I haven't done a real tree in years but when I did I always bought it on BF weekend and put it up. I made sure that it had water and I didn't put it in front of the window.

I would like to get a bigger TV for my bedroom so we will see if I find a good deal.

I put mine up the weekend after Thanksgiving. I only do one now as I have moved to a smaller place so decorating doesn't take as long.

I am so dreading decorating for Christmas. I have tried with fall & Halloween decorations but the kitten loves to bat everything around and then the dog likes to finish destroying it. When I use to have cats they never really were interested in the tree except to bat at the lower branches so I always kept unbreakables down there and it was a real tree. I now have a 4 month old kittie that loves to get into every thing. I think I will only put unbreakables and see how it goes. Hopefully I have enough as most of my ornaments are breakable.

I didn't see any of that stuff except for the tags and ribbon.

Mine is $10 off $25. I use to get the $10 off $10 but the last two are $10 off $25. Oh well I think they know that I don't shop there that much any more.

I just bought a potato ricer and they do make good mashed potatoes. The best part was my 16 yr old wanted to make them because of the new gadget.

I have never been away at Christmas but I do think your children would love it. You can still do the rituals like the previous poster stated and have a great time. I learned years ago that kids don't really notice that they got less gifts unless we bring it to their attention.
