  1. I live in an apartment and never get to put up Christmas lights. I just wanted to share this video with everyone that I found on youtube because it is one of the most amazing videos I've ever seen! It totally put me in the Christmas spirit and made me happy I won't have an electric bill like the people in the video! Do you or someone you know decorate your house to this extreme? Do you know anyone that goes so far as to create a light show like this one? My boyfriend's jaw dropped when he saw this video LOL!
  2. you gotta check out the Trans siberian orchestra. It's awesome. Their best CD is "Christmas Eve & Other Stories" It is not a boring orchestral CD like it sounds. Check it out! :)
  3. 3 Ideas! What about taking an early lunch break? With very few people working with you, whoever is in charge of breaks may be more flexible. Have a friend or family member get the items for you. or You could always "accidentally" catch the train late! :0)
  4. I think I need to join the club. I'm driving my boyfriend crazy and I have yet to see one ad! The Gottadeal shirt I won isn't helping things. I told him it's a sign that I'm going to find good deals...
  5. I think the stores should distribute maps of the hot items to the people waiting in line 1 min. before the store opens. This way, although everything is wrapped up and in a different department, the people who really want it will know where it is! I also think it would be fantastic for the stores to offer pricematching openly and honestly, not hide the items. How great would it be to see an ad that said "Your item not in stock, that's ok, we will price match!" Instead of all of the hassles that come with price matching, stores should advertise it so everyone will know. What a great way to get business and capitalize on the unsold (and likely not on sale) merchandise? All the retailers are in competition. What better way for the bigger retailers to compete?
  6. As someone mentioned, those blue IKEA bags are wonderful for carrying a ton of items. I believe they are only about .60 cents and they are fantastic for carrying groceries or lots and lots of small black friday stuff! :)
  7. I am so excited. I never win anything! :0) I will wear this shirt with pride !
  8. I also just emailed http://www.palmbeachpost.com/help/content/help/customer_service.html http://westpalmnews.com/about_us/contact_us.php I really love helping to spread the word. It's fun! I've already told my friends and family about this site. I think everyone should tell their local media so more people can contribute deals they find and can benefit from the savings!
  9. When my sister and I were young and wanted to make presents for family members, we would buy plain white ornaments (that are meant to be painted) from the craft store and would paint them and put glitter and all kinds of stuff on them to make them for that specific family member. We weren't very crafty people but it was fun to paint and decorate the ornaments. We would add colors and details that we thought our family members would like and even though we were small, we felt like we were giving something special. Now, we look back at those ornaments as we put them on my Father's tree. It's wonderful to look back at our "homemade" ornaments.
  10. I agree with dancglady. If you post a message at the local college, I all but guarantee you will get students who are willing to bake some cookies/brownies and sell them. Or, you could contact the local college in your area and see if they are willing to set up donation bins around the school. All you would need is a few boxes and notices about the types of products you are looking for! Just a suggestion :) Good Luck!
  11. I emailed/contacted a whole bunch of news stations in my area including: http://www.wpbf.com/station/index.html http://www.wptv.com/content/about5/default.aspx [email protected] [email protected] http://web.tcpalm.com/news/tipline/form.shtml http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/newstips/sfl-newstips-******-form,0,7371623.htmlstory This is the message I sent to them: Dear local news station: As many people in the area this year are having a tough time making ends meet, I would like to tell you about a website that provides fantastic deals and saves consumers time and money looking for great prices. The day after Thanksgiving is fast approaching, where many people will be looking for the best deals this year. Your viewers would probably be interested to know that there is a wonderful site which shows sale ads early and has fantastic deals year round! The Black Friday site is now open as well at http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com. They even list predictions for the ads at http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/BlackFridayPredictions As times are tight, it's a great idea to direct consumers to www.gottadeal.com because people really could use the assistance. Many people in this area are having a hard time and the holidays make it even more challenging. At http://www.gottadeal.com, consumers can find year-round deals absolutely free, just by visiting the site. I would not be emailing you if I did not totally believe in this site, because it would be a waste of my time as well as yours! But I have saved so much money since becoming a member last year that I would like to suggest that you do a story on this fantastic website. If you are interested, please contact http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/MediaRoom. Thank you for providing excellent news coverage throughout the year and I hope you will consider getting the word out about this fantastic website. Thank you for your time, Kristen C.
