We have 8 kids, when they were all young and at home I would buy a certain wrapping paper for each child then keep a small piece in my notebook with that childs name on it.I would wrap the large unhideable gifts and place them under the tree right away. Then when Christmas finally arrived we would have the kids pass the gift from one to the other until we finally revealed who it belongs to. They had fun doing this, now the gifts are smaller ( down to 3 teens at home) and the grandbabies reap the rewards for the bigger gifts ,so I dont have to worry so much

Our school district sets up Angel trees in each school every year . Our families pick from each elementary/middle/high....they also include the parents and a local senior citizen home. After the cut off date the "caring communities" at each school shop for the "angels" left on the tree. It can break your heart to see a 12 year old ask for a used bed or blankets....I like it because we know we are making someone in our community have a Merry Christmas.

For several of my grandchildren (3-8) I'm putting together a dress up trunk for both boys/girls....(the pirate costume for 1.99 on here the other day gave me the idea for my grandsons).

I just received the My Little Ponies I ordered.....all 4. That was the limit set by Amazon. Between the bears/dog's and these It's a good start to the Christmas giving season.....I know a few kiddies who will be very happy on Christmas morning, between my SIL and Toys for Tots and our Community Tree.....the bargains I can catch I share.

I found these on ehow: Create large lollipops by stapling the paper plates together and covering them with colored cellophane. Attach to a wooden dowel and place around the party area for decoration. Create centerpieces by putting a plush Yorkie in a brown basket for "Toto" or just put a pair of red ruby slippers on each table. Make a large banner to hang on the front door that says, "Welcome to the Land of Oz." How about Christmas karaoke at your son's house one night.......make your own Christmas cards......make cookies together to give with the recipe to neighbors.......make the paper chain from christmas wrapping paper to hang in her room......get some of her friends together and have a snowman or Santa themed sleep over everyone wear season pj's and you could buy some inexpensive fleece and make scarves or clear glass ornaments and decorate them slide a photo in each one and date them......not sure where you live but....how about getting a cheap tree taking it to a park and decorating it while you have a picnic.....take photos together at stores with holiday item on ie: wreathes snowman ,Santa hats on poinsettias in your hair...just clown around with it then make a memory book with all the great photos of eachother
