  1. Yes, depending on what I choose to use that year, my two choices for our tree(s) (had three now I on have two 6' plus my little table top tree. I don't always put them all up.), are blue and silver (old family tradition on my moms side), red and white (peppermint), kiddie (lots of colors, plus all my old Disney, and toy ornaments), candy land (lots of color and candy/sweets themed ornaments), & Victorian (dark/rich colors, beaded garland, ribbons, and old/handmade ornaments). Also depending on how much I want to put up, I also have two nativitys, a Christmas village, two wreaths, and my nutcracker collection.
  2. Agreed the ads have been disappointing. They don't want us to know, they want to be listed as the cheapest without selling a lot at the cheapest price.
  3. Yeah, I know what you mean. My brother lives so far away, and talking to him online just isn't the same. My sister and her girls live all the way on the other side of the country. So it's just me and my parents local. Then add in the fact that my dad had a stroke at the end of last month. So I spent my birthday (which in our family is the kick off to the holiday season) sitting in a hospital room. yeah, hopefully Black Friday shopping will get me in the mood.

    JoAnn Fabric Ad

The ad is light because some of their sale item are on sale now thru Tuesday. I went earlier paid $47 saved $106. Go check your ad for this week, also get the app. 60% off coupon in the app right now.
  5. Ok kinda funny story. It was a few years ago and it was my first real Black Friday, I had done may four stores at that point including Walmart (nuh said there), I had gotten shoved into a rack of clothes over a video game, (I got that same game at the same store later on that night for the same price) and I was waiting outside Joann. Mind you I'm holding my bag tight against me, standing tense thinking when the doors open its going to go crazy. And all the other women there are browsing the ad, chatting about what they want to make, talking about their families, ect. One woman looks over at me and goes "which mad house were you in?" I'm going huh? Then she clarified Walmart or target. Well that started the talk about how crazy other stores get, then the poor new kid for the store gets sent out to pass out copies of the ad, with coupons to anyone that needs one. And then he goes back to the doors to open them and goes "please don't trample me." Which gets everyone in earshot laughing, cause when the doors opened much to this kids surprise and mine, everyone just walked in peacefully no shoving, no running, just all calm and orderly. Til you got inside and found two other employees cracking up over convincing the new kid that he was going to be trampled. Every year I love my Joann stop, cause every year it's peacefull, easy, pleasant shopping, people sharing coupons they're not going to use. Then it's back out into crazy land.
  6. Thanks a lot! Now if only Sears was a little closer to me.
  7. I can't remember seeing any coffee grinders in the ads, my dad broke mine and I don't want to pay a lot for a new one. Did I just miss them?
  8. Harry potter blu-Ray box set, I want it my mom who lives with me wants it and it stops her from going and spending a lot. Though something tells me there will be an iTunes gift card waiting for me too. I don't mind, my mom is getting a gift card for some books, and also a Google play card. It may not be a fancy gift, but it's what she wants. Plus it gives me til Mother's Day to make the fancy gift.
  9. Assuming my mom and I share the money (might as well we live in the same house) this is what we'd get... 2 Sony Blu-Ray players, Walmart $45 each ($90) Samsung 32" smart tv, Walmart $248 ($338) SanDisk 32gb micro sd card, Walmart $10 ($348) Dell tower 1tb hard drive 8gb ram, office max/depot or staples $399 ($747) Keurig k40, target $99 + $25 gift card ($846) Apple tv, staples $79 ($925) Chromecast, Walmart, target, or staples $25 ($950) The rest would be eaten up in protection plans and warranties.
  10. Now the most of the big stores have their ads out, whose ads are you still waiting on? Myself I'm still waiting on Staples, Amazon, Joann, BaM (Books a million), & Petco.
  11. Thx, I know what you mean! Btw on an unrelated note, it's nice to see another Broncos fan.
  12. I know what you mean. We had two big things on our list, both are not great deals, and they are at two different stores. I've gone ahead and given up on finding a good deal on the iPad I want and will be saving up for it after Christmas.
  13. No options for people wanting more than 16gb, and quite frankly crappy deals! $30 gift card on the mini, really. Also you do know Apple is discontinuing the 32gb's right? The new iPads don't even have the option for 32gb. My advice as an iPad user if it's going to be used a lot, save yourself the frustration and get the 64gb, on the new models the 64gb is only $100 more than the 16gb.
  14. Walmart has a nice laptop that'll be online only.
  15. Ok that scares me, my Jeep needs new tires, and I was hoping to pay a bit less. Can I ask where you're getting your tires from?

    Hobby Lobby

Michaels is pretty good. Joann's is the craft store that I wait for the ad of every year though. And their normal coupon policy is wonderful! We have a Michaels, and Joann's here and a hobby lobby opening next month.
  17. Yes and no. I shop for the gifts of people that are local. Though this year I will be getting my younger brothers gift on BF and shipping it to him. I try not to have too much to ship cause that starts getting expensive. Older brother (wife and two kids), ex-sil (2 kids), and the mother of my nephew get e-gift cards. And the only reason for that is the kids, since I have had nothing but a post on FB from them for five years, really it is not that hard to pick up the phone and call! With my sister I'll keep up the tradition of a small handmade gift each for her and her two girls and a small gift card to help buy the little things to fill their stockings, which this year are their homemade gifts from Auntie. They loved the little mini stockings I made them last year, that got filled with candy, and my sister loved it cause now only the little stockings are filled with candy, so less space for their local grandpa to stuff with sugar.
  18. Only thing I've managed to score so far is a $50 gas card for $40 from our local grocery store. Edit: I wish that it would go farther but it's still a deal for me considering the car I have is my dads old v8 jeep. Yes my dad paid more to get a v8 that uses more gas, why because he wanted to drive it up in the mountains and go camping. wanna guess how many times we've been camping since we got the car, none. He got sick a few months later. Oh well I got the car for free, I shouldn't complain.
  19. Ok I get what your saying one person holding the line for people who aren't even there. That's not right. But my father only left the line we were in together, long enough to grab a snack (he's diabetic). I already had my ticket (yes ticket, one total because that was all I was getting at that store, he wasn't getting anything there), yes the tickets had already been passed out my father did not have one, and when the lady who worked at the store tried to hand him one he said no. When he came back from getting his snack, someone behind us started yelling about him being a line cutter, and trying to get us kicked out of line, and my ticket that I stood in line for that whole time taken from me. The people directly in front and behind us told the store clerk that, no that wasn't fair, I had only one ticket, and had been there the whole time (unlike the loudmouth). I still lost my guaranteed in store spot, and had to pay for my item and wait a month for it to get shipped to the store. All I'm saying is that's not right either. If the group is only getting one of the items that the line is for, why should it matter if someone else from their group shows up to keep them company, I'm still putting in my time in line.
  20. As someone who used to take someone with me, one thing I gotta say is sometimes that "line cutter" is just rejoining their family/friends.
  21. Camp out no! But I do leave mid-day Thursday, and come back mid-day or even a little later Friday. Thank goodness for coffee!!! Then I sleep late Saturday.
  22. I hear you! We want those ads!
