  1. For real! My area has equal chances of being colder or warmer, drier or wetter than average. Which I guess is why it's called an average. Still, we're due for flurries in the next 24 hours or so...
  2. $10 Black n Decker toaster oven from Target BF last year. It's the only thing we bought at Target because I've always wanted one, and my husband was going to get it for me for Christmas anyway. Works like a charm - use it almost every day.
  3. If any retailer was smart, they'd leak an ad, see our reaction to it (good deals versus not so good deals), then readjust their "real" ad to WOW us all and win our loyalty as consumers. We can make or break them on BF.
  4. The only camping I do is the kind that's in the woods, next to a river, in the middle of summer. The closest I get to camping on BF is hovering outside store doors for about 20 minutes waiting to get in. But like many others have said here, I'm not looking for a Nintendo or PSP Personal or any other hot electronic items.
  5. Wow, I've never thought to fight for a price adjustment before. I've always accepted my defeat at paying more than what I could have... and just keep a mental note for next time not to buy something until I see the price go low again. (Like curtains, Cricut things, etc.) But I'm just buying for my DH, parents and in-laws, I have only one baby niece, and no DS or DD yet to speak of...
  6. Definitely KMart - always find great deals from little gifts to clothing to toys to last-minute Christmas cards and decorations.
  7. Good deals are just around the corner...
  8. I want to get some great Cricut cartridges... for me! (Or to tell other people to buy for me.. :))
  9. Posted to my Twitter account and used exactly 150 characters... sweet!!! http://twitter.com/Jules_Messia
  10. We're at the peak of "leaf peeping" season here in upstate NY... The rain for the last few days has brought many of the leaves down and I'm not looking forward to raking up that mess. We could have snow by now and we typically have snow by Thanksgiving. A few years ago we had a storm on Thanksgiving and BF parking lots were really slick and icy. I'd take snow over ice any day of the week.
  11. I vow to try to finish my Christmas shopping on BF. I always keep shopping after the fact... It never feels like enough!
  12. My first BF experience many years ago was absolutely frigid!!! We started at Walmart at 4am - good thing we left earlier than that because they opened earlier and we almost missed out on the tv we were going to buy! ("We" is my now-DH and me). But since Lowe's wasn't open when we were done with Walmart, we bought a newspaper and sat in Dunkin Donuts across from Lowe's sipping coffee, eating donuts, biding the chilly time, having a wonderful holiday memory! I particularly enjoy feeling smarter than amateur-BF'ers who go to places that have different sales each day of the BF weekend (Kmart is a notorious example), who try to buy something that won't be on sale until Saturday and leave their would-be purchases at the register in absolute frustration... Is that mean of me? That's how you can tell a GottaDeal'er from a non-GD'er...
  13. Depending how well you know her, maybe you could get her one of those Homedics home foot spas or back massagers - I've always found great deals on those on BF, usually at Kmart.
  14. One year me and the hubby waited almost 45 minutes from the time Walmart opened to the time Lowe's opened (great sales on energy saving bulbs). After hitting Dunkin Donuts we waited in the car until we could rush into Lowe's - and nearly broke our backs sliding all over ice on the parking lot from the snow storm on Thanksgiving!
  15. I'll be more antsy once I actually have a list of things to buy and people to buy for.
  16. I got a great deal on an MP3 player a few years ago for BF-Cyber Monday weekend at Best Buy - I didn't have it shipped, I just went to pick it up in my local store. Super convenient and no crowds to beat down. Score 1 for the internet.
  17. Hope to win this year! Entered a few... Will keep checking for more!
  18. Decent prices on small appliances (toasters, microwaves) Bluetooth headpiece and accessories Tools Good deals on men's suits and shoes A money tree
  19. Does anyone know if Sephora does one? I'd totally score myself some makeup. I've noticed lately their "samples" in the stores are a bit lacking.
  20. Some stores are already doing promotions that to me scream desperation... I think the sales will be good this year.
  21. I don't have any children but I hope to one day... and I'd think that I'd try to be a trooper and go as long as there weren't any medical reasons not to... Probably would take it easier than I would usually, and hey, you might feel a kick or two when you spot a great deal!
  22. Thank goodness for automatic direct deposit and Christmas savings accounts! The money we spend on Christmas I don't even miss. I'm so much more the saver but my husband keeps me on budget...
  23. Albany - Latham - Troy, NY area
  24. Although I have pretty specific buys on Black Friday, sometimes I've noticed that prices were better in the two or three weeks BEFORE Black Friday than they were ON BF and throughout the remainder of the xmas shopping season. JCPenney's and Boscov's seemed notorious for this in my mind.
  25. It's the ultimate planning challenge for me and for my husband. We spend October and November making lists of potential gifts for our family members and start watching prices. Once we've done store and online comparisons and have all the ads for BF - then we map out our plan of attack. Some years we've actually drawn out little maps so that at 3am we can remember where we're going next and why. :) But it's the idea of getting great deals, the rush of competition, the people-watching, and sometimes the free food (i.e. at Sam's Club last year).
