  1. i tell ya what i won't save on at BB: sleep and headaches ;P
  2. looks like this is the model from compaq's website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=c00384512&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN also found it on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834147288 though the newegg HD is 80GB and staples has a 60 in it, evrything else looks the same for $599 after a $30 rebate.
  3. mediocraty strikes again! can't say i'm dissapointed, i quite expected this to be similar to that of last years. that samsung monitor is a great deal though.
  4. For anyone in Orlando, or anyone who thinks this might apply to their store, the first person in our line last year started at 4pm Turkey day. I got there at 6pm and was about 5th in line. I say about because there was some line shifting a few times (people coming/going). Also, if you are in Orlando know that it was handled POORLY last year. No tickets, one employee at the door, a rush of people from the parking lot who were not even in line. The line went further than I could see and winded back behind the shopping center, about 2-3 normal blocks worth of length. News crews were there interviewing people and it was just madness. I think this year should be even worse from the Wii/PS3 and all the exposure BF has now. I almost hate talking about it, feel like it encourages people to show up earlier. If anything I would appreciate starting later, but once the first person shows up it is just a domino effect from there so get your gear ready and check those doors.
  5. Staples+Target
  6. this is true. in Illinoismom's story the employee was knocked over. i'm wondering where things fail, do they just not believe the potential for dissaster? they should have BF training videos for employess. :)
  7. i'm just saying you clearly did cut in line.
  8. We buy a new ornament every year to sort of mark that year, then decorate with all of those plus any filler we enjoy. This year it is still up in the air, we normally chop down a tree at a local farm but I think we're going for an unsheard Douglas Fir this year, which is great for some large ornaments and stringing/bows.
  9. in a previous post it was made clear that the intention is to join her son and buy two cameras. this is the kind of thing that should not be tollerated. most of the time I'm not interested in going to the major stores simply to avoid these people entirely. i can't recall an opening at staples where people rushed the door, or the cops showed up. but i can certainly recall that at compusa, bestbuy and the other major places. i've never gone to walmart on BF, i don't shop there normally either. the only thing that would bring me out to these places again is a must have super deal and i'm not seeing it so far this year.
  10. sounds like the later is closer to the trouth than the former comment. especially the part where you admit to buying two cameras, which would not have been possible unless you line jumped, which you did. last year at CompUSA MM sale I was about 5th in line, then a van drove up and 4 people got out to join the people up front. That didn't sit well with the 100+ already there and they had to leave. About 3 people joined the guys in front of me that had been in and out of the line all night, they were driving around town and reporting on what the other lines looked like and we all learned a lot from them as to how the lines looked at CC, BB, etc. So they actually were welcomed and not really hated as the first people.
  11. yes, unfortunately the more and more this becomes popular and the more consumer driven we are getting the more time is getting added to waiting in line to be first. boohoo! ;P also, what store are you talking about =) of course time of camp out all depends on the stores most popular item and location. we should all try to graph it out, starting with a survey of all the forum posters here. that would be pretty cool.
  12. sounds like a personal problem. last year i was 3rd in line for the midnight madness sale. it was indeed madness and i felt bad for anyone beyond 20th in line, but there were some great deals and i had quite a few of them. though the real deal of the evening was the AOL stuff, but at the time I didn't fully grasp what it was all about and how to capitolize on it until it was too late as usual.
  13. I'm going to agree here. I used to live in Gainesville and The EBGames at the Paddock Mall was the only gaming outlet worth going to and that mall was empty all the time. Retired people used it to walk around and get exercise in, I "camped out" the first time I went there when a big game was getting released and I was the only person there at 6am. I continued to be the only person there up until the employees opened the gate at EBGames and just walked around the mall a bit afterwards then left. You should have a breeze of a time come BF, congrats on having the luxury!
  14. if you are in your first or third trimester, don't go. 2nd, hey have a ball. or if you are late and need to get that baby out, maybe you should go.
  15. the latest info is November 17th, and you would probably be best to hang out at one of these three: Target, Best Buy, Circuit City. EBGames/Gamestop is definitely where you DO NOT want to go. It is very unlikely they are getting any beyond what they have already pre-sold. The previously mentioned stores did not have pre-sales and will have the console in stock on launch date to be sure. I would personally pick Target, but that is due to my previous experience with Best Buy and PS2 launch - employees taking units before store opened and mass histeria at the doors.
  16. Thanks for the replies guys. Hopefully all those in Orlando reading this can rest easy and agree not to start things until 3AM day of BF, it sure would be nice!
  17. It is going to take some serious line time as everyone else has said. I would highly recommend getting a Wii to save yourself the trouble unless it is extremely important. I don't plan to by mine until mid/late 2007 when some newer models come out. I'll be selling the one I get this month.
  18. i'm out the door, no breakfast. i'll take a water and some granola snacks. never had an issue with needing to go, ake care of that and eating after the first major store is out of the way and done.
  19. Any game that is a launch title for the Wii is a hot item! I'm going to grab Rayman, my daughter loves the bunnies.
  20. heh, yea guess that would be helpful - Orlando, FL currently population - 213,223 I'm considering driving out a ways but not sure that would help as they may not get all the items. I've lived in much bigger cities (raised in Los Angeles) but this place is consumer crazy.
  21. cheap dvds = netflix
  22. I've never been to BB on BF, I have a high traffic BB in a big city. Anyone with experience at a BB like that on BF? I'm wondering how early is early enough to be near or at the front of the line. I'm going to do a drive-by every other hour starting the morning of thanksgiving. hah!
  23. that is the way to go. last year CompUSA opened at midnight and that is where it began for me. This year my wife and MIL will be doing the Prime. =)
  24. I'm not seeing any univeral remote FAR on this weeks ad - looks like no staples in Central Florida have these, bummer! Need one of these. Well, looking forward to Staples on BF - they always deliver the goods.
  25. Beating a dead horse here, just wanted to drive the last nail in the coffin. The only saving grace to EBGames' BF would be they might have some PS3/Wii units on hand for the event, and for those who missed out on pre-order it may be wise to check it out. Wii not so much, but PS3 definitely (assuming of course that it ships by then).
