Organization? (Do you carry ads with you? What about cash and wallets???)
stationchief replied to momof2many's topic in 2006
Last year at Wal-Mart they gave you copies of the ads and a map of the store where everything on the ad was located. Far as yer funding, I suggest against purses and fanny packs that people can grab and run. Pockets are good for either cash or credit cards. But just to be on the safe side last year I put our cash in my shoe 'till we were ready for check-out (the wife made certain I had clean socks on! ). -
Ya head home to break the wrapping off all yer goodies, play with 'em for a few hours, then straight to bed for the rest of the day. 8 hours in line can really wear ya out.

Yeah, dunno if any of the major furniture stores ever have BF deals or not. I am lookin' for a new computer desk for my future BF desktop, though.
-
Fortunately, we've got a Denny's right down the street from Wal-Mart here in Phoenix. Gotta love those grand slam breakfasts.
-
We'll probably have Dennys or something at 10pm the night before. After that, jelly beans are on the menu while waiting in line.

What do you wear while waiting in line BF? (threads merged)

Possibly a GottaDeal.com t-shirt. Gotta advertize. -
Wel, guess I'll mention a few things. Anyone from last year remember the mass confusion caused by Wal-Mart's regional pricing ads, specifically on their computer and laptop they offered? We got the $378 price ad scanned then sometime later someone sent in a scan of the same ad with a $478 price tag on it. Most of us thought it was a fake or a scam for a good while. Now for a personal BF moment. See, I really wanted that Wal-Mart HP Pavillion laptop, which I still enjoy to this day but I'll explain how I got it. Unfortunately due to certain circumstances I just couldn't scrape up the dough for it. I was a bit down in the dumps about it, even though I did manage to scrape up a tiny lil' bit at the last minute. Not enough to wait in an insanely long line for, I figured. Midnite friday morning came around, when suddenly the wife looked at me and said something along the lines of "What the heck, why not!". We both went to go get in line at the Wal-Mart where she worked, if anything then just for the experience of it. Surprisingly the line hadn't gotten too big yet. Shortly afterwards, about 1am, people suddenly began to really pile in line behind us. Got there just in the nick of time before the line got really humungous behing us. Flashing forward to just a few minutes before the doors opened, one of my wife's associates was working that morning and just happened to recognize us in passing. She asked us if we were putting anything on layaway today. A bell went off in my head as I was told before their layaway wasn't gonna be open. Turns out they had enough associates to work layaway after all. Woohoo! The wife and I got one of the last Pavillion laptops (one left after us!) , 25" TV, a dozen or so DVDs, and a bunch of other goodies all put on layaway. And all with her associate discount, too! Man, being spontaneous really paid off big.

Share and relive your favorite moments from last lear's BF. Something that happened to you or someone ya know, something you saw happen and couldn't believe it, an ad you screamed out for joy and scared your neighbors when it finally got scanned. Anything memorale you wanna share with the rest or warn others about.

I've been waiting for this forum to open once again. Already started stashing and saving my tips away for the big morning. I can't wait for the first ad to hit!

Aren't you gonna be selling any BF GottaDeal.com t-shirts, Brad? We all could buy them and you'd make a profit. Some ideas for t-shirts: Just plain old GottaDeal.com logo "Got Ads?" (Got Milk parody with gottadeal.com logo) Any other ideas for tees to wear while in line?
-
Yup, we're gonna have lots more people here this time around. Every year more peeps seem to come here and become registered users, but last year GottaDeal got some good attention in the news and such. More people know about this site now and what it does, so this year lots more people are gonna be coming to look for early BF ads. Off the top of my head, I'm guessing: 4,500 threads and 100,000 total posts before BF.

What do you do to entertain yourself while you're in line?
stationchief replied to brynnfromtheblock's topic in 2006
Gotta have loads of MP3s ready to listen to on my cellphone. Gonna be waiting in line early this year. -
Blow a trumpet and announce yourselves when you arrive here at the forums! Tell us who you are, what you do, and any personal goodies ya wanna share. You might just find a new friend or a neighbor you never knew you had . Suppose i'll start. Some of 'ya from last year's BF GottaDeal forums might recognize me. Name's 'StationChief' (it's a Star Trek thing) when I'm posting on message boards. People call me Frank when I'm not. I reside in the far north side of Phoenix, Arizona where I save my tips for BF as a delivery driver for Domino's Pizza. My wife of 10 years works for Wal-Mart. As for what I have to offer our 'lil message board community, I'm somewhat knowledgable of electronics and computer technology as I have a few years of software engineering college along with a few more years experience building 'puters freelance-style. Just waiting for that one opportunity to go back to school and finish that bachelors degree. If anyone needs advice or anything, fell free to send a private message on over. Anyone else planning on going shoppin' in the Maricopa county area?

I've still got most, if not all, of the ad scans from 2005 stored on a cd. Gave it to my local relatives and friends to use for their black friday shopping. I'm gonna get 'em out again so I can help watch out for false ads reposted from previous years.

Will be at Phoenix Arizona's 'Fry's Electronics' this year. Went to Wal-Mart last year and got my new HP laptop among other things. This year it's time to build my new power desktop. Core Duo processors, here I come!

You really don't HAVE to go back to using AOL. Just have them finance yer new laptop for $14.95 a month.
-
Not the $149 'puter at BB. Just the ones at CC and CompUSA.
-
You're a real pal, dood! Thnx!
-
Dag nabbit. That's supposed to be CC and CompUSA, not BB. Don't think Best Buy has any AOL rebates. Someone's gotta change the topic's title. That's what I get for giving up caffiene.
-
AOL has these desktops and laptops they offer through company promotions. If you sign up for a year of service they sell you a desktop or laptop fairly cheap. Usually around $199-299 for the desktops. They're fairly decent systems.
-
Choices are either AOL dial-up ($23.90) or AOL account using someone else's ISP ($14.95). AOL with Broadband is not an option, but you could sign up for soemone else's high-speed service and pay the $14.95/month on top of that.
-
Alright class. Please come to attention. There's been a mountain's worth of questions regarding the AOL sig-up deally at BB and CC. Let's settle the details once and for all, shall we? Everyone paying attention? Good. Let's dance ... From both BB andd CC's official sites, the specifics reads as follows. ::AHEM:: Hope this answers a lot of people's questions. And there's been a LOT of questions. Ask away in here and we'll try to sum it up further.
-
Don't need it. I'lll be at CC and WM long before then. If it's gonna be that late those poor people might be in for a REAL wake-up call when they finally get to their Target store and realize there's already a long line.
-
Fry's is the last major retailer we're still waiting for on computers and electronics. It's still MIA. They're really good at keeping secrets.

Unless I can sleep sitting up in my folding chair... 0! After all items are safely home, then I will sleep happy.
