  1. Just placed my order for 5 bath towels, 2 bras and 1 queen sheet set. I added some kitchen towels to break the $100 mark and get $30 in Kohl’s cash. I was able to get 15% off and then also use HOMEDEAL10 too. I already know how I want to use the Kohl’s cash so I’m a happy camper.
  2. I’m not going to last until it starts (I’m on the east coast and have to work tomorrow), but will put in my order first thing when I wake up tomorrow. Please post any codes that are working throughout the night, I find that super helpful each year! Thanks and good luck shopping tonight!
  3. Upstate NY: Thursday is a high of 37 and low of 27. Friday is a high of 33 and low of 24. Partly sunny both days and I’m hoping they are right (nothing worse than freezing rain turning to snow, those kinds of conditions make for a lot of accidents).
  4. Target has select board games and card games on sale today (link on GottaDEAL main page) that are a really good deal. None of the ones from the BF ad are as low as the BF price yet but several games are at the lowest prices I’ve seen them listed at.
  5. [emoji15] you guys just burst my bubble. Here I was feeling good that I picked up a few things for my person today and others are done shopping before Black Friday! I need to step up my game [emoji23]
  6. You are very welcome, always happy to help. Feel free to post here or message me if any other questions come up. I know more about crochet than knitting but have done both so can help with basics.
  7. If she is just beginning then I would go with a traditional “worsted” weight yarn and not go too expensive while she is learning/improving her skills. The Loops and Thread Impeccable that is listed in the ad for $1.99 would be a good option. Over time it will be a good idea for her to learn to work with different styles and weights of yarn (also do this on the cheap because this is for practicing) so you could maybe pick up some Charisma style for $1.99 or the other options at $2.99 if she is a fast learner. Solid medium tone colors are easier to learn on but if she seems to pick up on things easily ombré or variegated color yarns can be very fun for scarves. No matter what you do, keep the receipt, as she will quickly learn what she does and doesn’t like, as yarn is a very personal choice unfortunately.
  8. I just watched Netflix’s new animated movie Klaus and thought it was very cute. I think this one could become a kids favorite.
  9. All good reminders on how to protect ourselves for a happy holiday. I purchased a very small bifold RFID wallet to utilize on my vacation so that I could leave my bulky purse at home. I plan on using it for Black Friday as well and I’ll keep it in an inside pocket on my coat for extra security. If you don’t want to get a whole new wallet they make credit card sleeves which I’ve seen at Target and Walmart.
  10. I’m having to become very selective about what I bring into the house. My husband’s dream is to live in an RV full time when we retire, and even though that is a long way off it has made me really look differently at possessions. It seems silly to collect more stuff to only have to get rid of it in a couple years. I’m focusing on things that bring me closer to those that I love, like board games for time together with friends/family and interactive dog toys for time with my pup. No matter where I live these kinds of items will always have a place in my life and home. Other than games and dog puzzle toys, I’ve asked for some craft items. We don’t do a ton of gifts in my family anyway so hopefully I won’t have to come up with more ideas.
  11. Super happy this ad finally came out. It looks like I will have to go both Friday and Saturday since they have different door busters each day again. Hopefully the fabric cutting counter won’t be too terrible.
  12. I hope the ad drops by this weekend so I can finalize my plans. I know they are usually one of the last to post their ad but it seems like that strategy works against them rather than help their sales figures. A lot of people will have already made their attack plan and will just skip HD.
  13. It’s hard to choose, but if I had to rank them: The Muppets Christmas Carol White Christmas How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original animated tv version) Arthur Christmas Miracle on 34th Street (the original version) My husband’s favorites, which I also enjoy are: National Lampoons Christmas Vacation Die Hard 1 and 2 The Ref Other beloved classics that I like to catch but are less essential are: Scrooged Home Alone The Santa Clause Rise of the guardians Now here is the truly shocking part, I have never seen, besides just bits and pieces: Holiday Inn It’s a Wonderful Life Every year I keep saying I will give them a try, but I never seem to have enough time, especially when you take into account all the Hallmark movies I enj.
  14. The 30% off your entire purchase coupon (sale items included but doorbusters excluded) makes for some pretty good deals. I don’t go out shopping in store until Friday but I might place an order on Thursday with in store pick up so I can utilize the coupon and then stop in to pick it up while out and about on Friday.
