kohl's first--they open at 5:30 and I want the vacuum cleaner, maybe the steam vac and a couple of the Cabbage Patch Dolls for my little nieces and some clothes for the other 2 nieces. Then Probably Office Max, although Staples is right next door to Kohl's. I will probably go to Kohl's, get the dolls, and the vacuum then go to the other stores and come back to Kohl's LOL
  2. They might be--they were last year--I don't remember what it was but when I got to the store they were out (I think it was my son's Palm, but that might have been compusa LOL) so I called my husband and he ordered it online for me :-)
  3. LOL at least now he doesn't have to worry about getting time off to finish promoting his cd <eg> Maybe he did it on purpose so that he would be benched for the rest of the season--is music that much more of a lucrative deal than basketball?
  4. My kids both have prepaid cell phones--if you have teen or preteen on your list that doesn't already have one then they will love you forever if you get them one for christmas LOL
  5. I have on an office chair :-) They were a bit slow, but I followed the directions exactly and finally got my money back!!
  6. I don't like waiting for my money either :-) I hope you like it!!
  7. Oh ok--I was just wondering because I haven't bought anything for my nieces yet--I still can't decide what to get them!! They are 10 and 12 (almost 13) and 2 one year olds--I have the little ones covered--they are so fun to shop for!! but the older 2 I am clueless about. The 12 year old is a bit easier--my daughter is 12 and is helping me, but they are completely different kids.
  8. I think that it will be about the same as every other year :-) The early birds get the worm but there are always a few stores which still have stuff at 10. Last year our WM SuperCenter was open already so no line to push. I just wish they would open the registers early!! The regular WM still had the little appliances, the TV's and the DVD players at 10--I had forgotten to pick up the DVD's that were on sale at the supercenter so I stopped in there hoping that they had them and was pleasantly surprised at how empty the store was!!
  9. I'm just being nosy now :-) How old are your kids that want the Video Now? My kids are 12 and 15. Mine would rather have laptops and portable DVD players (the older they get the more expensive Christmas becomes LOL)
  10. I haven't seen them lower than that-CC has the 40GB one for $249 after $20 rebate with a 15% Gift Card. For the $40 difference between the two versions after the gift card and the rebates it's pretty much a toss up. I think I'd go for the one at Wal Mart though--no rebate forms to deal with LOL. The wal mart price is down to $174.63 for the 30GB Creative Nomad. 30GB of space is a LOT of room for music and files. My laptop's hard drive is only 40GB and it only has 14GB of stuff on it :-)
  11. I actually bought my son this Mp3 player for his Birthday in October (well, the 40GB--but looks the same LOL) and it's great--the only thing he needed was new headphones--the cheap buds that came with it were tinny sounding. It's been great--he takes it everywhere and it holds every CD we own and then some!! I think he's used about 8 GB. It has a metallic case and comes with a cute black case that protects it somewhat--I like it, it's easy for me to read and the software was extremely easy to install on my computer!!
  12. Fred's is a small department type store with a pharmacy--it kind of reminds me of Big Lots or Family Dollar. It's usually fun to shop there every day--my nieces have to wear uniforms to school and they have the dress slacks for $7 and the polos for $5 :-)
  13. I live in the middle of nowhere--but only about 30 miles outside of Nashville. We have a local paper that only prints 3 days a week (MWF) so I've been getting my Thanksgiving ads on the Wednesday before ever since we moved here 3 years ago!! It's very cool! Then I wake up early and get a Tennessean from the general store on Thanksgiving morning too just to make sure that I don't miss anything at all!!
  14. I bought the 2MP digitrex camera from Office Max (DSC-2110) this past summer for my daughter to take to 4-H camp. She took some really good pictures with it and loved it. I was a bit worried about her taking my sony to camp and the old Kodak just didn't cut it anymore :-) It has a little bit of a zoom (I think 4 digital?) and she had a blast with it. I think your daughter will love it!! My daughter's uses AAA batteries and has quite a bit of battery life (surprisingly good, actually) and takes the SD cards (which are really cheap compared to the memory sticks) Don't forget to get her a memory card to go with it and have fun!
  15. I've been doing Black Friday shopping for about 6 years now :-) I absolutely LOVE it!! I think that the best one for me was 2 years ago. I got to Wal Mart and got the kids each one of the cheap DVD players and the bikes, and all the little appliance stuff for my inlaws and mother :-) Then I made it to Sears and got them the 23 inch TV's !! I got the last 2 in the store and stuffed them in the back seat of my KIA LOL That was fun!! I had to take them out of the boxes to make them fit. I bought a Jeep LIberty in April just so I could make all the stuff fit better this year--but now my kids want laptops. I already bought my daughter's--it's the Averatec from CC--I'm waiting for dell to put the laptops on a really good sale again (I had to wait for the cash) to get my son's. He needs the good video card. Last year wasn't as much fun for me. We were celebrating Christmas at my inlaws and had to make all the santa stuff hide in the Kia's trunk so they got the Iquest and a palm. Not nearly as much fun for me!! I did get the 3 cd changers from Best Buy--but still not as cool!!

    Advice on Gamecube

I'm bad--I got my own SP when they came out and then made the kids wait till Easter to give them theirs :-) Mine is the silver one, and they both have blue ones. I play Pinball--I'm addicted to pinball!! I like more of the slash type games--my husband plays all the RPG (currently everquest2 and FFXI online) games but I'm more into the Diablo/Baldour's gate type of games. I also like puzzle games (tetris, bustamove) and am really addicted to pinball on the SP. I am getting one of the DS's for Christmas, but I don't see any games that I want yet.

    Advice on Gamecube

Hi, I'm new, but we own all the systems--my husband is an electronics junkie. My kids are 12 and 15. My son (15) plays the XBox the most, but my daughter plays the GameCube. The games are "cuter". My advice would be to go look at the games and see what you think he'd like more. The Game Cube games typically cost a bit more than the other 2 systems but are geared more to the younger crowd. If you decide to get a PS2, then my daughters favorite games for it are SSX (and all the sequels), Crazy Taxi, and Harvest Moon (it's a farming Sim type game) The first 2 games are also available on the GAme Cube too-most games except the proprietary character games are cross platforming now. We've actually had 3 different PS2's--the first one had a bad sound card, the second had constant Disc read error and now the third has been just fine for almost 2 years, so I really advise the extended warranty on that system!! I didn't have it for the first one, so when it died after 5 months I was stuck with 20 games and no system to play them. I bought the extended warranty with the second one and was really happy that I did when it died after 4 months. The manufacturer's warranty on them is only 90 days. The things I like about the Game Cube are that the games snap into the tray and are better to take on road trips with the monitor thing. It's also smaller so it takes up less room in my car. I like the built in hard drive of the Xbox, and like the additional hard drive that you can buy for the PS2 (my son plays that FFXI) game on the PC, but now he plays it on the big tv, too. Good luck choosing--but it's fun!!
