  1. We put up our tree today, because we could. My husband passed away last Nov.24 and was the kind of person who would be happy to put it up on Christmas Eve and take it down New Year's Day (a perfectly wonderful man otherwise! ). He just didn't share my love of celebrating holidays! I swear I have the ugliest tree but the kids like it and that's all that matters. I am more into the lights and my snowmen collection and I will be putting those up between now and Thanksgiving. I have always felt that the 3-4 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas were not nearly enough time to enjoy the spirit of the season.I've been listening to Christmas music full-on for a week and off and on since mid-October.I regret nothing! "It's beginning to look like Christmas" around my home. Now all I need is some SNOW.
  2. Definitely Kohl's. I do an online order Wednesday, but also love to get out in the stores (I might go to 2 or 3 Kohl's,depending on where else I need to shop). I also must stop at some CVS and Walgreens but not necessarily on BF.
  3. I went at the end of July, but would love to take a Girls Trip in November. I asked my cashier what Black Friday was like and she said, "CRAZY". I can imagine! If you love Christmas, you will LOVE Bronners!
  4. Honestly,Pinterest is the Mother Lode of ideas.
  5. What a cool idea-I would love a sports themed tree!
  6. My husband died of breast cancer 11/24/14. Last year I got the Jim Shore Breast Cancer Awareness Angel ornament. He has a new one this year and I will be getting that one as well.So I guess this is my new collectible ornament.
  7. Starts Monday, Nov.2 and goes through Jan. 6,2016. Probably my favorite channel on the tv during this time!
  8. CVS was 75% this afternoon when I stopped in for milk. The ONLY Christmas clearance shopping I did this year. I got 2 big rolls of paper (one for $1.99 the other for $1.49 but I like the really long rolls of paper for wrapping those large gifts) 2 bags of the Reese's bells at .99 each and a bag of pretzel M&Ms for 1.07. I didn't have the energy-mental or physical-for Target this year That's the best I could do.
  9. I love reading about everyone's HITS every year! With all the thinking, planning, saving and shopping we do for so long, the reward comes when we see the happy faces on our loved ones when they open their gifts It all makes it worthwhile then. I will share just a couple of very special gifts we received this year: Many of you know that my beloved husband passed away (thank you for the kind words of sympathy from so many GD friends!) on Nov.24 so our Christmas was a little different. While he was still able to walk with the aid of crutches,he "walked" his daughters down the aisle at my niece's wedding in September. Knowing that he would never actually be able to be there for their weddings made this so very special. Well, his sister (mom of the bride) had the pictures of him and the girls blown up and put in pretty frames. She also gave the girls lockets with their and their dad's pictures in them. Also,my sisters-in-law made me and Matt's mom a bracelet and earrings made from the flowers at his funeral. I had asked them to make rosaries from the flowers for the girls to carry on their wedding day but the jewelry was a touching surprise! But the most special thing was what my best friend had made for me. It was a pillow made from one of his shirts with an embroidered patch with the words, "This is a shirt I used to wear.Whenever you hold it Know that I am near. Love,Matt". That gift is something I will always,till-I-die, treasure. I hug this pillow every night as I go to sleep.
  10. A happy CONGRATS to you pogiporkchop! Merry Christmas!
  11. I'm trying to feel it,but we buried my beloved husband of 24 1/2 years yesterday. He'd been battling breast cancer for 3 1/2 years and he finally succumbed on Mon. Nov. 24. Last Christmas was the one to live in our memories. Ordinarily,we would have put up our tree today but I just couldn't. My brother is staying with us so he will help us do it tomorrow. It will be different (to say the least) this year at Christmas time.I can't even say how our Christmas will be this year.I will be trying to make it a good one for the kids but my heart sure isn't in it as of right now.

  14. Yes,you still get the $15 KC and you can use it online as well as in store.
  15. I couldn't wait until BF to take the chance of getting a snow blower. Ordered one last night at Sears (Friends and Family sale) and am happy with the price. The final price is all I'm interested in. If it meets my price point,I buy it whenever (for something like this).
  16. Got the snow blower I needed! Let it snow let it snow let it SNOW!!!
  17. I believe it! You'd get to talking with others and you'd realize, "WHAT the heck are we all doing out here at this time of night?!!" But it made you a member of "the club"....and then the stories to pass down to future generations. ("Grandma, what was it like standing out in the snowy dark,pre-dawn hours at Toys R Us for that life-sized Barbie doll?")
  18. Very well said Deal Grabber! At this early stage, I think most of us are happy to see ANY of the early leaks! Always grateful to Brad et al for the "scoop" even if it's from a competitor.
  19. Thanks Brad and Gottadeal for a wonderful gift for some lucky poster!
  20. I think you were the one I was posting with last year! The first song was Jimmy Boyd's "Jingle Bells". Wonder what the first one will be for this year??? I'm just hoping I can stay awake until then, but with the time change,it should be easier.
  21. Oh well nevermind folks-it appears the Halloween season on MC has been extended. No biggie. We do get a joyful allotment of Christmas music but DANG IT! I love it so much and can't wait to hear and "watch"!
  22. Anybody else have a black and silent screen for the switchover? What was the first song on MC Sounds of the Season '14? P.S.-NONE of my MC stations are coming in!!!!
  23. This will be my 22nd year. Oh,the times I stood out in the dark, cold, snowy wee hours waiting for KMart/Target/ToyRUs to open! Everyone else thought I was nuts but I wouldn't trade those memories for money. It's not the same anymore (for better or worse) but it's kind of like my own personal "war stories".