  15. Sadly one of my flights home has been delayed but I’m trying to make the best of it by brainstorming and researching ideas for my secret Santa. My goal is to have all my shopping done Thanksgiving weekend. On a side note, keep your fingers crossed that we are able to make our connection home. This was already going to be 30 hours of travel without a delay and I’m whooped.
  16. I have never done a multi day camp out with a tent and I feel like it’s something I see less and less of over the years. The longest I have stood in line waiting for the doors to open was just a couple of hours and with the introduction of online shopping I no longer need to do that either. Maybe I will go back to needing to stand in line for a must have item once my niece is older but at this point no one in my family needs a big ticket item (there are only so many TVs and kitchen appliances a person can use/needs). I don’t go shopping until Friday, usually around 5am, but I will start at Kohl’s. After that I’m not sure of my plans as I’m still waiting for a couple of ads to come out.
  17. I have been going through the ads trying to catch up from not having internet access for the last week and I just noticed I’m also waiting for the Country Max ad to drop. I hope the ads drop soon otherwise I’m going to be doing some very last minute BF planning.
  18. The Dewalt bit sets and Craftsman 25 foot measuring tape for $4.98 each (all on page 2 of the ad) would make great stocking stuffers.
  19. Stockings are my favorite part of Christmas morning. They were always filled with surprises whereas the gifts under the tree were mostly things I asked for or needed. Have you talked to you husband and son and flat out told them that you have been really disappointed that they don’t take the time to fill a stocking for you since they know it’s your favorite part of the holiday ? I think sometimes hints are not enough for some people to pick up on and you have to be straightforward and to the point. As for stocking stuffer ideas for boys/men, I like to get accessories to their big gift or small things that relate to their hobbies (like fishing lures/hooks/sinkers/line or golf balls/tees/gloves etc). Then I add some of their favorite snacks like beef jerky, cashews or chips (I prefer Pringle’s chips because the chips won’t get crushed and the canister fills up a lot of room in the stocking without breaking the bank). EDIT: I just looked at the Lowe’s ad and on page 2 they have dewalt bit sets and a craftsman tape measure for $4.98 each. Small tool items like this might be great for a man who is handy around the house. Another Edit: a new phone charging cord or portable cell phone battery pack always come in handy too.
  20. I need Home Depot, Micheals, Joanns and ACMoore. Hoping they get posted soon. So I can finalize my lists and organize everything by importance and opening time.
  21. The 23andMe genetic testing kit for $20 with $20 back in bonus cash seems like a really good deal to me. I know some friends of mine were interested in doing this so I will have to remember to tell them about it.
  22. Rite Aid has buy 1 get 2 free on wrapping paper and on arm and hammer laundry detergent, but I don’t know what they charge for 1 roll of paper or 1 bottle of detergent. Hopefully it’s as good of a deal as what Walgreens used to offer.
  23. When they say 50% off holiday collection treats, is that for any brand that puts out a holiday specific treat (like Zune’s sometimes makes their mini treats in different shapes, like pumpkins for Halloween)? Or is “holiday collection” a specific line/brand of its own?
  24. I’ll try to get the 80 count k-cup deal. A local charity I like to support always has them on their donation wish list and $17.50 seems like a pretty great deal.
  25. Maybe try to change things up a little and see if that helps create some excitement for BF/the holidays. Figure out what made it so special/exciting in the past and take that idea and come at it from a different angle so to speak. Gift giving has evolved over the years in my family. One year we didn’t do presents at all which really threw me for a loop. I had to change gears and adapt my BF and holiday traditions so that it still felt like the holidays but with a twist. Even though I didn’t have any presents to buy that year I still went out on BF with my dad (my usual BF shopping buddy) and we played a game of BF related scavenger hunt/bingo hybrid. Whoever lost the game bought breakfast that morning. It kept the going out on BF with my dad part of the tradition alive even though the shopping part changed drastically (we might pick up one or two things along the way for ourselves or household items but that’s it). And that Christmas morning instead of spending it together unwrapping presents we spent it together enjoying a huge family breakfast (before we didn’t really eat breakfast Christmas morning). It was the being together part and making memories that mattered most, we just had to come up with a slightly new way to do it.
