  1. Kohls has a tendency to mark things up, particularly toys, then take off the same percentage as other stores. So in the end you don't make out as well. Lori
  2. If waiting outside in southcentral PA, jeans, sweatshirt, heavy coat, gloves and hat. If waiting inside 24-hr WM, then jeans, sweatshirt and light coat, leaving my heavy one in the car until needed.
  3. Oh, and our CC does not have an orderly crowd control or system for hot items. At least it didn't several years ago. That was the last time I set foot in CC on BF!
  4. Hmmm. My Wal-Mart must be run better than those around you. It's fairly well organized now for the hot items -- orderly lines and tickets, too.
  5. Since I'm in a smaller market, I usually leave home anywhere between 2 and 3 a.m., depending on if what I want is a really hot item. Left at 2 a.m. last year for the Wal-Mart laptop and was 9th in line for 13 laptops. I would have been 1st, but decided to get my price-matching items before getting in line since we could wait inside my 24-hour Super Wal-Mart.
  6. I go to Kmart for the Gameboy games. Usually don't see anything else that strikes my fancy there. I usually go for the opening or there wouldn't be any left and I can get back home in time to make our meal. We have no Big Lots, so Kmart is pretty much the only store open on Thanksgiving Day here. Our Kmart manager was really nice last year. Since it was extremely cold, he let us come in the little foyer area before the store opened.
  7. I've been going alone for about 8 or 9 years now. My husband stays at home with the kids while I shop. My MIL, who needs a wheelchair out in public, doesn't go out BF and no other family around. No co-workers or friends go out on BF either. At times I wished I had a co-hort to help with the deals, but most times I do fine on my own. I don't have to wait around for anyone else and can make up a new game plan on the spur of the moment if needed.
  8. I usually have to work, but not until the 3 p.m. shift, so I'm out there bright and early at our Super Wal-Mart. Here in this small market, 2-3 a.m. is usually sufficient to get in line. They are still in the process of taking the doorbuster pallets out and deciding where they will go at this time. When I'm done, I can usually get a small nap in before I have to get to work.
  9. I get a week's salary (minus taxes) as a Christmas bonus. It gets automatically deposited the day before Thanksgiving, so it's available for me to use BF. By the end of the day, it's gone!
  10. I go out around 2 or 3 a.m. and am usually back by 9 or 10 a.m. since my husband, who stays home with the kids on BF, has to get to work. This year I may come back a little later since my oldest child is now old enough to babysit.
  11. There were 13 at the supercenter in Lancaster, PA. I was 7th in line at 3 a.m.
  12. OD threatened a lawsuit if their leaked ad wasn't pulled off the Internet.
  13. I got to Kmart at 6:15 and no one was there. By 6:30 more people were starting to show up. Got out of the car at 6:35 and started to line up. Kmart manager told us we could wait inside out of the cold although the store didn't open til 7. Yay! There were about 20 people in line by the time they opened. Didn't bother with a cart and went straight to electronics to get the GBA bundle, as well as Dora and Crash. They didn't have the extra GBA games out on the shelf like they did last year. Had to ask for them, as well as the bundle. After paying for the games, I picked up Cinderella DVD and went to look for the Sky Dancer castle. Finally found the castle after much looking. Then picked up a suit at 40 percent off for my toddler. When I went to ring out, nobody in line. But the cash register wasn't scanning any UPCs, so I was sent to customer service where I was waited on right away. Was home by 7:30. All in all a very happy experience.
  14. From the original Nintendo on up? My ds told me he heard there was, but I haven't seen anything.
  15. Laptop 378 and desktop 398 in Lancaster, PA:bounce_fl
  16. We're given a week's pay - taxes and it's automatically deposited the day before Thanksgiving. Yippee!
  17. You can also get a Gameboy Player, which allows the GameCube to play the same games as the Gameboy Advance. I paid about $50 for it last year. The kids love it!!
  18. Why don't you go to Wal-Mart and try to get it there first since it's open an hour earlier. If not, then you can always pm at the PX.
  19. Go to everstoystore.com. They have some amazing Thomas deals. I got some of the cars in the gold rail series for only $1 each. A large Percy pullback for $3 and a Thomas carrying case for $5.
  20. Oh, I hope they offer these again this year! I give lava lamps a b'nai mitzvah gifts which I have ensribe on the base with the honoree's name and date of ceremony in both English and Hebrew. Beorn's bar mitzvah is this oming September, so he'll be 'doing the circuit' this year. I better stock up if they are on special! I bought a lava lamp at TRU for $7 last week.:)
  21. For the computers and tvs at our Wal-Mart, they hand out tickets which you use to pay at the checkout then go around to the back of the store with your car to load them up.
