I will have to try for some tomorrow. My parents collect Dept. 56 and they make great gifts for them every year. Thanks.

Anyone else disappointed in Thomas the Train Products?
maaj replied to maaj's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Ok, just looked up this set we got (it was not in the original box, it was in the styrofoam which would have been in the original box and we got the 130 Piece Melissa and Doug wooden set for $40. They run around $110, so that is a deal to me, even though it was not originally $200 like they had marked. I feel better now, dad only was able to make a round circle because he would not wait to do the whole thing and he is thrilled putting them all in the "shed". Thanks everyone. I am going to watch him play for a bit then try to go find more thomas tanks to fit this track. -

Thank you so much. I will go check them out. I just got back online to look up the "Melissa and Doug" wooden train sets. I just went to our local Hudson's and they had a $200 set and we got it for $40. We just got home with it and DH is setting it up right now, but the Thomas larger trains are too big for it and the smaller ones are too small. He saw the trains that came with it and he said "they do not have a face on them, this is not Thomas", ha, so I am about to go to the stores with a piece of track and see what I can do. -

Thank you VERY MUCH because I would have NEVER thought of that place. We do have a Micheals and I have only been in there once or twice. I always want to go, but never have thought I had a reason. I always see those coupons and want to go get something, but never have! Thanks bunches! :) -

That is too cute. Mine has always lined up all his toys and has never "ticked" like other kids his age (he is almost five and is just now starting the "why" phase) but he is highly functioning. I am hoping Thomas will help us potty train!! I am going to start looking for deals on the wooden sets! Thanks. -

That is what we plan on doing because we know there is absolutely no way we will get him out of this phase anytime soon (nor do we want too since it is a great bargaining tool for us in therapy with him) so if any fellow dealers hear of any deals for this stuff let me know! :) -
I have twin daughters who will be 9 on Friday as well! So we will be doing that and Christmas at my parents Friday, so we will be done then! I am not glad that it is over, but I am ready for the 4 kids to go back to school, haha.

We had a wonderful Christmas this year, but we were VERY disappointed in Thomas the Train products. Out of 4 kids (2 sets of twins) we were most excited about one of our 4.5 yr. old sons. He is "developmentally delayed" (going Jan. 2 for neurology assessment) but I believe he has an autistic spectrum disorder. That being said, he LOVES Thomas the Train. This is a fairly recent obsession so we had no Thomas toys and that is all he looked forward to this year (this was also his first Christmas that he was actually aware of Christmas and what goes on with Santa). I was up with him still at 2 a.m. because he could not sleep waiting for Santa because he wanted to ride with Thomas and Santa in his sleigh. We bought 4 different sets of the Thomas the Train Take Along sets. One being a large one that the tracks are set up in the air almost like a rollercoaster and does all kinds of stuff. We are soooooo upset that he is only able to play with the cars. The products are very cheaply made. The only way we are going to be able to make the large one work is set it up on wood and stabilize it with screws. For goodness sakes my child wants to play with it now and he can't. He is laying in bed right now with this Thomas train (which he will sleep with) and he is saying "Mom we need to fix Thomas' shed tomorrow". He does not understand that we can not get it to work. As soon as I post this I am going to look up whoever makes this line of toys and I plan on writing them correspondence and letting them know of our major DISAPPOINTMENT.

Well as soon as I can find my cord or the multi usb connector I will be able to post, but I can't seem to put my hands on either of them. I can't imagine why when today we got a new digital videocamera, 2 ds lites, 2 ipods, 1 creative zen, etc. I am so sick of looking for wires, haha.

I have never ever ever had luck returning anything to target. I always loose receipts, ha. Well yes they will let you exchange without a receipt if you use your drivers license, but you can only do that I think twice a year. The last time I tried was when they had school uniforms on sale, I picked some up......of course they did not fit, so I just wanted to exchange them for the correct size........NOPE, they would not let me do it. I paid in cash, did not have my receipt and had already used up my exchange allowance without receipts for the year. Everytime it happens I swear I will never shop there again, but I always do. I do vow one thing and that is when I create my wedding registries for my October 2008 wedding......I will NOT create one at Target.

My mother works at Kohls and every night she calls and asks me what I want out of her stashes that she keeps buying. She got a bunch of the oversized towels for under $1.00 a piece. She got kids bookbags for under $2.00 each (I have 4 kids and they never make it through a year with just one book bag). Everyday I wait for her to get off so I can see what she got us!

I got mine to print. You have to have the coupon printer download, I am not sure where I got mine, I am fairly new to all this coupon stuff.

I will have to check here in Alabama. May be a little late, but will try, my mother collects this line and sets up a whole room with a whole city and train going around it all! Thanks.

This post reminds me that I need to fill out a rebate form for my card. I bought from Verizon about a month ago and I walked out of the store paying no more then $100 (sorry I can't remember exactly how much and can't find papers right now) but there was a rebate form for me to send in and I think it is worth half. I do not have phone service through them because I have an excellent unlimited minutes plan, so I signed up for the aircard service only. I only have a laptop and the service is so great, that I am dropping my cable internet service and going to strictly use the aircard. I will look at the papers tomorrow when I will not bother my fiance and I will update if the figures are different.

I bought an acer laptop, specifically the Aspire 3610 and have not had ANY problems at all. I am self employed and use this for work and personal use and it is great. I have XP and I put Office Professional 2007 on it. I also have Nero 7 on it, which is a pretty large program and it runs great. Now I did do a complete uninstall of a lot of stuff that came on it which took up too much space. My computer runs 24/7. I probably should turn it off more, but I don't. The only issue I have now is the battery does not want to stay charged, but this is after almost a year of use and I just found out the other day that you are not supposed to leave the battery running when you have it plugged into the wall, as that will put extra strain on your battery. Soooo.......I think Acer's are great. I definately think there is no reason to spend the extra money on a "name brand" if you don't need anything with "bells n whistles"
