  1. Amazon usually has very competitive prices. You may want to stay inside and shop online :0)
  2. Hmmm, I know Walmart is famous for putting different items out for black friday with different upc's/packaging,etc, but I wonder...if something was put on layaway before black friday and the exact item appeared on sale in the ad, would you be able to price adjust the item that's already on layaway for the BF price? I know it's doubtful, but it's something to think about. I know, in the past, the movies and games just had promo stickers on them, but the UPC#'s were the same as what was in the regular movie/game section...
  3. Big Jim Slade, My husband and I had a blast taking part in the webcasts last year. I'm so glad to hear you'll be doing them again! :0)
  4. At my work, we all just exchanged giftcards last year and it was boring. This year, we had to bring actual gifts valued at $25.00 and noone knew who brought what...it had to be non-gender specific and we have people of all ages, but I know the people at my work all LOVE chocolate, so I went to dillards and bought a huge 3lb box of gourmet chocolate for around $30.00....that was last week, this week the recipient of the chocolate told me how annoyed she was that all she got was a lousy box of chocolates....I guess, sometimes you just can't win lol! :0) (I didn't tell her I brought the chocolates cause she would have felt like an idiot because she was complaining to me about them...I felt bad she didn't like it though...)
  5. 1- Polar Express 2- The Santa Clause
  6. Not a dumb question at all. In my area, the Salvation Army provides a bag for each child's gifts which is clear and they staple the child's info to the bag of unwrapped gifts.
  7. My 21 year old sister has asked for a seatbelt belt in lime green...she's always up for the different items, so she had to send me a link so I could figure out what the heck a seatbelt belt was...so I had to laugh when I saw this! http://cgi.ebay.com/Seatbelt-Buckle-Belt-New-Material-Various-Styles-/280492253988?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var&hash=item870ae154fa#ht_1133wt_103
  8. It used to be that way here in FL a few years back. It seemed like every kid over the age of 4 was asking for ipods and gaming consoles (could have been legitimate as it wasn't infants...), so I looked for the younger ones who wanted more simple gifts. I would definatly raise a red flag if I saw ipads for infants, but I asked the worker about the other children who were requesting expensive gifts and she told me that usually they had a parent present who helped write the wants of the child, but that the children who could write had written their own wants, thus the reason for the expensive gifts. My husband and I go every year on the last day of the angel tree and like to pick a child or two that hadn't been picked, shop and return the gifts on the same day. We live in an area that was hit extremely hard by the economy, so last year, I worked to pick up as many toys as I could throughout the year at a bargain as well. Usually, we see a tree with a few names left, but last year, the tree was so covered, you couldn't even see it and there were stacks and stacks of names still on the table. My husband and I looked at the needs and they were so much different than the years past. We chose 6 children who wanted racecars, dolls and clothes and shopped for them so we could help as many children as possible instead of choosing one that wanted a bike etc (we don't have that much extra income). I also brought back the bags and bags of toys I'd collected (most from the 90% off summer clearance at CVS which included bubbles, water games (we live in FL) and waterslides, etc) and requested some of those items go to the stacks of children that hadn't been picked. Also, I asked what happens to the kids that don't get picked and apparenty, they get a box of pre-determined gifts and it's the same box for every child. I can only imagine what it might be like as a child to get those same generic gifts each year :0( Also, the parents receive the gifts for the children so if one child gets a ton of gifts and the other one gets very little, they probably can spread it out to make it a little more even. At the end of the Angel Tree days, every toy counts so if you happen to have a toy or some new toys you don't have a need for, please consider giving to a child that doesn't get picked. :0)
  9. There are already people camping out at a Best Buy in FL...way too extreme for me. Living in FL, I've come to realize that there are lots of crazy people here. Over a week out is a bit ridiculous....Here's the link to the article As they are taking turns, I wonder if this will make those behind them in line annoyed....
