  1. What a great thing to do! You seem to have a kind and generous spirit! If you can get a deal on plain cheap (as the ink stays on better) coffee mugs, you can use a sharpie to decorate them (Maybe just a "THANKS" or something written on them). Put in the oven and turn it to 475 for 30 mins. As long as the mug is a cheap one without too much coating, your marker art will stick and could make your giftbaskets pop.
  2. I love this time of year too! This year, I may be booking a last minute thanksgiving day cruise. Apparently my cruse ship will be having a black Friday sale but nothing like in the us lol...the only reason I'm not 100% psyched for the cruise is missing the real black friday experience. It sould be interesting to win a shirt and sit next to the other folks paying for wireless Internet to take advantage of the deals too.. My favorite thing about this season is getting to come back to the helpful people on this site. Everyone is so friendly!
  3. Scouring aisles Lists and ads in my pocket I start to smile
  4. A few years back I was stuck in an aisle where people were pushing and trying to get to all of the DVD displays at Walmart and of course, they're cardboard and totally stuffed with bargain DVDs. Well, a woman trying to get through the aisle got mad and rammed the DVD pallet with her cart. The entire display came crashing down resulting in mass chaos as people tripped over and others were trying crawl on the ground to see what DVDs and blu rays had fallen. This was about 3 mins after midnight and I will never forget the sounds of hundreds of DVDs falling into the crowd, people tripping and falling, and my husband telling me this was absurd over and over as we tried to get out of the aisle...never will I go back to wm on black Friday lol amazon is far less insane
  5. My niece who is 9 is all about those Monster High Dolls and also wants an easel (which I've gotten her) as well as leggings, a laptop and Just Dance 3. :)
  6. I'm bummed it's over too, but looking forward to all of the great deals to come thanks to this site! :)
  7. I was hoping the midnight openings wouldn't have so much success. Midnight is too late/early for me. I went out at 4 and had a blast this year, although the crowds were considerably less at that time. I don't blame JCP. I blame TRU and Walmart who continually get earlier and earlier.
  8. When I was a kid, I was extremely skeptical about santa, so I wrote a letter to Santa saying I didn't think he was real. In my stocking that year (I think I was about 8) was my letter. At the bottom was written, "I am real only if you believe in me," which is true on a few levels and was a good enough explanation for me at that age. When my niece was 8, she stopped believing until my dad showed her the NORAD Santa tracker, which seemed proof enough to me. I think 8 is a great age to believe in Santa! :)
  9. I'm usually a daily lurker but not a poster. I will totally be around this site through the new year. It's the only place for the best deals, so you're not getting rid of me!!
  10. Get well soon! I hope you feel better and that you're on the mend. Take care of yourself and thank you for all that you do.
  11. Since you and your mom have such a great relationship, why not treat her to a girl's day out after Christmas and take her to the spa? You could surprise her with something small, like the pillow and then announce your girls day out, you both would have fun together and she'd get to relax and maybe step out of her comfort zone. If she wouldn't like the spa, there is a great neck pillow and eye mask gift set that Brookstone sells. My mother has Parkinson's and is in her 50's and really likes it as it soothes her muscles in her neck. I think you can heat it or put it in the fridge. I can't find the set I gave her, but here is http://www.brookstone.com/nap-therapy-hot-cold-shoulder-wrap?bkiid=ProductDetails|Accesories|635326psomething similar that they sell...
  12. If you are up around 4am, if you spend a few minutes online before heading out, you may be able to score some great deals then because the folks that didn't go to bed on TG and went out shopping will be asleep and the folks that got out a bit later will likely already be on line at some of the stores/malls that open at 4-6. I'm the same kind of bf shopper as you are and refuse to get up that early or stay awake all night. As long as you don't have your heart set on a doorbuster deal, you'll likely get some of the deals you wanted, just, maybe not the very best and of course, electronics and toys are the most in demand. For small items like CDs or DVDs, my favorite method is taking the target/best buy ad into walmart and price matching. As long as it's within the sale ad hours on the ad, you should be able to pricematch. I've done this for many years and never hit a snag. I say definitely go and have fun while the crazy midnight people are sleeping! :0)
  13. I love improv everywhere, the group that does these little social experiments My favorite one is still Frozen Grand Central.
  14. I'm not sure where you get your supplies from, but you could always get stickers printed with the gottadeal logo for generic pens, highlighters, keychains, etc as I know how much that stuff can cost. Coozies are the one thing that I don't like because when you're not using them---99.9%of the time, they collect dust and take up space. I always use the mouse pads that vendors hand out at my job. Usually, The rubber ones seem to be expensive, but those peel and stick ones are really nice and from what I've heard, they're easy and cheaper to print and lighter to ship in bulk. I won a drawstring backpack a few years back and use it for toting my water and keys to the gym. It's easier to take than my purse and that is really awesome. If you're looking for a new promotional products, there's a great vendor my company uses that has everything from aprons to kites that you can put your company logo on. Not sure what your rules on that are, so I won't post it here, but feel free to pm me and I'll send you the website. Thanks for letting us all send you feedback! I think it's pretty cool that you care about our opinions! :)
  15. I can't ever recall seeing a Hobby lobby ad in the past. Do they come out with a black Friday ad? The Hl is on my list this year and I don't know if I should shop now or wait for better deals.
  16. Only the senior citizens usually shop at bealls in my area lol. I think it'd be fun to stand there with them at midnight, but I also think this midnight thing is getting out of hand. Target I can understand but bealls?? Thanks for posting this brad. My MlL will be thrilled to know what'll be on sale.
  17. We did Walmart last year at midnight which was fun because I got interviewed in my gottadeal shirt, but we had items we needed from Office Max, Target, and Kohls as well. We tried to sleep around 8pm on TG, but of course, that didn't work, so we wound up staying up from 8am Thanksgiving until 8am Black Friday morning. As we both have regular 9-5 jobs, it threw us waaay out of whack in our sleeping and we ended up spending the rest of the weekend tired and lounging around the house. This year, we've commited to shopping at 4am or later. There is nothing we need that badly that we need to be up at midnight for. I'm hoping those folks who do go out at midnight will be too tired to brave the long lines for later openings and will head to bed. I guess we'll see...:)
  18. The memories we make every year while we shop for the deals and the amazing feeling when you actually get what you're looking for! :)
  19. How about some of that astronaut ice cream? http://www.thespaceshop.com/neopicecream.html
  20. 1. So THAT's why people bring tents when they wait in line! 2. Let the Black Friday crazyness....BEGIN 3. I told my wife I wanted to go hunting with the guys...now I'm stuck in this mess.
  21. Amazon has The Wizard of Oz (Two-Disc DVD 70th Anniversary Edition) for $5.49.
