Oh, man. I guess it's off to Walgreens then. I seriously had no clue. Thanks for confirming for me, bugsette!

My sister just texted me and asked if we are doing St. Nick tonight! I had no idea it was tonight. I'm debating running out to the store to get something because I don't want the kids to feel bad if they hear other kids talking about it Monday morning at school. Does anyone else do St. Nick and it is it really tonight?

Left the kids with grandma and grandpa and headed over to TRU at 9:30. We were about 20th or so in line. Proceeded to freeze our behinds off and watch the line grow to epic proportions behind us. It eventually wrapped around the entire building and lapped us at the front. Line jumpers were getting ready and then all of a sudden the people that had lapped us decided to try and blend into the front of the line. There was yelling and screaming, pushing and shoving. Finally at about 11:45, the police showed up. Everyone was cheering! They formed a line at the front, like a riot line or something and held back the people that were trying to creep their way in. Got in and got everything we needed (plus a couple extra things) and checked out in the video game area. Good thing because the regular checkouts were mobbed by then. Made it out at around 12:20. Have never seen anything like that in my life! Drove around for awhile and went to Webb's for coffee. Hit Sears around 3. Mall was open so we got to wait inside. Got the mini cameras and left. Went to ON and waited a half an hour so we could get some of the $5 fleece. They came and told us that they would only let so many in and then close the gate but we made it in. Headed to Walmart a bit after 5. Got a bunch of things but had to park really far away. Store was mobbed and luckily we were able to check out in jewelry because we didn't have any really big items. Made it out in under an hour. Hit Target. Not much left but did get Up and Monsters V Aliens and a couple other movies. Again lines down every aisle to the back of the store for checkout but the lady saw that we didn't have much and let us check out in the food court. Out in under 30 mins. Drove to Menards for a 3 piece carpet set for my sister. Line was ridiculous. Got some breakfast at the BK across the street and watched the line not move at all. Gave up, went home and got some sleep. On the way to pick up the kids, we tried Menards again and got the dang carpet set plus a pile of 49 cent hats and gloves. Overall, a good day. Not sure if I will brave TRU again though.

We are Christmas Eve wrappers. My dh and I pull out all the presents and separate them into a pile for each kid. Then we each wrap a pile. I think we just like to do it together.

It was limit one zhu zhu and one accessory per household when I went, but because there were not as many of us as they had expected, he let us go around the line twice.
-
The last time they did the 50, they opened at 6am. I went at 4am. I was first in line and more people started showing up around 4:30am. Most of the people came around 5. There was only about 30-35 of us in line.

Just got home from kmart a little bit ago. We ran into an old friend who works there. According to him, there will definately be a Thanksgiving sale as usual. He is a sales associate and has to work that day so I'm pretty confident that he is right. He was able to get us copies of the ad early a few years back so I will see what he can come up with for me tomorrow.

Who's got the best deal running right now? I would prefer a B & M store over online but am willing to consider anything right now. DH wants one and doesn't want to wait until BF. He also does not want the Arcade version. *I am going to see if the BB deal will change his mind about waiting though*

I wonder if this would work with other types of nuts? Almonds? This sounds like the nuts we get at the fair! I want to make this one for sure. Thanks for posting it!

Both my kids are home recovering from swine flu and are bored stiff. I decided that today is the day for them to make out the Christmas lists. They are both busy scribbling down things in their little notebooks. So cute! When did y'alls kids make out their lists? Have they been asking for certain things all year? What kinds of things are on their lists this year? (Maybe they can give my 11 year old dd some ideas..she's having a little trouble)

And I wanted to add, that I understand not having much money and still wanting to get things for family. If BF was an opportunity for someone to get a gift at a good price and they felt ok about taking their kids out, I feel like that is up to them. I know that I don't feel like it's anyone's business how I choose to raise my kids and I would not make it my personal business how y'all raise y'alls kids. Live and let live, I think. And I love the story about helping out the young mama. I was her once and would have been so grateful for someone to do the same for me.

I just had a talk about BF with my kids. DS is 8 and wanted to go but I told him that he was absolutely not old enough. He was disappointed but understands. He wants to know how old he has to be before he can go! LOL! DD is 11 now and wants to go. I'm not sure that she's ready..she has no idea how bad it can get up here. In Tx, it was much friendlier crowds because we lived in a small college town with a population under 40000 and it was no colder than 50 degrees even at 3 am (she didn't go then either but was not interested). Up here, in Milwaukee, things can get really dangerous for anyone with the huge crowds and crabby freezing shoppers. How could y'all tell when your kids were old enough? If it makes any difference, she is a very small kid..about the size of a 7 year old. She's very mild and sweet which makes her an awesome kid to shop with and normally I love taking her out to the mall and lunch dates just the two of us. However, I'm wondering if she will be afraid or if I should be afraid that she will get hurt. Oh, and we would not be camping out or trying to get at TVs or anything. What do you think?

Deferred Billing code for oriental trading?
misstaken replied to taterbugtwins's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
I've got one in my email that is deferred until Dec 1st with purchase of $49 or more. If you want to try that one...WCX8459. Doesn't give you much extra time but a little bit and has a lower purchase limit. -
We have an old cistern in the basement. It was capped off years ago and is very deep. I went down there when we moved in and cleaned it out. I will be using it for a "hidey hole" this year. When we lived in Texas, I used the storage shed outside. I told the kids that there was a rattler that lived under there and that they should never play near it. They were terrified of that shed! Mean, maybe but it made a great place for hiding even the biggest gifts!
