  1. I think it's getting kind of out of hand. I like a good deal, but Thanksgiving is a day that we spend with family and friends. I will get up early on friday and maybe pay a couple extra dollars for some of the stuff that I missed out on at TRU.
  2. Im headed over now. I wear a 2x since I'm tall, so the shirt isn't that important to me. Plus since I have my own printshop I can cheat and make my own tee sshhhhh....lol
  3. Yea I forgot to mention the shirt. I'm sure I can't fit it but it's a nice collector.
  4. Im planning on using that special to get Black Ops tomorrow. Is there anywhere I can find that $10 gc for spending $75 or more? Or is that long gone?
  5. Darn sold out. We were about to pick this and the Dippin' Dots Maker up at TRU, but this would have saved us $5 on the Blizzard Machine because it was 19.99 at tru.
  6. How old is she? Every year we would drop off all their lightly used toys and such to the local daycares.
  7. LOL. Smart girl. Any tool benches on the list for this year?
  8. Every year around this time we go out and collect the toy catalogs from all the local stores. This is about the time of year that the girls (DD8 and DD5) go on Santa watch. They start tracking there behavior, finally start listening to us the first time we ask them to do something, (ok maybe the 2nd or 3rd), and the most important start putting together their list. Last year DD5 just grabbed the toy books and circled every page in the book. I asked her to go back and only pick what she really wants. She came back 10 minutes later and every page was still circled except an X across the pages with baby toys because she said "baby stuff is annoying, and she's a big girl." Fast forward to this year. I explained to them that they can't just circle every page again. So first up is DD8. She is such a girly girl and anything in the book that was pink she picked. Easy enough for santa to make a list off of that. Next is DD5. I asked if she circled every page again. She told me me no, "I put a check on every page!" I explained to her that she can't possibly want every toy in the book, some of those are for boys. Her reasoning for doing so was genius though and I wish I thought of it as a kid. Her answer was "I know but if Santa brings me all that stuff for free, I can sell it to the boys in my class and buy lots of more toys." Coming up with the list is always so fun and also so painful in our house. Please feel free to share your Christmas list stories.
  9. im sure Brad or one of the other mods will put it where it goes. I was putting it in the store specific section. There wasn't anything that I needed in the ad as I already have enough computers. But the HD camcorder deal wasnt bad.
  10. haha you beat me to it. I was just making a thread and decided to check once more before I submitted it.
  11. We started last weekend by accident. We took the girls with us to TRU to pick up the Big Toy Book. While we were there we took a look around and they had a 2 day sale on bikes for fri-sat. We were there on sunday so I figured we had missed the sale. We had the girls test the bikes, DD8 is big enough for a mountain bike, and DD5 is ready to upgrade also. Figured we should get the sizes now so we can pick some up on BF. An employee asked if we needed help and saw that the fri-sat tags were still on the bikes and said if we want she would honor that price. That was nice but we had the girls, and that's when i remembered their layaway. So we put the 2 bikes on layaway at the sale price while the girls were with us and they have no clue. At least thats 2 gifts down.
  12. That's the one thing I'm unsure about. the girls are used to the big day with the cookies for santa, the reindeer food, and the presents. Although they are really appreciative and don't ask for much we always go overboard. I think we as parents kind of set the children up with these expectations. Thanks for the input, because I'm in the same boat. We only know the traditional holiday and haven't tried anything new. AAgggh decisions.
  13. Everyone knows the song there is no place like home for the holidays, but how true is it? This year DW and I were thinking about doing a mini vaction with our girls, DD5 and DD8. We have 2 choices, either stay in Manhattan and do the NYC Christmas. The other is to stay in a private house in the Pocanos, PA. If we do go away we will exchange a few gifts but it won't be the big christmas' like we usually do. I'm kind of torn because I love playing sleep when the girls run in to wake us so they can see what santa brought and the traditional stuff. I also would like to try something new and have the girls experience something different. So I'm kind of wondering if anyone has traveled and spent christmas away from home? Also how does it compare to being home?
  14. wow 500 pages in most of these catalogs! and I thought the 100 page catalogs were overwhelming:eyepoppin
  15. Oh Holy Crap Yes the name sounds funny, but it's really good. It's a mix of chocolate, caramel, and peanut butter layered and cut into squares. Sort of a homemade Snickers Bar. We make them every Christmas Eve along with the Sugar Cookies for Santa. Don't quote me on the exact amounts of ingredients because I have more fun cooking by taste. I'm such a rule breaker. 1 cup milk chocolate chips 1/4 cup butterscotch chips 1/4 cup peanut butter 1/4 cup butter 1 cup white sugar 1/4 cup evaporated milk 1 1/2 cups marshmallow creme I use Fluff 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups chopped salted peanuts (optional, I'm not a big nut fan) 1 (14 ounce) package caramels 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream 1 cup milk chocolate chips 1/4 cup butterscotch chips 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter DIRECTIONS Lightly grease one 13 x 9 inch pan. To Make Base: Combine 1 cup milk chocolate chips, 1/4 cup butterscotch chips and 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter in a small saucepan. Cook, stirring constantly, over low heat until melted and smooth. Spread into the bottom of the prepared pan. Refrigerate until set. To Make Filling: In a heavy saucepan melt the butter over medium-high heat. Stir in sugar and evaporated milk. Bring mixture to a boil and stir for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the marshmallow cream, 1/4 cup of the peanut butter, and the vanilla. Add the peanuts, and spread over the base layer. Refrigerate until set. To Make Caramel Layer: Combine the caramels and cream in a saucepan, stir over low heat until melted and smooth. Spread over the top of the filling and refrigerate until smooth. To Make Frosting Layer: In another saucepan combine 1 cup milk chocolate chips, 1/4 butterscotch chips and 1/4 cup peanut butter, and stir over low heat until melted and smooth. Pour over the caramel layer. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Cut into 1 inch squares. Store in the refrigerator. It's worth the mess. ENJOY!
  16. Perfect. My girls just hopped on the squinkies bandwagon. Luckily they aren't all sold out around here, YET.
  17. i didnt get a chance to make it there to upgrade, but i see that it's up to $100 so that must be for multiple models combined. blah
  18. I looked but hadn't seen this posted. Toys r us is offering up to 100 bucks towards the purchase of a new iPod when you trade in an older model. I got it in an email and haven't had a chance to read the full stipulations but it may be a good deal for anyone looking for the new model this Christmas. www.toysrus.com/ipodtradeup

  20. WOW, that's so funny and so bad at the same time. *Note to self-borrow grandmoms wheel chair!*
  21. I hope it comes back eventually. We used it to hide the gifts from the girls and pick it up near xmas. It would be nice to have that convenience once again.
  22. Oh yea I forgot my girls are on the pillow pets kick too. Hope they go on sale.
  23. Out of all the places we went, we finally stumbled across the singa mijigs at the grocery store of all places. Kind of random.
