our No-No list Pokemon/Yughio cards DS games (Yep my DD took all of her games last year on a band trip that she wasn't suppose to take them on and left them or lost the whole case of them on the bus. She has the DS and two games (oh and two new ones she purchased with her own money) I refuse to buy anymore for her.

We had two and one that I swear we took the batteries out of it and it would still make a noises and it would go off when you were home by yourself and it was sitting in a box with no light or anything very very creepy. Needless to say its gone.

Maybe they already knew there was not money on it , where they (the friends) also coworkers? I wouldn't call the person out on it, you could kid with the coworkers/ friends that said something about nothing being on it saying that you really did enjoy the ornament (maybe even place it on your tree and take a pic).

I am sorry you are having to go through this. I know it's hard when she lives so close by. Maybe you need to talk to your DH to prevent this from happing in the future if you want that time with your side of the family. Your DH prob just doesn't want her to be home alone durning the holidays.

DD 15 just went from wanting a laptop to a runescape membership ($20) and guitar hero III or Harvest Moon for the PS2 (some new HM game) Heck wish I would have known that before BF cause she's got the laptop. I got GHIII at red octaine for DS 13 when i was $39.

PJ's, non slip socks, soft pepermint, photo book, a memory book for her to write in or a recipe book that she can hand write receipes in to pass down. My Great Grandmother is 99. We get her PJ's and the soft pepermint.

What about a family portrait in a nice frame, something for their cats, then gc to a local restaurant. It's not really a unique gift though
