  1. if i wanted one of those items (tv for example), i'd buy one, bring it out to vehicle, then go back in to buy a second one if i really felt having 2 of those tvs was what i wanted.. so it'd be 2 separate transactions - very likely still under the 1 hour window. bring cash for both and no way to track who purchased.
  2. the back of the map given away at my local walmart says the following: 'in an effort to make your holiday shopping experience effortless and enjoyable we have placed all other sale items close to the area where they would normally be found. happy holidays!' so to answer your question, the item you seek should be with the other cameras/camcorders in the store you frequent. in my store, the camcorder will be in the electronics department. i did actually have that same camcorder on my 'possible want' list. so i'm still debating on it, but i don't know if i will be able to get it because i want/need to be at a different store for a higher priority item(s).
  3. i think that was the year i waited in a toys r us line all night (i was pregnant with third kid then) - my boys both wanted leapsters. i remember reading 3 books in their entirety. it was a wonderful night. i was alone (with many, many MANY other people, lol). i did go to walmart afterwards and picked up cheap dvds though. don't remember now what they were. . .. . fun memories!
  4. really liking some of the ads posted in meijers flyer! is the item listing going to happen for meijers or is it too small a store to have a 'shopping list' option for it?
  5. $1K to spend just on Black Friday? Here's what I'd do: <table border="1"> <tr> <th>Store</th> <th>Item</th> <th>Amount</th> </tr> <tr> <td>Gamestop</td> <td>3DS Bundle & Nintendogs</td> <td>$169.99</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Gamestop</td> <td>3DS Bundle & Nintendogs</td> <td>$169.99</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Dollar General</td> <td>Craig Portable DVD Player</td> <td>$35.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Dollar General</td> <td>Craig Portable DVD Player</td> <td>$35.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Dollar General</td> <td>Craig Portable DVD Player</td> <td>$35.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Jo-Ann</td> <td>Cricut V1 Personal Electronic Cutter</td> <td>$79.99</td> </tr> <tr> <td>HHGregg</td> <td>Sony Full HD Camcorder w/ Projector, 25x Optical Zoom, 2.7" LCD</td> <td>$299.99</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Family Dollar</td> <td>Sentry Portable Light</td> <td>$5.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Meijer</td> <td>Play-Doh 24 pack</td> <td>$7.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Meijer</td> <td>Hungry Hungry Hippos</td> <td>$13.00</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Best Buy</td> <td> Nikon Coolpix L610 16MP Digital Camera, Black w/ Free Case & Memory Card</td> <td>$149.99</td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td>TOTAL SPENT (before local taxes)</td> <td>$999.95</td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> i don't understand why it's not listing as a table. should be. so here's the list again w/o html code: Gamestop 3DS Bundle & Nintendogs $169.99 Gamestop 3DS Bundle & Nintendogs $169.99 Dollar General Craig Portable DVD Player $35.00 Dollar General Craig Portable DVD Player $35.00 Dollar General Craig Portable DVD Player $35.00 Jo-Ann Cricut V1 Personal Electronic Cutter $79.99 HHGregg Sony Full HD Camcorder w/ Projector, 25x Optical Zoom, 2.7" LCD $299.99 Family Dollar Sentry Portable Light $5.00 Meijer Play-Doh 24 pack $7.00 Meijer Hungry Hungry Hippos $13.00 Best Buy Nikon Coolpix L610 16MP Digital Camera, Black w/ Free Case & Memory Card $149.99 TOTAL SPENT (before local taxes) $999.95
  6. not pregnant, but i remember when i was shopping a bf in 2005 and i was VERY pg with second kid due in jan (btw he was 11 lbs at birth). (i don't birth babies, i deliver preschoolers, lol). we joke that all my babies come out ready to work. i would suggest packing a small lunch - with a box/can of juice (real stuff, not those fake capri sun or whatever), some carbs, and some proteins. (package of crackers with peanut butter or cheese) works well to meet both carb and protein need) i found when i did the long overnight thing, drinking a couple hot coffees, etc., that by the time i was standing in the checkout line i was very shaky and felt close to passing out came on suddenly!! - i am still thankful to the person in line behind me who had a soda in their pocket that they gave me - i apparently needed the sugar because soon after drinking it i felt ok, but it was really scary at the time. (this was before best buy sold snack items at checkout) so now i always pack those items - even though i'm not pg - and have no plans of more children, because that was not a scenario i ever want to repeat. it was really scary. i've never needed that juice and crackers, but who knows, i might someday or someone in line near me might. then i could pay it forward. btw, i got that computer. lol. it was a great computer! i recently gave it to a friend this past summer who needed one so it's still going strong!
  7. did you know you can easily customize most any laptop? they call them 'skins'. actually my kids personalized all the laptops in our house with holographic stickers. i've had many compliments on some of their 'work'. lol. (dollar store!) i actually put holographic stickers (butterflies) on my coffee travel mug (thermos brand) and i've had folks asking me where i got it so they could buy one, too. might be something to keep in mind as an idea - so you can focus on innards (specs) of computer, instead of color. i've not seen a pink one though - and unlikely to see one for a door buster i would think - because there would be low demand for it. if you go to amazon website and type in laptop skin you'll find all sorts of options. i know this wasn't the answer you were hoping for, but perhaps it would prove helpful. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=laptop+skin+pink is a link to amazon with search of laptop skin pink. saw some very cool ones!!
