  1. Love these rookie questions! But seriously, welcome to the GottaDeal community! If you're lookin' for something specific like a very cheap laptop/desktop, or something that's really popular and expected to be in limited quantity per store, be prepared to show up very early. That's pretty much the best advice I can give anyone. Decide what specific store has the doorbusters you want the most and prepare to show up at that one place early enough so that you're nearly guaranteed to get it, like being one of the first dozen or so people in line. We're talkin' about midnite or even earlier the night before. Then you can go hunting after all the madness dies down a bit for other non-specific stuff that's left over. Can't imagine how many people came into our Wal-Mart last year about an hour after they opened, went straght up to the courtesy desk, and said "Whaddaya mean there's no more laptops?!" Oh, brother! Now THAT is what I call unprepared. Far as what stores are gonna have the best deals, just wait for the ads and make that judgement for yourself. It pretty much comes down to what you're lookin' for this year. Remember, the most popular and cheapest stuff only goes to the first few people in line. It'll be a pretty overwhelming experience for a beginner. But you made the right first step in coming here first. Stay tuned at GottaDeal for the ads to show up, prepare early, and be ready for an experience of a lifetime. Oh, and dress warmly and bring something to do for at least 6-8 hours.
  2. Ooh, then you're in for a real treat. :gdevillaugh:
  3. We're gonna have ours up well before BF. Hehe. I think most places like the department stores will have christmas trees on sale, but I dunno about the decorations themselves. Those are usually pretty cheap and on sale just before christmas anyways.
  4. So, does anyone think AOL is gonna try another sign-up offer this BF (another sign-up-for-12-months-for-a-total-of-$180-and-we'll-give-you-$250-at-best-buy-we-don't-care-if-you-cancel-early offer)?
  5. I don't think any of my other threads were ever this popular! :gdevillaugh: Keep chiming in! Power to the people!
  6. If that's the case, expect to be camping out by noon the morning before if 'ya wanna doorbuster!
  7. All depends on what the 'HOT' items are this year. Last year the big deal was the desktops/laptops, dirt cheap (a desktop for free?!) and only the first few people in line got 'em. Far as DVD recorders, my guess is it won't be the most sought after item (that might be the laptops this year), so 2am might be OK depending on where you go and what else is being offered. Wait for the ads to start comin' in, and we'll all see together.
  8. Just read that myself. Alot of desktops/laptops this BF are gonna come with one of two coupons for an OS upgrade to Windows Vista in early 2007. Eihter a free upgrade coupon in PCs with Widows Media Center OS, or 50% off upgrade coupon in PCs with XP Home OS. Pretty exciting news if 'ya ask me.
  9. First off, welcome to the states! The TRUE home of Black Friday! Far as electronics, that's what BF is for. DVD recorders should be on sale somewhere on BF, like at Best Buy or Circuit City, and at a really good price. Better than what you'd pay on a sale now. The downside is in order to have a chance at gettin' any of these popular and cheap items you must expect to either show up at the store very early or expect to wait in a very long line. And there is the chance they'd be sold out of the specific item you want by the time you get there unless you're plannin' on being one of the first few in line. It's a risk, and it takes some effort and planning, but often it's worth it. G'luck with your first BF!
  10. Wal-Mart will price match, but it needs to be the EXACT item right down to the model number. For example, the HP Pavillion ze2308 is different than the ze2308wm, and therefore will not me pm'ed. Also, odds are that most of the BF imited item doorbusters are special order items that only that particular chain of stores will have. For example, last year Wal-Mart was the only laptop retailer with the ze2308wm Pavillion laptop on sale and in limited quantity.
  11. Yup, that's bein' discussed over in one of the other GottaDeal forums, but that does suck for a lotta people. One of my predictions for this year's BF is that credit companies are gonna rip tons of people off giving 'em credit cards for BF shopping at insanely high rates. But on the bright side of things, that means less people in line this year.
  12. Don't usually go for the CDs, but for DVDs it depends if 'ya want new releases, like from the past few months and Disney DVDs, or if you like slightly older ones. Wal-Mart's BF (blitz-day) sales always include their 'Grab-N-Go' bin filled with movies for less than $4. Think it was $3.44 or something last year. Those are just slightly older movies or the newer movies on single DVDs (not 2-disc SE). Most brand new releases, box sets, complete season sets, and Disney movies are pretty well priced less than retail.
  13. Didn't they just make three? And the BTTF box set should be on sale, I hope.
  14. This game show should require athletic ability (hurtling over other shoppers) and ajility (able to nab things fast). And, of course, this would be a very violent show.
  15. That's what we have the buddy system for. Person 'A' grabs for the items while person 'B' sets up a defense perimeter. But, seriously, if I had the last doorbuster item and someone suddenly attacked me to get it from me, I'd fight back. Not necessarily cuz I won't give up the item, but because it's self defense.
  16. Anyone got any guesses on what sign-up offers folks like AOL or MSN will offer this BF? Think AOL will risk another meele like the one they caused last year ($250 IR when you sign up for 12 months of broadband AOL, which was worth $180 and almost everyone cancelled early )?
  17. Good news for those in S.C. Too bad Arizona doesn't do anythin' like that. Just so 'ya know, that a big savings off of a new laptop ot an HDTV. Might be worth the travel for those of 'ya in nearby bordering states, depending on what'cha plan on gettin'.
  18. Those Wal-Mart $3.44 DVDs on BF are older movies or single-disc movies of slightly newer releases, a.k.a. the jiant 'grab-n-go' bin where they typically offer DVDs 2 for $11. The more recent movies and box/season sets should be offered from $10 or so.
  19. FYI: At Wal-Mart it is $14.87 for just the DVD, and $19.96 for the DVD + music cd with lyrics book.
  20. There's a few others, but only one ... GottaDeal! Wonder why they don't hardly ever mention those 'other' sites?
  21. Odds are good it's gonna be on sale for a 'lil less on BF at both Target and Wal-Mart. So, if you can, wait a few more months to buy it.
  22. Well, one from each store. WM = digital camera FE = High-end dual core processor/mobo combo BB = all the other parts to build the dual core 'puter with, but mostly hopin' for cheap memory
  23. Really bad news for those who were plannin' on puttin' things on layaway at WalMart's BF celebration. This is currently bein' discussed over at one of GottaDeal's other forums here, but I just thought I'd warn you folks hangin' around the BF forums in case 'ya haven't heard the major news. I just found out today. My wife, who works for Wal-Mart, got back from vacation and went back to work today where the news is really spreading. According to Wal-Mart, due to the loss of profit for the company and apparant lack of consumer interest, stores will stop layaways Nov. 19 and you must pick up your items mid-December. Apparantly, this includes all Wal-Mart stores in the US, including supercenters. What that means for BF Wal-Mart shoppers? No layaways this BF. Period. So much for the easy way of financing doorbusters. The sad news has been delivered. A mod can close this thread so we discuss this over there with everyone else if 'ya like, but I'd like to know BF shoppers' take on this.
  24. Wow! Over 70,000 registered members? Where are all you people when we need some good topics? Mabe it's cuz we're soo top secret.
  25. Sorta depends. Usually the stores with the best doorbusters will be the ones with stuff you're lookin' for this year. I'd say last year the best doorbusters, in my opinion was Wal-Mart. They were in the running with all the other major electronics chains (BB, CC, CompUSA) for the better and cheapest laptops, desktops, HDTVs, videogames, DVDs, and just about everythin' else people were really interested in. I'd say overall they had the better deals and the most of each item.
