  1. I live nowhere near a Kmart, has anyone ever shopped online for BF with Kmart and care to share your experience?
  2. You should start praying now that your bosses put you nowhere near the towels and sheets. Believe it or not those are the 2 things that seem to cause the biggest fights. Not to be a downer, just sayin' :-)
  3. I don't mind because Thanksgiving isn't a big all day deal in my home, but man. The earlier it is the more random people come out instead of the hardcore Black Friday crowd and I hate that. I guess I better get ready for every teenager, toddler and baby within a 50 mile radius to be in the store with their inconsiderate and Black Friday uneducated parents. Blah =/
  4. On the Kindle Fire it says $30 back in coupons, I wonder what that means.
  5. I completely agree. It's not people who save and plan all year anymore, its anyone who just happened to see the newspaper and wants something to do. More drunk people, teenagers looking for trouble, people with their entire gaggle of kids etc. They just get in the way, slow things down, get angry/impatient because they don't understand the flow of things and made last year a crap experience. I'm sure stores will keep their 10pm or earlier opening times and I will shop regardless, but it has taken a lot of the fun and camaraderie out of it.
  6. I've been BF shopping since 2007, I had no need for it until I had my son. Now as I am getting older and now engaged I have my son, step kids, in laws, nephews etc. to buy for. Ah the days when I was 21 and only had to buy for myself =)
  7. I wait for Black Friday, but do have a few toys picked up off the clearance aisle hidden in the closet for my kiddo. I love the holiday shopping season too much to shop year round, BF and all the sales get me in the spirit
  8. Kids have no place at Black Friday shopping. I got hurt last year at Wal-Mart over SHEETS! Head smashed into the pallet and nail ripped clean off. In my small town Wal mart by people I see and know to boot. People have no shame whatsoever, I would never bring my child. I saw TONS of kids last year and when I say kids I mean everything from newborns to toddlers to grade schoolers. I blame it on Wal Mart starting at 10 pm, that time is much more accessible to people who have never done BF before and perhaps have no idea how crazy it can get. Get a baby sitter, talk a friend into coming and parking your kids in a basket in the juice aisle- whatever you have to do to keep your kids out of the fray.
  9. I live in a very small town and yet I managed to get my head slammed into a pallet and at least one child that I saw got hurt when the basket their parent was holding got over turned by people pushing and rushing. I don't know what a good solution would be, but I personally don't think taking young children out is responsible.
  10. Babies and toddlers belong at home-period. No toy or doorbuster is worth a child's safety, but clearly many people just don't give a damn. You can plan all you want, they can be the best kids ever, they can be in the cart but what can you never plan for? All the other people in the store and what they will do. THAT is what is risky. You don't know if the person standing next to you will act civilly or use pepper spray and I have yet to hear a reason making taking small children to BF okay.
  11. That police office looks REALLY familiar... I think that was my store!
  12. Ours was ugly too- I have scrapes and bruises all over my head and face after getting slammed into a pallet then trampled. I heard there were fights, but none that I saw. Even in a smaller town people get out of control.
  13. I got to Wal-Mart about 8 pm and stood around the pallet for the 600TC sheets which were right next to the towels for $1.88.... bad idea. Me and my line mates had a system all worked out, but per usual people pushed up right before 10pm and were extremely aggressive. I got my head SLAMMED into the wooden pallet, my hair pulled and people were on top of me. Luckily someone pulled me up, but I have a huge red marks on my face and head from it. I had a team with me and we all ended up with what we wanted there, but damn. IMO the 10pm sale brought out Black Friday newbies who didn't have a clue who things worked so they just decided to loudly mention how they would punch, kick and do whatever for what they wanted. That kind of aggression just isn't needed. Kohl's was a breeze- in and out with everything. Target was a total joke- the check out lines were insane so I didn't even bother. I did a lot of shopping online before I left so I wasn't desperate to get any one item.. except the sheets and boy did I pay the price. My head ACHES.
  14. It really depends on the store. In my experience they have a pallet full of the smaller toys, limited quanities of the ride on type toys/bikes and plenty of the houseware things. I hope you are bringing a team with you because it is nearly impossible to get everything you want solo if you are wanting toys and houseware things. Good luck to you! Wal-mart can be crazy, but for me it is always worth it and I am out the door in under 30 mins with everything I want.
  15. You don't need near $1,000 to start out. I second Freshia, 60D is a lot of camera. A beginner DSLR is the way to go. Even if you do really get into it and learn your craft it will be a long time before you outgrow it. Heck I started my business on a xsi : D. Good luck to you!
  16. Black Friday isn't a good time to invest in a DSLR. The deals usually aren't very good and involve a bundle of things that really you don't need. What type of use will you be getting out of the camera? I'd suggest B&H (bhphotovideo.com), get a body only and then a 50 1.8 mm lens. Now if you are just getting it because you want a camera and don't plan on really investing time/money into honing your skills then buying a camera with the kit lens will do you just fine. If you plan on developing your skills and see where you can go with photography then save yourself the time in line on BF and money and shop at a store devoted to photgraphy such as bh or even a wolf or ritz. 50 1.8 mm is a prime lens ( no zoom so you have to move your body closer or farther from the subject) but it produces exceptional images. In a nutshell- Black friday is not a good time to buy a DSLR unless you want a bundle of things, but any money saved is eaten up by the "bundle" which you may not really need. Hope this all makes sense :)
  17. Anyone else have any luck pulling up the map for their store? I have searched and searched and can't seem to find where it is available. I went to walmart.com, found my store, the ad is there but nowhere do I see an option to view map.
  18. Since they aren't opening at midnight ( thank God! ) this will be my stop for sheets/ pillows vs Kohl's. I've been first in line for Kohl's the past 3 years, but now I doubt I will even stop by.
  19. how does one go about getting on the mailing list for coupons?
