  1. I did it at Walmart last year too... we thought it would be tough but the rival stores are actually coded into the register ... just don't forget to bring the ads so they can see the prices. That is actually what I used the early ads for the most last year. Typically most stores are closed on Thanksgiving, so if you get the ads early on GottaDeal you can see what will be on sale at the other stores and then go to Walmart on the day before Thanksgiving and see what they have in stock that is on sale elsewhere.... then you know what you don't need to run for on BF, 'cause it'll probably be at Walmart.... (or if you're Brad you can hide what you're going to buy in say an oven or something) Everyone is talking about Walmart and I think Keebelf has mentioned Sears.. did anyone else get another major store to PM on BF that we might not be aware of?
  2. No budget here either, I just look to see what interests me and if it does, I buy it. Unless I'm buying a big ticket item I usually spend a couple of hundred.
  3. I go to Walmart last for the Price Matching part. I did the pallet thing one year, that was horrible. I think they should close the store for an hour or 2 before 6am and let everyone in at the same time.
  4. GameBoy Advance SP's for 69 dollars
  5. As Spongebob would say "I'm ready, I'm ready, I'mmmmmm ready"
  6. Can't think of a best, though last year coincidentally enough our KB was the worst!! They need your manager!! KB store aisles are traditionally so small that you have trouble getting two people past each other with strollers on a normal day. But our KB let everyone in, then half the stuff was up high on a shelf where you couldn't reach or find it, and the sales people had no idea what was on sale. That should be a given on BF. Best Buy is usually a hassle too, not because of organization, but because of the amount of people, if you don't go in and grab what you want and immediately go to a register, you could be there for hours, the lines go to the back of the store. Actually I do remember a best, though it won't be that way this year. We had a new Circuit City (that everyone will think about this year). They had chairs outside for you to sit in, they brought orange juice coffee and donuts, and gave away free backpacks (wasn't their BF deal they just did it, they were like xbox or something). The salespeople came outside before it opened and asked you what you were looking for, and told you where in the store it was. I think because it was new not many people went there, but they will this year.
  7. BF is pretty much the same every year, up at 4am, getting in line, even if there's nothing we need just to be there. One of the most memorable is we got to BestBuy one year and were 8th in line. Instead of going around the building, the line went around the parking lot. When they opened the door at 7am the people at the end of the line were near the front door since the line circled around and they bum rushed the door when it opened, luckily we were one of the first ones in 'cause it was a madhouse and people were getting crushed!! I've never seen people that crazed for a couple of cheap computers and some FAR items!!
  8. Welcome!! You'll love the BF site
  9. I love the new format, but one thing I don't like is the little envelopes on the side that tell you whether you've posted etc are harder to see now, I think it has to do with the colors. Is there an envelope that could tell you that someone has quoted you in a post?
  10. I'm already in the shopping mood..... Each year it is "the season" to me starting on my birthday when my mom and I go down to an outlet mall in Sunrise and spend all day doing our first bout of actual Christmas shopping (I know seems early but how many other times does a mother of 3 kids under 5 get a whole day to herself to go shopping?). My birthday is on Oct 27th, but I was due to be induced on the 18th so we went earlier last year, on the 16th... so now since we have 2 birthday parties and Halloween to deal with we're going on the 8th, so that's my offical kickoff to the BF season!! I'll come back looking to see if the BF site is up yet!!
  11. Absolutely!! (Little Old Ladies beware!!)
  12. That will be pretty cool!!
  13. Sounds like all of our game plans are the same!! My mother and I pour over the ads on Thanksgiving. We rank the stores by what we want, what time they open, and what are the odds they will have what we are looking for left if we go to another store first. KB used to open at 5am so we were always up by 4, but last year they were closed and nothing opened until 6, we felt like we were missing something!! We have to bring the van of course or it won't all fit. Last year we used Gottadeal (and though I couldn't help looking and loved knowing ahead of time it kind of felt disappointing to open that Thanksgiving day paper and have no surprises), I had never done the price match at Walmart though so this year I can scout the ads, then I'll go see if Walmart has the same thing and mark those off my list as the last thing to do. (I just have to remember to get there before 11 or noon or whenever the ad I'm looking at ends). I remembered someone mentioning it last year and found a number of items I didn't get at other stores there and PM'd with no problem, I just didn't do it ahead of time, this year I will. We stop for a breakfast or lunch some where along the way depending on our momentum and finish up about 12pm. Then we go home and nap. While we're out, my husband cooks a turkey dinner (we always go out for Thanksgiving so we never have leftovers so we do our own the next day). My mom and cousins come over for dinner and we have the tree up already, so we all decorate it that night. We have even dubbed the day after "Festivus" (yes after the Seinfield episode even though we have no pole of insults) The kids just think that's what the day after Thanksgiving is called!!!
  14. Cheap computer for the kids to play games on ... and a portable refrigerator for the car

  16. I buy all year round, starting with the day after Christmas. Places like Sams have all their holiday stuff 50% off and some of their gift baskets are not holiday themed so you can give them out year round. I especially use the deals that I find on GD and just put stuff away. It's easy to do that with the little ones, because you can be relatively sure of their sizes the next year, and you know they haven't hit the point yet where you have no idea what their interests will be. I got a deal (I think was from GD) where they had these really nice candle sets for 4bucks shipped. We're talking a bunch of tapers, tealights, ornament and Christmas shaped ones, along with bigger ones in each set. I bought 12 in June, and will use them for Secret Santa's and teachers gifts. The only problem is sometimes I forget what I bought and some people end up getting double... doh!!!
  17. I know it's perfect for my daughter, you have no idea how many times I've turned my back for 4 seconds only to find she has covered herself from head to toe in her sisters markers!!!
  18. This is the regular size one, actually that's the exact one I got.. I think they go for about 15 bucks normally.... the glow in the dark ones go for 25... maybe that's the ones you saw.
  19. I actually bought one today at Target, they were on sale for 11 bucks, I'm sure the folks on this forum could have found them for me cheaper, but I was running out of time!!
  20. Anyone have kids and know the cheapest place to buy a Doodle Bear? I have a soon to be 3 yr old who seems to love covering herself and toys in marker whenever she gets a chance..... this seems right up her alley!!
  21. I think there was a post that ended up being stickied after a while, but maybe on the shopping list or somewhere else prominent a place that features opening times and pricematching info ffor the individual stores as it becomes available for BF... This helped me make my game plan esp since so many stores opened at the same time last year. And finding out that Walmart pricematched was great... we scouted out what items they had in stock that would be on sale at another store and went to Walmart last and just casually picked those things up.
