Look at the current crop of sets from Sony, Samsung and LG. The better displays (the actual display panel) are only on 4k sets. The 4k sets have more HDMI inputs. Higher refresh rates. Not saying the 1080p sets are junk. But if you want a set with the most features and bang for your buck it will more than likely be a 4K set. As I said I'm not buying into the hype. I am equating 4K to 3D. It is an added feature and selling point that really doesn't raise the price much when comparing apples to apples. Don't get me wrong. There are plenty of decent sets out there that are not 4K. But for me a TV is not an every other year purchase. I want a display and features that I will be happy with for at least 5 years. My current Sony set replaced a JVC DLP set I had for over 8 trouble-free years. For some people basic is more than enough. But you need to know what you are buying. Just because it says 1080p does not mean it is gonna have a great picture. Now curved sets that is a different story. I would not take a curved screen if you gave it to me. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

It is honestly going to be hard to find a good set that is not 4K. Most of the non 4k sets are being dumbed down with lesser quality displays, less inputs, etc. That is how they are making the 4k sets more appealing. I bought one a few months ago. A Sony 55" Trilumos set with the Android OS. I got a really good deal on it. TBH I can't say that the picture is that much better than a 1080p set for 1080p content. 4k content is not really out there in abundance yet. And I can't say I am really interested in it. It gets to the point that too much detail is distracting. And can be annoying. It brings out flaws. Especially in faces in relation to skin complexion. LOL I just could not constitute paying a few hundred less and getting a far inferior set. And if nothing else this set is futureproof on the off chance that 4k really catches on. But I am pretty sure that will not happen. I run across people every day that still do not have a blu-ray player. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

Wasn't really planning on getting a new console since my XBOX 360 collects dust. But I ended up picking up a PS4 Uncharted bundle at Kohls on Thanksgiving for $299 (plus $90 Kohls cash). Actually got the last one on the shelf right after they opened. My deciding factors..... The PS4 has the ability to play 3D blu-rays. Just got a new Sony 4k set a few months ago that also has 3D. How often I will use it I don't know. But it would be nice to have the ability to try it if I want to. The PS4 seems to be the one that is more forgiving not having an internet connection. I just moved and have no broadband options. The Last of Us. Been wanting to play that game since it was released. I will say I have always preferred the XBOX because of Halo and Gears of War exclusives. Had a PS3 for a bit but liked the 360 I had better. I'm pretty happy with my decision. Right now I am picking up some older and remastered games like Tomb Raider, Watch Dogs and Call of Duty Ghost because they were dirt cheap on Black Friday. Gonna grab The Last of Us as soon as it drops in price. Not really interested in spending $60 to have a brand new game. I won't be playing online so there is no hurry to grab the newest games before the online popularity runs out. Though I am bummed I can't get in on Star Wars Battlefront. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

I sometimes wish I had gone this route. Software based sets just do not play nice at times. Both the Samsung 32" smart TV I bought last year and the Sony 55" 4K Android set I got a few months ago suffer from software issues from time to time. Once that happens you are at the mercy of the OS. Makes just watch TV or a movie a chore. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

The rest of my two orders came in today. Wasn't expecting them until Tuesday. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

I too think things should go back to the way they were. Make Black Friday Black Friday again. It has become a competition to who can open earlier now. JC Penny opening at 3pm. Ridiculous. It is just gonna keep getting earlier and earlier. They should just have strictly online sales on Thursday. Include all of the doorbusters. That way people have options. No matter what people will still come out on Friday. Some people like picking up stuff in person and impulse buying. Others refuse to shop online. And some of these stores offering Thursday only deals just to entice people out and away from their families is just wrong. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

From looking at ads and watching discussions it looked to me like the Fitbit was the hot thing this year. But everywhere I went today I saw piles of them. What is the big deal with these things. And did stores just over order anticipating high sales? Tap'd from my 6 Plus

First online item, the Ninja system arrived today. Didn't even realize it. Saw an email saying it was delivered. Walked right by it sitting outside and didn't even notice. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

Was able to score one of the 6 PS4s at Kohls last night getting there at 5:30. Also got the movie tickets. Also got the Oneida 82 piece flatware set. The rest was non doorbuster stuff. Online Kohls on Monday got the Samsung Soundbar and Ninja Complete System. Also some towels and bathroom carpets. Best Buy online Monday got Insurgent, Mocking Jay 1 and Pitch Perfect 2 on blu ray for 9.99. Also got the $20 HP printer, Sandisk 128gb thumb drive and 32gb micro SD card. Amazon got Cinderella blu ray for 9.99. That sold out super fast. And that is a wrap for BF deals for me. Heading out to some smaller stores like AC Moore and Movie Stop in a little while. Also gonna stop by my local Harley dealership and see if I can spend some of my reward points. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

Never shopped at Kohls on BF even though I am a frequent customer. But they had some good deals this year that appealed to me. Did a good part of my Kohls shopping online Monday. But still wanted the PS4. Had previous plans so was not able to get there early. Got there at 5:30 and didn't hold much hope. Ended up getting one of the movie passes. Asked about the doorbusters and the only got 6 PS4s. Doors opened and headed straight for, or where I thought they would be while my gf redeemed the movie voucher. After being directed to where the game systems were I managed to snag the last PS4. With that out of the way we were free to shop casually. Which was no problem. No huge crowds to fight through. Ended up with some Christmas decorations, some house warming towels for my daughters new house and the 82 piece Oneida silverware set. Used the 15% coupon on everything except the PS4.. All in all after this week I have $180 in Kohls cash to spend. Saved quite a bit too. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

Went by all of the big stores around 1pm today and the only ones with lines were Best Buy and Target. Target had maybe 4 people and Best Buy around 20. Came back to town around 5:30 and Target line went all the way to the other end of the building. Hit Kohls and got in line was close enough to get one of the 100 free movie tickets. Hit Best Buy about 8:30 and it was still a zoo. Called it a night. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

Yup. I am surprised myself. We had lunch at the beach with my girlfriends dad. Were not even planning on going. But figured we would stop by on the way home. Already redeemed the fandango voucher at customer service. We were 93/100 and the PS4 is safe in our shopping bag. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

I actually scored the last one. Not bad for being almost 100 people back, getting there at 5:30 and them only having 6. They did have quite a few XBOX ONES. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

Read where someone called corporate about tickets for the doorbuster items. I'm in line and they are only doing tickets for a TV. And I just got told they only had around 6 PS4s. Chances are slim to nil. If nothing else I got a free movie. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

Some of the stores have the Uncharted bundle with a physical disc. Amazon is one I noticed. Moot point for Kohls since both of the $349 bundles are now unavailable. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

Won't let me add to cart. Says unavailable but still has the add to cart button. And just noticed the Uncharted collection is a digital download not a physical disc. Not happy about that. I moved and don't have any broadband options here. Tap'd from my 6 Plus

Pretty much everyone else but Kohls is now selling the PS4 Uncharted bundle online for $299. Really wish Kohls would just bite the bullet and do the same. Not like it is gonna be a hot super hard to find deal. Tap'd from my 6 Plus