  8. yep, i've been doing it that way for years. actually didn't realize how long this thread was til someone commented on it. in my perspective, all i see is the most current post on top. click 'settings' (top menu bar after logging in), then left menu bar 'general settings', then scroll down til you see 'thread display options' and then you select thread display mode 'linear - newest first'. scroll down to bottom and 'save changes'. voila. you will now see most current posts on all threads. makes it really easy to read new info in short amount of time.
  9. my first suggestion - find out the minimum specs on whatever games she's really into. then buy a laptop based on those specs (but boost the ram as high as you can win 7 really does really really well on 8 gigs of ram (my husband is a gamer dude - plays these online games - and he has 8 gigs and never complains about speed issues - only occasionally do i hear about our internet - but that's not anything we can do anything about, that's trees falling during storms, lol.) we have a laptop we bought last year from walmart - before black friday actually - was just a regular laptop 15 inch screen. was win 7. came with 2 gigs of ram. worked ok (netbook class processor actually) but this week my husband went ahead and bumped it up to 8gigs ram - oh, wow is that making a difference in his 'puter!) that computer was $278+tax ($299 after all fees) at the time. when my son and husband come home, i'll check the netbook/laptop and edit this post to add in the laptop model number info. (edited to correct price - i found the receipt) - aspire 5749 is the model. it is a netbook class laptop (what that means is it looks like a laptop (15.6 inch screen) but has a slower processor in it - netbook class. honestly, for everything we've done on it, has not been a detriment. it does have a dvd player as well as hdmi outputs, many usb's, etc. my son is homeschooled - actually uses an e-school and this 'puter has worked awesomely for that. he doesn't have many storebought games on it though. he's more about flash games. i have used that computer for my college classes at times when needed and it has worked well to do all i need - email/net/online classes/graphics rich projects/term papers/spreadsheets/some power point stuff, that kind of thing.
  10. officially getting excited - best buy has the first 3ds bundle offering. (red case, mario game) $149.99 (who knows what kind of rebate thing is involved - the ad makes me wonder.) but i need 2. so i'm hoping it's not a rebate thing - one/per household kind of gobbledy gook. (i have 2 boys, very close in age - and have same tastes and interests, so they want the.exact.same.stuff. they even have their own language - which is adorable - but odd, 'cause they're not twins.) the ad: page 8 (i think) or perhaps page 9) http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/BlackFridayScans/BestBuy/9 http://i.gottadeal.com/blackfriday/images/bf/BestBuy/GottaDeal-BestBuy-BF2012_9.jpg
  11. we have his and hers garmins. don't remember model number (they're in the vehicles) but they have lifetime maps and traffic. i get an update every 3 months it seems. (i have teh software downloaded to this netbook and it'll pop up letting me know there's an update when one is released, so i really am not sure how often - but it seems like i had 2 this year thus far. . . .) i love mine!! i cannot imagine doing all i do as a mom w/o it. emergencies, change of plans, no problem! one day my car broke down as we were leaving a science museum (closing time) in a town an hour away. i simply looked up local libraries nearby (so i had someplace safe to entertain the three little children) while i got messages over to the spouse to come help. it was that day i knew i would never live w/o a dedicated gps again. i never freak anymore about how to get from point a to point b - and i have some pretty long drives on a regular basis. when researching it, i discovered magellen and garmin were same map source, and tom tom was a different. i liked the magellen/garmin sources better. don't ask me why, now. it's been a couple years since i read up on them. something i think is fun - is that garmin has voice recorder thingy - i recorded my son at age 6 and he's often the voice i hear as i drive local. it makes me smile every time. esp his little silly comments he added - like 'feet, stinky feet'. just goofy stuff like that. it was fun for us to sit together at the computer, do the recordings, then upload it to the 2 gps's as an add'l voice option. just remembered i bought them from amazon. so here's what i own: they're model 1350LMT http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZX8B0U/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i02
  12. anyone else disappointed by the lack of 3ds bundles in the released ads thus far? (wondering - should i create new thread for this - it's a hand held video game, so not sure if it should have own thread or belonged in the all inclusive 'video game' thread).
  13. we are written budget people, so we have set aside a specific amount of money for christmas in total - including stocking stuffers as well as gifts. i pull from the envelope thruout the year to purchase aforementioned items. there are 2 items i'm specifically looking for, for black friday or whenever i see the best deal - i want to buy two 3ds bundles. so i have enough for them still in the envelope - even at current prices.
  14. i am hoping that lack of news means it hasn't happened yet and it's next saturday. they have an online specials going, but last year, it was all hush hush until last minute, so i'm wondering if that will happen again. we bought our living room tv at super saturday last year - it has turned out to be our favorite tv - really good deal - and has the best sound of all the tvs we have! (but we may not be best judge of sound, 1/2 of family is Deaf.)
  15. My favorite thing about Black Friday is the anticipation.
