  1. They give it to you after you checkout (well that's what they've done in the past).
  2. Um, nothing really....I haven't seen one single item that made me go "MUST go to that store on BF!" Kinda disappointed. Still waiting for Walmart....
  3. Just got back from regular grocery shopping at Costco. My son and I ate at the cafe there. While we were eating, I watch two employees unpack TONS of Wiis and put them at the back of the cage (in the front of the store) on the bottom shelf. I would estimate there were at least 50. Not sure if this is in prep for BF or just a large shipment, but it seemed kinda suspicious that they went in the back on the bottom out of sight...Hope that helps someone out!
  4. Was it an intentional snoop or an accidental opened the wrong closet?
  5. OK, so DH has decided he is getting DS (3YO) a fishing pole from Nana and Grampa (they are older; we always pick the gifts from them for Xmas and Bdays, and they pay us to get them). I checked at Walmart and TRU during the Zhu Zhu trips today. I have no clue about fishing poles, having never been fishing myself (I don't even EAT fish!). DH wants to get him this fancy Shakespeare Ugly Stick pole, but I am thinking he really only needs the kiddie one (Cars or Spiderman). So, are there any serious family fishers out there? Any advice? We live near the ocean, and would be fishing off piers and jettis.
  6. The Cracker Barrel animal was an opossum...a webkinz....I have a busboy student at CB.
  7. Some gift ideas: Grab bag by number Regifts only allowed Grab bag with only regifts allowed Gift swap (tallest to shortest, oldest to youngest, etc) Across the table gift swap (whoever you sit across from you swap with) Gift cards in a hat Dollar store only gifts These are all ideas my friends and I have done over the years and all end up with some serious laughs
  8. My SIL said my neices (10 and 6) also went bonkers (the exact word she used!) when they saw the commercial. After seeing the price, she told them it won't work with the computer they have...so I'll be keeping an eye on the price too!
  9. NO BENDAROOS! THEY MAKE A MESS! The wax gets everywhere, on everything, and it does not come off!
  10. Want: Teacher supply store (not Staples or Office Max, a local one with teacher stuff, not just office stuff) or a local restaurant gift certificate. Best gift ever: A handwritten card from a developmentally challenged high school sophomore with the IQ of a five year old. He wrote out Merry Christmas and his name. I cried. Second best: Fuzzy dice paperweights. They are so tacky, it makes them awesome. Worst gift ever: A box of chocolates, that had been opened and one was missing. What not to give: Candles (get them every year), anything apple themed (once redid my kitchen in apples because I had so much stuff).
  11. Christmas Vacation The Grinch (both versions) Rudolph Home Alone (1 only) Charlie Brown Christmas iCarly Christmas (it's a take on It's a Wonderful Life) Rugrats (Hanukkah and Christmas)
  12. From what nephew 10 and cousin 6 have mentioned, that 7 in 1 thingmajig is a good choice!
  13. INTERESTING! Wonder what Aldi's BF hours are....they share a parking lot with Walmart here. Hmmmm.... Oh, they are like a cross between Digimon and Transformers.
  14. 1. I think we're gonna need a bigger boat... 2. Where's my thong? 3. Who needs a hotel room?
  15. We get the photo cards from Walmart. I try to take the picture and order them by Dec. 1st and I try to mail them by the first weekend in Dec.
  16. Our Furbabies: Sienna (4) and Savannah (3) Golden Retrievers and Kermit (11) a very large cat. The girls get very large rawhide bones and new rope toys. Kermie gets a container of nip and a new mouse toy.
  17. Put it up the Saturday after Thanksgiving and it comes down the first weekend in January. (It's a fake one).
  18. Boys: Hess Truck, Hot Wheels Girls: Add-a-pearl necklace Either: Ornaments, books
  19. Almost done except for the two people we get in the draw (my family does names out of a hat for the 10 adults), my next door neighbors (family of 5, usually get them a restaurant gift card that is handicap accesible, their daughter is in a wheelchair ), DH, and, of course, ME! HAHAHAHA. Stupid hamsters took all my energy!
  20. I did not witness this obviously, but heard about it many times: The Christmas after my grandparents got married (1956), my grandfather's parents gave my grandmother a fire blanket. To, and I quote my grandmother, "keep her from burning the house down."
  21. Don't really need a buddy (I got a husband, they work OK too LOL), but would love to meet other GDBFers in Southern CT (West Haven, Milford, Orange)!
  22. Chocolate Fudge 1 pound (box) confectioner's sugar 4 squares unsweetened (baking) chocolate 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter (plus more for greasing) 1/4 cup whole milk Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. When completely melted and combined, pour into buttered 8x8 baking pan. Freeze 15 minutes. Invert pan onto plate. If it sticks, move a paper towel dampened with hot water over the inverted bottom. Cut into squares. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
