  1. I know this is real vague info but just saw on my news report @ A Sacramento, CA Best Buy approx 3 tents in line Looked like the footage could have been shot last night or early this morning, so maybe more by now. I know saying Sacramento is fairly vague...but that's all they said, not what area of Sacramento.
  2. NO NO NO! That's what my weather woman just said for our local forecast. Ughhh. I'm going to keep up hope though....just a day or two ago they were saying clear skies & warmer temps, so since it's still a few days away I'm going to use positive thinking that it will change again! My first Black Friday experience, I was just hanging with my sisters who were in line & it began to rain, we just covered ourselves under a big jacket I had & laughed...but it only lasted about 20 minutes and we didn't even get in line until 3am...we weren't out all night. So two things, if you've ever camped out in the rain, how did you handle it? Second, what is the weather predicted to be in your neck of the woods?
  3. Another disappointed here! I was really holding out for a $150 netbook....nope....assuming OM holds to their original release, I will be there. Especially as nothing else in the BB ad is screaming to me. Even the DSi bundle, like someone above mentioned, is being offered at Target & Kmart. The only thing that worries me about OM, is that they open so late...so I'm either going to have to have someone wait in line for me there...or send them to do my other shopping.
  4. I was going to mention Kohls also, I noticed all their Fisher Price toys will be 50% off. I do feel you & wish there were more, my yongest dd will be 1 year on Jan. 2nd, so I have Christmas & her birthday. One tip, if you don't mind second hand, is to check out Once Upon a Child. I picked up the FP laugh & learn house that is normally $80 for $24...it was in perfect condition.
  5. Last year I did the outlets close to me at their midnight opening. It was MADNESS. Most of the stores are teeny tiny, so you're sandwiched in like sardines....the lines are outragious...honestly, it was the least fun I've ever had bf shopping. I will not do it again! I'd rather wait in a BB line on BF anyday compared to BF shopping at my outlets!
  6. Yes, so if you do want to put on layaway ahead of time & get the bf prices, then you need to do it within 7 days before BF
  7. okay, so I have a question for you guys. I bought my dd a regular DS (lite I think?) a month or so ago when it was on sale at Target for $99. Kmart on BF is going to have the DSi for $169 including 5 games. So should I return the DS I bought, hold on to the money & apply it to the DSi at KMart? Is it too risky? It sounds as if their stock issues are so-so on BF... Thanks!
  8. I know that WalMart has one...You buy it for around $3 & can add cash to it for free I believe and if you cash your check there it is $3 & they can put it on their for free. Where as a lot of the ones like the prepaide Visa's, MasterCards, you can't reload it, these you can, and you can follow the amount you have on there online. After a month or two there is a $3 service fee each month.
  9. Both! A lot of my wants for Christmas are my needs too! Last year I scored on a great comforter from Khols & a new telephone from Target. These didn't hold out until Xmas, but I considered them early presents to me since I really needed them.
  10. This goes to all people....not just you horrible people risking your unborn childrens lives by going out BF (I'm being so sarcastic here....I was BF shopping at 8 months pregnant last year & we survived ) While you do need to wash your hands frequently (any time of they year...staff is just as nasty as H1N1) you need to make sure you are applying lotion to your hands also. The more you wash your hands (or apply sanitizer) the more they dry out, making them chaffed & easier to get cracks...which give germs more entrances to your body. Second....if your hands are cracked...skip the sanitizer...most of them only skim the surface of your hands, they don't get into the cracks to kill any germs there. Also, please don't think if you are unaffected, that a mask will save you....the virus can enter in through your eyes also. Masks are best used for those already infected, to not spread it further. Germs can live on your clothes, just as they do on that door knob you are opening up with your sleeve. So how soon are you going to wash your sleeve next, versus how soon are you going to wash your hands next, is something to consider? Finally, the virus is in its incubation period 3 days before you see any symptoms...so there are tons of people out there that have no idea they are sick. And with that....H1N1 will not be deterring me from my holiday shopping. I'm out constantly, probably the most of which at my daughters school, where I work in the lunch room 3 days a week with 300+ kids. Bring on Black Friday!
  11. Sorry but I think that manager statement is semi bull****....I don't know one large retail operation that is closed on Easter and many of them are open on Thanksgiving also. My nieces boyfriend was working in the automotive dept in Walmart last Thanksgiving...so I know they were open, and who was getting tires on Tday anyway lol....but sorry on the tangent... Depending on what they have this could be excellent....but I'm on the hunt for a good cheap netbook, so I may be in line else where on T-day anyway!
  12. I know guilliam, my mouth dropped at $200 per kid. Even my niece that I'm very fond of, I helped raise and is an older teenager, the most I have ever given her worth of presents is $150...oh, and that's not having any other close children to buy for! Anyhow, throw the budget out the window. Don't let money guide you, buy for each child what you think they would appreciate & enjoy, rather that is $25 or $75
  13. Double nit pick Samhain - Samhain on November 1st - http://www.chalicecentre.net/samhain.htm The Irish word Samhain is derived from the Old Irish samain, samuin, or samfuin, all referring to 1 November - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samhain
  14. Oh yes to that...I just hope I can hold myself to it
  15. I personally love Happy Holidays because it is all inclusive and I consider myself fairly open minded towards others. I will shop where ever has the best deals. That's why I'm here at gotta deal.com, not gotta deal at places that only decorate & say what I like.com btw...I do participate in Christmas & am doing most of my shopping for Christmas on black friday, and I still don't care how they decorate or what they say. I also LOVE the colors blue & silver & for the longest time my tree was decorated mostly in those colors...gasp!
  16. haha, a few tried that one year when I was waiting at Best Buy....they had no chance to get through those doors...not only were the employees pretty on top of it, the rest of the line had quite a bit to say to them!
  17. Normally I bring a chair, sleeping bag, reading material and a few snacks/water bottles, besides bank card & cash, that I stash in different pockets. I hate dealing with purses & can't do them on bf at all. I dress in layers because it's cold outside, but it gets so warm inside. This year however, I am determined to get a Netbook at a goooooood price, so I may be camping out for a bit...I'm sure my list will then be longer of what I'm bringing.
  18. I'm definitely on the hunt for a Netbook. I'm prepared to skip all Thanksgiving festivities to be in line if need be. I know my dh really wants one, so I'd like to do that for him. We bought dd5 a DSlite when they were on sale at Target recently, so games/accessories for that, along with games for our Wii & dh's Xbox 360. I wouldn't mind getting a little camcorder, a decent one, but at an okay price, that's a backburner item for me right now though. Oh, and of course some nice Fisher Price toys for my youngest dd's first Christmas. I'm hoping some of their Laugh & Learn items come down in price
  19. Yep, last year I went when I was about 8 months pregnant, I was due on Dec. 31st. I started at the outlets around midnight and went through until about 10am in the morning. I did get some braxton hicks, so make sure you drink lots of water & take frequent rests. Like a pp said, I did get some great sleep afterwards!
