  1. Oooo, please post a picture! The only decorations we do for Halloween are some carved pumpkins [emoji316] I consider myself lucky when I get my husband onboard with some simple Christmas lights in December. He hates the work involved with outdoor decorations.
  2. Im on this sight A LOT but usually I’m just reading threads not necessarily posting. If anything I should post more and then maybe I can win one of the 5 prizes to give my husband as a gift [emoji23] (that’s one way to stay in budget on a technicality)
  3. If you go to the store and order through the kiosk you will always get free shipping, even if you order something that Kohl’s only offers online. I’ve gone to the store just to make an order to get free shipping. You can use any credit card to pay at the kiosk. The only downside is you cannot use as many coupons/Kohl’s cash awards as you would if you order online at home. I think at the kiosk you are limited to 2 codes(?) but don’t quote me on the exact number as I can’t recall for certain. My store kiosks are also located by the shoe and bedding departments.
  4. You guys are making me look bad. I’m getting nowhere with my holiday shopping, mostly because I can’t seem to come up with any good gift ideas. I looking forward to the ads coming out as I’m in need of some inspiration this year.
  5. Thanks, though I can’t take full credit as I found it on Pinterest. I did this when my husband had to be overseas for his job for 6 months a few years back. I wrote a nice personal message in a card included in each envelope too. My husband kept all the cards and still brings up how much they meant to him. Sometimes it’s more the effort and heart involved that counts than anything else.
  6. We only have one TV in our house and I don’t like monopolizing it with something only I will enjoy. It’s not that they are sappy movies, it’s that they are generally super predictable that I think annoys him. Normally I’m bored with predictable movies too but there is just something about Hallmarks holiday movies that I just really enjoy.
  7. If she can’t think of anything she needs maybe you could send her a small care package for the next few month she is away in college (I loved getting mail at school)? Or send her back to school with a bunch of envelopes that she can open at a later date for specific events or times, like: Open when you feel homesick (include photos of family and friends) Open when you need a pick me up (include granola or protein bars or coffee or a Starbucks gift card) Open when you need a break (include a dvd or movie theater gift card) Open when hungry (include favorite snacks or a fast food gift card) Open when you feel adventurous (a gas gift card) Have a card that goes with it explaining it and one thing to open while she is still home for winter break.
  8. There is no way I’ll get to see them all but I already warned my husband that there are 2 that might be Jane Austin related that I definitely want to catch and he’s going to have to suck it up and deal. He was ok with that but any others I will have to record and try to watch on my own time but I can live with that.
  9. I still haven’t seen It’s a Wonderful Life. I keep meaning to but the holidays are so hectic I feel like there isn’t even enough spare time to squeeze in my holiday favorites. I’ll have to make an extra effort to watch it this year, if I don’t they might kick me off this forum [emoji12] I love White Christmas, The Muppets Christmas Carol and the animated Grinch. My husband’s favorite is Christmas Vacation and Die Hard 2 [emoji23]
  10. I’ve been keeping my eye out for this thread. I didn’t join in on the fun last year and regretted it. Not going to make that mistake again! Thanks for hosting this event.
  11. I love convenience as much as the next person but picking out a tree with the family is a part of our holiday traditions I just don’t see me wanting to give up. I have a fake tree but still go out with my parents to help them pick theirs and lug it around and set it up at their house (under the watchful eye of my mom who is the VERY particular about the decorations). That being said this could be really helpful to people where trees are less readily available or are just too busy. During the holidays time is a commodity in very short supply after all.
  12. With online competition steadily increasing I’m hoping that will force the brick and mortar stores to remain competitive. That being said, I’m hoping that we will see the in store hours starting to shift back to later in the day and eventually to Friday in the next several years. With so much shopping being done online I’m hoping stores will realize it’s cheaper to not open the physical stores on Thanksgiving and to just staff their online support people. 13. Totally bought myself some stocking stuffers today and handed them to my husband to give me on Christmas. I don’t normally do that but they were crazy good clearance deals on items I was going to ask for anyway. With the super limited stock at the store I decided it was best to just grab them and used the joint credit card. I even gave him the receipt so he knows how much of the holiday budget I used up (a whopping $10 for 6 items). Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL
  14. Apparently I’m super excited that all the sub forums are open. My husband just interrupted me to tell me it’s too early to be humming “it’s the most wonderful time of the year”. [emoji15] I didn’t realize I was even humming ... but, I’m not wrong. The BF “season” is pretty wonderful! Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL
  15. I can’t talk electronics but I can talk crafts. I’ve seen flannel and fleece fabrics at BF prices several times this year already which seems out of the norm. And Joann’s has been putting out 60% off coupons with some regularity too! Either they are going to have to do better on BF this year or I’m not sure I’ll be all that impressed considering the deals I’ve already seen (and gotten). Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL
  16. I’ve started brainstorming gift ideas but the only person I have an actual list for is me [emoji15] I know it’s only the beginning of September but the lack of concrete ideas for family makes me a bit concerned. I’m done with my coworkers at least (post Christmas sales took care of them). Sent from my iPad using GottaDEAL
  17. Maybe while you are learning you could start out small and do kid sized socks (kids won’t notice mistakes as much probably), or treat them like they are mini stockings for gift card holders. Best of luck!
  18. I’m debating getting a sewing machine this year. I have an idea of which models I’m interested in and have looked at old BF ads to check on prices, but I don’t know if the BF prices are as low as they go. Any suggestions on price tracking sites so I can figure out if BF is the best time to buy or not? Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL
  19. I spent a whopping $8 on myself. The best deals seemed to be on amazon devices and electronics but I wasn’t in the market for either this time. Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL
  20. So is anybody looking forward to the upcoming Amazon Prime Day or Black Friday in July sales? I haven’t had much luck on Prime Day in the past so I’m trying not to get my hopes up but you never know. Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL
  21. I know Lowes and Home Depot have some really good sales around Labor Day but I would bet there will be some decent sales around July 4th too. Good luck appliance hunting!
  22. Me too! I’m desperate for all the threads/conversations to start back up. I don’t know what it was about June that triggered it but I’m in full holiday brainstorming mode already.
  23. Please try not to be sad. My family did a $5 limit this past year and ended up having an amazing time Christmas morning, so much so that we plan to do it again for our next Christmas together (2019). It goes to show that budget isn’t everything. I’m sure you’ll manage to pull it off on a smaller budget with the kids none the wiser. Get creative, be extra thoughtful and start early!
  24. Good point on the times. I don’t usually go out shopping on Thursday, just super early on Friday and we had a hard time staying busy at one point. I don’t want to start leaving later in the morning cause the crowds pick up pretty quickly. It will be interesting to see if more stores will jump on the trend of shutting down for a period overnight. It’s definitely going to take so more planning!
  25. I’m also in the pilot program area. The first downside I’ve run across is that the rewards points money was valid for an entire month. Now that it’s kohls cash it’s only valid for 1 week which I like less. Sent from my iPhone using GottaDEAL
