Do you do ALL of your Holiday Shopping on Black Friday?
bribri25 replied to magickallight's topic in 2014
I'd say 90% is done on or before Black Friday / Cyber Monday. -
Yeah, I just told my DW there were campers already and then said that ad wasn't even out yet. Noone can ask them what they are standing in line for, because they don't even know!
-
They've gotta have more ad still to come. No sheets, pillows, & mattress pads. If all else fails, maybe JCP?
-
Yeah, many of the items are at the BF prices, but not quite all of them. Most of them, at the very least, are pretty close. I was looking at the same thing with Refrigerators and they aren't quite as low now. For $40, it might be worth the wait if you're able to get there on BF (well, Thursday) to get it then.

I think TRU does one of the best jobs for the sheer volume of shoppers they get per square footage. I've never set foot in a TRU that had tons of extra open space, or a 'Lawn and Garden' section to put hot items in. Every item is a hot item and there's nowhere to fit that many people in the stores. Most people know where things are and have some idea about the things that are in their ad.

Already have the Solo 2 On Ear Beats @ Kohls BF ad. $179.99; you'll also likely get a 15% off (maybe 20%), free shipping from Kohls.com (before Thanksgiving, even) and that'll either be at or close to $150 so you'll get $45 Kohl's Cash to spend in the weekish after BF; So essentially $110.
-
You may need to be ready to go at 1am and 2 am, too.... The disadvantage to online BF shopping is that sales don't always go live exactly at the advertised time, whereas the doors at the store will open as advertised. Sometimes things are catching up a little and there may be delays. But you've got the right idea
-
Yup! And now with PetSmart.com, I'm wondering if this will work getting online. I don't remember this being available last year. This is where I always go with the DS3 and DD4 Friday morning (gotta start them early with BF shopping, but ease them into it with stores like PetSmart!)
-
I think virtually EVERYTHING is online (starting on Tuesday ish), except maybe the TVs and big electronics (since this is not the norm I shop at Kohl's for, I'm not sure). Some things sell out REALLY fast. Other things are readily available. I have a feeling the Beats might not last long' decent price.

There's some decent deals in here. This might be the place to go in the Kohl's ad really ends up missing the entire Home section. I initially found all the promotions to be a bit confusing and will have to re-process everything to determine what discount you get at what time so I can plan when to go in the store/shop online. Coupon Giveaway: IN STORE ONLY, THURSDAY 5PM - while they last$10 off $10 purchase (valid Thursday/Friday only) OR1 in 100 is $100 Super Coupon (valid Thursday thru Dec 24th); I have no idea what the other 99 are worth, $0??So you either take your guaranteed $10 or take your 1% at $100, 99% chance $0?$20 Bonus Cash: IN STORE ONLY, FRIDAY 6AM - 1PM$20 Bonus Cash when you spend $75 in store (valid to use Dec 2 - Dec 24)Extra % off: IN STORE, FRIDAY 2PM - CLOSE; ONLINE, FRIDAY 2PM - 11:59PM20% off if you use you JCP Credit Card15% otherwise (on most things)10% on certain categoriesThere is ALOT of fine print on this one; notably "excludes Big Buy (which is everything in this ad), Best Value, Disney, Licensed Team Apparel, ..."; so really maybe just good for some extra 15% discount on some random clearance clothes. So, this helped me understand everything (hopefully it'll help someone else too), but didn't really entice me too much. This is in the "MAYBE" pile.

Symphony in B. Orchestra Musical Toy http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NTAwWDUwMA==/z/G4sAAOxyUrZSvqSv/$_1.JPG http://www.ebay.com/itm/B-Symphony-in-B-Orchestra-/281319251123?pt=Educational_Toys_US&hash=item417fef1cb3 This toy plays a collection of songs and has all the instruments for an orchestra. When you move the instrument "into the pit" their part in the song plays. You can pick one instrument, a few, or include as many the would be included in the song. My kids don't quite understand all the aspects, but love playing with it and are beginning to learn their instruments.

Coleman Road Trip Grill http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAwMFgxMDAw/z/JrcAAOSwr81UOt-T/$_57.JPG http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-Coleman-RoadTrip-Portable-Propane-Gas-Grill-Model-9941-768-/321550215505?pt=Barbecues_Grills_Smokers&hash=item4adde2e951 This is a portable, collapsible, almost full size grill that can be taken camping or tailgating. We've used ours for over 10 years and still works when we need it. We can cook 10 burgers at a time on here and the 2 sides are independently interchangeable from grill grates, to stove top, to griddle (works great for grilled cheese or pancakes!).

More and more people are shopping kohls.com and I think the lines are shorter than they used to be. I remember those days, too. With opening times on Thursday and so many other stores opening around the same time, I think Kohl's shoppers are getting more staggered and the crowd doesn't just come all at once.

Definitely a good ad for the cat. We're debating on getting a saltwater fish tank and those 50% off might be the incentive for this to be the time...

There are significantly less and less out at 4am from the last few years since there's been Thursday openings. Most sales are either 6pm, 8pm, 10pm, midnight, or 7am. There aren't many that will stay up late on Thursday and then go back out at 4am when they will be standing in line for doorbuster of stores that open back up at 6am or 7am.
-
Yes, but the more times they get you in the store, the more stuff you'll buy. Edit: I doubt there's a consumer in favor of this (other than maybe if you only wanted one thing from the store and it was in the Friday 8am sale ), but the retailers have had success with it and I doubt it'll ever go away now.

There's definitely some good deals; I mean it IS Kohl's on Black Friday with $15 back on $50. However, I feel like this is nowhere as good as they usually are. I recall the ad was 60-something pages last year (I know, I could go look but I really thought it was over 60) and barely even 40 this year. I agree with others this is very heavily electronics-driven, which is not what I think of when I think of Kohl's.