  10. Wow, some awesome deals even though there are a lot of rebates! Thanks Brad! :0)
  11. I wanted to win that contest in the worst way last year and created new Best Buy lyrics to a Christmas song and sent it in. I think I had the exact amount of words they limited you to and I didn't win...there was something on there about creativity and originality...lot of good that did me lol...it was funny though. Right after I sent in my submission, they had a Best Buy commercial singing a song about Best Buy to the tune of a Christmas song...my husband watched quietly and then looked at me and said "your lyrics were totally better!" At least he liked my submission:)
  12. Wow! What are the odds? I'll be in Stuart, FL too! :)
  13. This recipe is for people like me who are not really good at cooking, but still like to cook :) 1 pkg. (10.75 oz.) frozen pound cake, thawed. 1 can (16oz.) vanilla frosting. Red decorating gel Slice the pound cake into 8 equal pieces. Press lightly to make an indention on the cake with a candy cane cookie cutter (use a large one). With a sharp knife cut out the candy cane shape. One per each slice. Place cutouts on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. Transfer frosting into a large microwave-safe measuring cup; microwave on High, stirring at 10 second intervals, until frosting is thin enough to pour, about one minute. Pour frosting over tops and sides of each candy cane cake to cover completely. Let stand until set, about 10 minutes. Use red decorating gel, to pipe stripes onto each cake.
  14. Wohoo! I swear today has been a bad day and then I come home to find out I won! I'm so excited and will wear it proudly! Thanks so so so much :0)
  15. Ohh this is always my favorite contest! :) Just about Midnight Half asleep for the best price Checking my list twice The line starts to grow My friends wave and say hello So cold it could snow My eyes open wide As we shoppers rush inside I don't run, I stride :) Going down the aisles With my husband half-hostile Really makes me smile Finding all the gifts On my family's Christmas lists Puts me in a bliss I don't want to wait Until shoppers get irate Glad I wasn't late
  16. I totally agree with you Lusha120. There are too many rude impatient people out there trying to cheat the system. I don't know where the holiday spirit has gone, but I hope it comes back. I work hard to create holiday traditions in our small family and BF used to kick off those traditions...this year I'm not so sure.
  17. I went to Walmart Last year on BF and was the first one at the checkout lines at about 5:05 AM. I had my husband (then fiance) with me and after he and I grabbed what we wanted most, he shopped while I took our Pricematching items (small things like CD's, DVD's etc. to the register) The cashier had no clue about how to pricematch an item (why she was working at all on bf, I don't know), but they called the manager over and everything went smoothly. They did require I hand over my best buy, target and any other ads I was pricematching and the manager was specific that she needed the entire ads (all pages) to keep so that they could do the pricematching. She said that when they go through the pricematched items at the end of the day, they have to have the items circled and that one of the managers must verify that everything was purchased at the correct time in accordance with the ads. Although it took about 20 mins for everything to be correctly adjusted, they didn't mind pming for me because I made sure that I bought the exact items from the ad. Many of the CD's were from best buy which had low limits (like min. 10-20 per store) so it was great to be able to get what I needed at WM without having to go through the madness of BB.
  18. Brad, you did an amazing job on this! If every store did HALF of the things on the list the whole BF experience could be even more awesome than it is now! :0)
  19. http://www.6ave.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=VSLVL760-4GBThis is the best deal I've seen on a new netbook (too bad I don't need one) anyhow, the specs and link are below-- Visual Land V-Net VL760-4GB 7" Netbook with 4GB Flash Memory - Black (Limit 2) SKU: VSLVL760-4GB 7 inch TFT 800 x 480 Resolution 4GB Flash Memory 64MB DDR Ram 3 USB Ports Features included: 7 inch TFT 800 x 480 Resolution 4GB Flash Memory 64MB DDR Ram 3 USB Ports SD Card Slot Built-in WiFi Ethernet Port ARM Processor Windows CE 5.0 Headphone Port Mic Port Dual Frontal Speakers 248 MHz Dimensions(WxHxD): 8.25" x 5.5" x 1.25 Weight: 2Lbs Apparently Amazon reviews are not so great, but for younger children, this netbook may be a good buy.
  20. I'm sure I was online and helped set that 2007 stat ...after discovering gottadeal in 07, I don't think i ever got off lol I don't know if the record will be broken this year...the only way I think it could happen is if some of the really good ads are late and everyone has to wait to see them till the last minute and then everyone who hasn't been on for the past few months has BF on the brain and logs on too...I think it's possible :)
  21. Going Out To get The Awesome Deals Early And Leaving
