  1. heh, i chuckle only because i feel for your situation. i know i would have the same thoughts, objectively of course i would have to say ditch BF and go have fun and be with your family.
  2. yea I hear ya, I was joking. thankfully we did not go for any adjustable rates and bought our house just before the craziness happened (2003). though we are far from paying it off and we'll sell it before that day comes.
  3. nothing that would really constitute those same lines this year, the tv and laptop deals will always get the early lines though.
  4. you started this thread just to set yourself up to post about that didn't you?
  5. effect as in making the decision between going out or not? not really, i already have a house. if it makes the sales go one way or the other, that remains to be seen but i don't see it making a huge shift either way.
  6. not everything is guaranteed to be "best price" simply because it is BF, this is a common misconception. best buy will have westinghouse on sale dirt cheap, that is their thing. of course as you have already discovered they are cheap for a reason. samsung, pioneer - these are quality models LG, hitachi, sharp - these are next in line sony, panasonic - again one step below. anything else is going to take some research on your part with specific models to determine who manufacturers the panels and parts. I can't say I'm excited about $1600 for that model, I would wait.
  7. i enjoy this site for BF because it is put together well and seems to cater to it. but for year round there are other sites i go to which seem to be a bit quicker. you have to recognize that when someone finds a deal, the members on the site they post it to are usually the ones to buy it all. by the time it makes it to the next site it is already out of stock. i visit about 3-4 sites hourly, or more. i don't even buy anything most of the time, i just like staying on top of the deals and if something jumps out as incredible or i need it (not just want it) then i buy. i don't buy simply because it is a good deal, because those deals are always around. there is one other site that i visit for BF, and they have the alleged sears ads up now, not the ad scans.
  8. ooo, i want one, i want one.. mommy, i want this!!!
  9. usually head straight home and keep anything the kids aren't supposed to see in the trunk, but take everything else and dump it into the living room. it's like a mini-christmas everyone gets excited. grandparents are usually there from staying over on thanksgiving and we'll tell any tales of adventure from the night before and how great a deal this or that is. basking in their amazement of how i was able to stay awake and in line in the cold for xx hours. then food, and sleep. =)
  10. i've had my share of problems. when you do it often enough you'll eventually run into them. make copies before and after you fill them out. this may not be reasonable for everyone so chose which one you think is best, just make copies either way. get in contact with the rebate centers to check status and see if they received it. the biggest rule: do it right away! sometimes little things like the serial number was incorrectly written, item did not qualify (when it clearly did). usually a phone call can correct these things.
  11. my wife usually meets up with me after i've done the waiting and the store opens up. not line cutting, just helping with items at the register and then we go on to other stores together. i'll always pick one store to wait all night at then the lesser ones are more casual. either that or she'll go with her mom to somewhere like sears and jcpenny after it opens.
  12. 'ehm, this was a classic moment for me last year.. brought a friend with me (first time I'd ever done that) and we were walking up to Staples which I've been going to for almost 4-5 years now. There were three people there already, it starts earlier and earlier each year with the media getting involved, and we said hello and what not. They were on the left side of the door, and we sat at the right side. I knew they had never been there before, their choice of seating explained it well enough. They were all snuggled in and it was cold. They were staring at us the entire time as we setup camp (chairs, laptop, sleeping bags, etc). Then to break the silence I said "You guys are still first in line, but the line starts over here." they were puzzled and got a bit upset, I tried to repeat myself so they didn't think we were trying to cut in line. "No, you guys are before us in line, but the line goes down the right side of the door." You see, only a few feet behind them was nothing but dirt and grass with no overhead, were everyone would eventually be if they showed up and lined up behind them. To the right is a nice paved walkway in front of store shops, you know they typical strip mall layout. I felt kind of bad having to tell them, but they packed up their stuff and made their way over to our side. was the first time my BF seniority paid off. =) P.S.: no this was not a trick or anything, they were still first when it was time to go in.
  13. three reasons: procrastination (christmas gifts) being poor excitement. it is thrilling, it always has been. the joy of being first, when you are first that is.
  14. depends on what neighborhood you are going to. when i first read the topic i thought it was a bit silly. i do understand there might be some concern from your husband, but personally i don't see anything to worry about. the only questionable place i would have concerns over is walmart, but i have concerns for my well being there on regular business nights. again, that all depends on where you live, etc.
  15. usually 250-500 in the last 4 years, when tracking deals all year long it's easier not to splurge. i'm usually filling in christmas gifts and small personal things like blank dvds and usb sticks.
  16. bumping the thread cause i'm looking for quicken right now. any deals going on out there? =)
  17. we have this from a previous deal, it is great.
  18. Anyone have experience with buying from Appliance Direct? This is a Florida chain that sells scratch and dent and open box appliances. They also have "New In Box" but I'm not entirely sure they are from the manufacturer or repackaged. Anyways, a front-load HE system would be great and we were a bit timid to buy recently on the friends and family deal at Sears last week. Now we are more serious about putting the money down but need to see a deep discount from retail. If anyone has purchased from a similar company please tell me your experiences, thanks.
  19. do you mean PS3 tickets on Friday? I sure hope they don't start Wii tickets Friday.
  20. i know you are just throwing out numbers with your idea to get it out there, and the idea is entertainming, however i would probably ask for about $200 to stand in line for someone. all the time and the inability to actually buy the deals for myself would kill things for me and they would have to pay up good coin for the service. this is all depending on store of course, i'm talking BestBuy in this case.
  21. deals are luke warm at best. 9pm turkey day start, bastards - who do they think they are raising the bar like that!
  22. Hey, I couldn't make out if there is a limit on these or not, I'm going to guess 1 per customer, any ideas? Also, how is it done typically at Staples for 1 Limit per customer with rebates. If my wife goes with me and we each buy one, would we only be able to redeem 1 rebate per household? Of course it iwll be dificult to know for this exact item, but generally speaking and in your past experience. would love comments on this and experiences. thanks
  23. i had to go with very dissapointed. was hoping their hdtv sales would win me over, but no.
