While we wait for the ads, check out a Best Buy ad from 15 years ago! (1996)

Ah, good ol' Pentium One single-core PCs. Those were the days. To think this was about when I first started building PCs on my own. -
Well, it's that time of year again, folks . This is where I'll be reporting all the BF chart updates for this year's BF season. I'm officially making my annual call to all our GD members who would like to volunteer to help out this year with updating the charts. Basically, you'll be given the ads, access to my moderator site, and a chart. You'll need to hunt down the technical info from the manufacturer's and retailer's websites and update the info into an online form. I'll even see what I can do about adding a little 'incenticve' in there for the volunteers this year . If you look at all the charts we had last year, there's plenty for everyone to do so the more the merrier. If interested shoot me a PM. Here's a brief listing of the charts that will be made for this season. If there's any hot electronics items I'm missing or if you have a suggestion for an item you'd like to see a chart for, lemme know: Blu-ray players, camcorders, cameras, GPS, DVD standalone and portable players, desktops, DVD and blu-ray movies and TV show sets, gaming systems, HDTVs, laptops, MP3/iPod players, netbooks, tablets/iPads, video games, and eReaders. In the meantime, ya can go have a look at last year's charts. This should give ya an idea of what to expect this BF season. Tell us what you all think of the charts: what you like about 'em, what don'tcha like, and what cool feature or add-on you'd like to see this year. Let your voice be heard! The Station Chief Update 10/29/2011: The charts for our first batch of 2011 ads are now LIVE! For comparison, the 2010 charts are still up at a new link: http://blackfriday.thestationchief.com/2010. Still waiting for Brad and the Moderator Trio to change to their Christmas avatars from the movie 'Elf'. I love that movie! :)

Considering that I get paid zero, that's not a bad deal. -

I'll be helping with the charts this year. The usual fee will be required. -
Christmas Music! Who's listening? (besides me lol)
stationchief replied to angelbabymommy's topic in 2011
My local oldies radio station (94.5 KOOL FM) will start playin' all christmas tunes starting in late November. BTW... 'Christmas Shoes' by Newsong gets me every single time. -
Surely WallyWorld must've sent out their legal threat letters by now. I'd hate to think they've gone soft and let it slide this season.

No ya didn't! 10 minutes left! Hurry hurry hurry!

C'mon in everyone, the water's great! :)

That's what the Best Buys around me said just before they got their limited stock last week. As to whether or not they'll get more every now and then, I guess the only thing anyone can do is keep checkin' in with 'em and keep an eye on their online in stock product tracker. It's almost a gamble tryin' to find one. Ya keep rollin' the dice and hope ya get lucky. And yes, it is headache worthy. I only wish the cure didn't cost $149.
-
I've always heard about this, but I've never taken part in it. Is there a monetary limit? Do people request a specific gift or is it at the discretion of the Secret Santa? Is it open to everyone?

HP Touchpads from Best Buy. Utter doorbuster madness. Also, with the Nintendo Wii goin' down in price to $150 to make way for the 'Wii U' next year, I'd expect to see a Wii console for about $100 taking into account the gift cards.
-
Precisely the point . It's a great deal for a touchpad. That's why I think they are gonna sell 'em for the same price. They won't raise the price back up. If they do, buyin' one is no better than giving in to these eBay/craig's list leeches selling 'em for two or three times their purchase price. They're good, but not THAT good.

Sears is still showing the 32GB in stock at $349 however I'm not one lil' bit surprised they're gettin' orders, price matching or not, and canceling every one. Not even they have any in stock. About the only places that WILL have 'em in stock are the rip-off resellers. Sure, I want an HP tablet, but not that badly .
-
Got the HP email myself. Also, this appeared today on Mark Budgell's blog: And according to his twitter page at MarkAtHP, another 'encore' run of the Touchpads will be on it's way in a few weeks. No word yet if it's gonna have the same pricing as before, $99 and $149 respectively. If y'all thought this last bit of craziness was bad, buckle up for the aftershock, people.

I've worn my BF GD t-shirt a few times while out. The one that says 'I probably got your doorbuster'. It's definitely a conversation starter. :)

Looks like HP took down the 'Notify Me' option from their HP Touchpad part of their website due to everyone wanting to be notified. Instead, they put up an updated FAQs by Mark Budgell: TheNextBench - Answering Your Questions…Part 2. Also, as a reminder, don't forget to follow Bryna Corcoran @BrynaAtHP on twitter for the most update info on HP Touchpad availability. Both are sayin' something might be brewing soon (in the next few days whether or not they'll have more available) but no details yet. We felt the HP Touchpad earthquake. Better get ready for the aftershock.