  12. A few years back, I was working in a retail job on Black Friday that I hated. I had been told I would not have to go in at 3am and set the ad as I had done for the 3 years previously. The store where I worked offered an amazing discount to employees who worked on Thanksgiving day, so I told them I would work Thanksgiving to be off on Black Friday. Of course, the schedule came out and I was off on Thanksgiving (no great deals for me) and working at 3am on Black Friday! I must add that the store that I worked for never had good deals on Black Friday and the merchandise that was on sale was store-brand merchandise under a different label, so pretty much, it was junk. Anyhow, I was ticked, but I didn't show it. I just smiled and told everyone I worked with how much I was looking forward to working on Black Friday because it was so "exciting". At 3am being a loyal dedicated employee, I showed up to work with a gigantic jacket on (I live in South Florida and it was about 75 degrees), my hair a total mess, white powder on my face to make me appear super pale, and cherry red lipstick (just enough to make me seem even paler). I set the ad while walking around the store at about 1 mile an hour and took my sweet time (the store didn't open till 6). After finishing the ad, I sat down next to the store manager who told me I looked terrible and should go home.... I made it out of there by 5:30, met my boyfriend and was down to the nearest city by 6am (didn't want to be caught by anyone I worked with) and shopped my heart out on Black Friday. :) It made it even better that I got all of my christmas shopping out of the way for my family. I picked up all kinds of smaller, cheaper gifts like dvd's and cd's at fantastic prices. It didn't matter too much about the deals to me, all that mattered was during 7 years of retail work, I never once got to go Black Friday shopping and I had finally gotten my chance! :0) Of course, I didn't like my job and quit for something much better shortly after that Black Friday, but while I was shopping, I made a promise to myself to never work Black Friday again...and I never will. :) Every Black Friday I also make sure to bring candy canes for the cashiers who are much more loyal workers than I ever was. I know that it couldn't be Black Friday without them! :) So, please be kind to your cashiers and the store employees. They probably wish they were out shopping too!
  13. My pet peeve is waiting in a line in the early morning hours of black friday at about 1 or 2 AM and hearing someone walk up and ask a person that they recognize in line:"What are you doing here?!". Duh it's 1 am on the biggest shopping day of the year...what do you think they're doing there? Lol, I don't know if it's just me but every year, I hear that line at least once!
  14. Hey guys, I was in target tonight and saw a great deal on a Sony Blu-Ray player BDP-S300. It was originally $400 but was marked down to $195. I wasn't sure and since this was the only one left (not floor model), I bought it. I brought it home, read a Cnet.com review (6.5/10). I then went to Blockbuster and rented Spiderman 3. The player is hooked up via HDMI to a Sony 37" RPLCD HDTV (760p). I watched most of Spiderman 3 tonight (will finish tomorrow) and I am not sure if I want to keep the blu-ray player. It is super clear but is it worth $200? All the blu-ray dvds are $25-35 although we can rent them for $5 @ blockbuster. Right now I have about 100 reg dvds and a phillips up-convert dvd player, which until I bought the blu-ray was great. For those of you who have a blu-ray player, do you like it? Also is there that much of a difference on a 37" TV? I am 50/50 on whether to keep it If I decide to return it, there isn't a restocking fee as I can package it back up to just the way it came. I just don't want to return it and regret it in 6 months as the Blu Ray players are still $300+.
  15. Thanks so much for posting...I spent $55.XX and saved $142.02! Most of my savings was because of this awesome sandal I found in this sale. I don't know how to post the picture, but they're Women's Teva Karnali Wraptor Sandals originally $100.00 on sale for $27.83. They don't have some sizes, but if you can find your size it's a fantastic deal! http://www.rei.com/outlet/product/775126 Also picked up a pocket knife for my boyfriend for $4.83 which was originally $20.00. http://www.rei.com/outlet/product/769758 Thanks again for telling us about such a great sale!
  16. I asked how long this sale would be going on for, and they said it would be thru the summer. They also mentioned the possibility that the sale may go to buy 2-get 4 free sometime in August!
  17. I bought it around Christmas for 9.99. It's cute, but it's not really worth 20.00. Don't get me wrong, it's very cute but the collander started to rust after a few uses. :0(
  18. I managed to find a short fuzzy blue robe for 90% off to bring it to $4.00 as well as some work socks on clearance. After the 5.00 coupon I got in my email, my total was .88 cents! Even the cashier was impressed!
  19. I didn't see this coupon till today and I'm hoping to get there in time to catch the earlybird specials. Thanks so much! :-)
  20. I must agree that the CVS photos are of a terrible quality. I got 30 for free a while back and they turned out awful. They were printed from the kodak kiosk that the customers use and they looked awful. I think it has something to do with the computer system because I have printed photos using the same kiosk (off a memory card) and they turned out fine. They came out fuzzy and some actually had spots on them. I used walgreens for my photos a while back and they were EXCELLENT! I scanned in a very very old polaroid pic and blew it up to an 8x10 and it seriously looked like an original. If you are willing to pay just a little for your photos, I'd recommend Walgreens!
  21. Hey Thanks a lot! I got a cute pic of my bf and me to give to him on v-day. Thanks again, he's gonna love it! :)
  22. I'm in the north side of south florida and it's 3.10 at the lowest...it's pretty sad when you think about all the money the oil companies make and the fact that we can't do anything about it...
  23. DrFish, sorry to hear about your fire. I hope you and your family were physically unhurt. As far as fishing reels go, like other people mentioned check out Bass Pro Shops if there is one nearby. Also, check out Dick's Sporting Goods they are pretty good. Stay away from Sports Authority, the prices are no better and the in stock selection is next to nothing. You may want to www.thehulltruth.com It is an excelllent resource for all your boating and fishing needs. Not to mention someone may know of a place to find good prices on your TLDs. The site is highly recomended. I've been over there about 4 years.
  24. Great Thank you, I will look into Ölevia. This seems like another up and coming brands such as Vizio...maybe I can get my gf to spurge for a 42". I appreciate the info!!
