I wish more stores would offer some different items on Friday vs Thursday. I only go out early morning Friday and it would be nice to have first crack at just a couple door busters. I think it would also encourage more people to be out on each day which would be nice to get to at least sort of experience the crowds of BF of yesteryear so to speak.

Black Friday rings up record $6.2 billion in online sales
budgetsRsexy replied to Brad's topic in 2018
That explains a lot of my personal experiences while out on BF. It seemed like the lines at the in store pick up counters were far busier than the checkout lines in all the stores that we went to on Friday morning. I only had to wait once to check out and there was only one person ahead of me so it was just for a minute or less. -
What did you buy? How were the crowds? Share your experiences!

Had a great time shopping with my dad on Friday morning. We met up at Kohl’s at 5:30am and hit the ground running despite it only being 9 degrees out. Kohl’s - my dad purchased a $9 men’s flannel shirt and $5 socks, used a $10 off $10 coupon so his total was $4 Lowe’s - I picked up the 21 piece Bosch drill bet set for $13 Staples - dad got the $10 gallon of Elmer’s glue that they had on sale Home Depot - I grabbed the $10 Bosch set of 12 spade drill bits in the ad Target - I bought a few prize items and Saran Wrap for the Saran Wrap Ball game we were playing Friday night $5 JCPenney - I returned a pair of jeans and a sweater that I bought the week earlier Office Max - my dad got a cell phone power pack for $8 Old Navy - I grabbed a Buffalo Bills T-shirt for $12.50 By then it was 9:30 so we met up with my mom, husband, sister and sister in law for breakfast. I won our Black Friday bingo game so my dad had to buy breakfast. Afterwards my husband and I went to Dick’s (2 shirts for $36) and then a local pet store ($20 on dog treats). I was home by 12. Overall it was a great day but there were hardly any people out until after 10:30. No one seemed to be in a rush and were just perusing the sales like it was another Saturday at the mall. Even my dad commented that BF as we know it is dead and we’ll be telling the next generation “back in the good old days” stories about BF. -
Just got my shipping confirmation on my last Kohl’s item. So glad my order wasn’t cancelled and that I found out before I purchased the item from a second retailer as a back up plan. Now to spend my Kohl’s cash while they still have deals on Nike and other athletic brands.

By pure chance my dad and I got to Staples right as they were opening Friday morning. We were the 2nd and 3rd people in the door and there was no line behind us. It was kind of sad that it was such a ghost town with employees far outnumbering shoppers. On a funny note, we went in for a gallon of Elmer’s glue for $10 and man the look on our cashiers face was priceless [emoji23]

Wow, that is a huge change from last year. I went to PetSmart 3 times last BF and turned around and walked right back out the door because the line wrapped around the back of the store each time. Ended up ordering what I wanted online last year because it was so busy. I wonder if they took a big enough hit to their profits that they might change things back to the way they were in the past. It will be interesting to see what they put in next years ad.

It seemed like most of my items (sewing notions, yarns and what they label as basic crafts) went up anywhere from $0.50 to $2.00. Unless I have a 50% off or better coupon or sale I just don’t think I’ll be shopping there if I can avoid it. Very frustrating.

GottaDEAL 2018 Black Friday T-Shirt Club Posting Thread

Love the reusable bags idea. Looking forward to the new thread starting up after the forum crowds clear out [emoji106] -
Can’t believe BF has come and gone already. Had a blast shopping with my dad and wore my GottaDEAL shirt with pride. Thanks everyone for making finding the best deals so darn easy.

Managed to pick up a few items for my SS today. Just have to decide on one last thing and order it. Hope everyone’s shopping is going well!

I think it looks great and hope you come to love it. The first year of switching to an artificial tree is the hardest (it seemed noticeable fake like the shape and fullness are too perfect and I felt like I was cheating somehow, by skipping certain steps that were family traditions). You learn to really appreciate them I promise, the convenience is hard to beat. If you miss the smell of a real tree there are some great candles out there and scentsicles are decent too.

Is it just me or has JoAnns increased their prices? When I stopped in the weekend before BF to do a little recon/research on some items it seemed like a lot of my usual go to items were more expensive than I remembered from a month before that. Wondering if anyone else has noticed that or if I just have a bad memory.

I never made it to PetSmart on BF. Did they end up having better sales than were listed in the linked ad? Just curious. Thanks!

We don’t have a World Market in our area but my sister in law was super awesome and picked up some items for me. Cannot wait to see her at Christmas time and pick up my delicious stash of tea from her!

I didn’t plan on going to JCP on Black Friday but I ended up stopping in to do a return from the prior week. There used to be a day when JCP was one of my top 3 stops. I miss their $10 off $10 coupon that came in the ads too. I can’t be at the store at 2pm on Thanksgiving when they hand them out at the door

Yeah, the entire reason we ordered through Kohl’s was because the added Kohl’s cash just made it a better deal overall. That’s awesome that they let you keep the Kohl’s cash if they cancel. I’ll talk to my husband to see if he wants to order through Best Buy, we can always return it if needed. Thanks for the info!

Still waiting for a shipping confirmation for one item I ordered on Thanksgiving. Fingers crossed that my order doesn’t get cancelled. Im contemplating keeping an eye out for a cyber Monday deal on the google home just in case. [emoji848]

Glad that a lot of their BF sale prices are valid through Saturday. I just realized I forgot to grab something in store on Friday and was still able to get it online today at the same price.
-
Thanks for trying. Hopefully they will surprise us all with a good ad in tomorrow’s paper. A girl can dream.

HA! Some people want to make a toast at dinner and others need it just to get through dinner with their families.
-
That would be great of you. Thanks in advance for sharing your recon with us. Don’t feel bad though if things change and you can’t get there tonight after all.

March?! That’s crazy impressive. We don’t have too many people to shop for so my garbage man shouldn’t have too much of an issue. My only concern with online shopping is every year you read about people stealing packages. I still do online shopping but I do in store pick up around the holidays if it’s not too inconvenient.

I’m so glad my husband doesn’t know about this site. He has wanted a sphero BB-8 but not for the regular price, it just wasn’t worth it to him then. Now I can buy it for him guilt free. Yay for not breaking the budget!

I am thinking along similar lines, going with something most coupons don’t work on, like Nike. I’m hoping their BF sale on some items make a reappearance during Cyber Monday when my Kohl’s cash will work.

Thanks, that was super helpful! I was trying to find mine too [emoji106]
