  1. I'm in need of a long decorative curtain rod to hold my new clearance drapes. Has anyone ever seen this type of thing go on clearance, and if so, would they be in with the regular full priced rods since they are so long and probably wouldn't fit on an endcap? thanks!
  2. I have gotten all the way home and realized that I wasn't charged for something that was wedged in a corner of my cart (a jar of baby food) or once, a baby blanket that was in between two trash cans I was buying and neither the cashier nor I thought to pull them apart and see what might be in there. In the case of the blanket, I went back to the store with it and just went through the line again and bought it again, never mentioning what happened. In the case of the jar of baby food, I just wrote it off because I knew in the past few months they had easily overcharged me/doubled charged me for something worth that much. My neighbor thought I was nuts for taking back the blanket but there's no way I could have dealt with the guilt over it. Plus I love my Target and don't want to hurt their business in any way... :) BTW, regarding coupons, our cashiers do not seem to mind if you have a lot of coupons in the least. When I do my monthly big shopping trip I always use a ton of coupons, and try my best to stack them all facing the same way, but sometimes it looks like a crumpled pile and they don't seem to consider it a bother at all. It usually takes them no time to go through them all. Most of them show up under the item they are for on the receipt, but when they don't and they beep or whatever, the cashier just hits some button super quickly and they come off at the end. I never used expireds or ones for stuff I'm not buying, but in any case I don't think they even remotely look at them.. I guess I'm just really lucky with the staff at my store. I really have no complaints in that area at all.. In fact, in the past two weeks, the manager who lurks in the checkout area has twice opened up a new line just for me and then closed it again. (or maybe they just wanted me and my brood to get the heck outta there, lol) But they often do that so no one has to wait more than a minute or two before checking out. Did I mention I love Target?? :)
  3. I can't say for sure at other stores, but I've never seen bedding go lower than 75% at my store...
  4. thank you SO much! I just got 3 of the St. Patrick's Day bears for my kids. They are so cute! The shipping is high for 3 bears but your code made up for it - thanks again!
  5. those 24 cent perfume samples had $3.00 coupons in them??? I must have missed that post - darn - I knew I shouldn't have passed those up -our store had a huge bin of them! great deals today - good work!
  6. picked up some Woolrich faux suede drapery panels today (54 x 84) for $7.48 each (75%) off, as well as several sizes of cloth tablecloths at 75% off and a cute vinyl ducky shower curtain that ended up being like $3.xx.
  7. me too, but did you just read the latest study out on the level of bacteria in 70% of all tested restaurant lemons? When I saw the article yesterday, I nearly lost my lunch as I had just had about 3 cups of hot tea with plenty of lemon. Now I may steer clear!
  8. no problem - I found it odd that a 3-pack was only $9.99 but individual ones were at least $7.99 if not over $10. But the package said they were "Splashers" and appeared to be the exact same thing! Never hurts to have spares either...
  9. Target B&M also has a 3-pack of these (Speedo Splashers) in a variety of colors for $9.99. Actually just got them yesterday for my son who started swim lessons...
  10. wow - I don't think I need another credit card but you are starting to sell me on this one! We got the Disney Visa a while back since we had PLENTY of points each month already on Target and wanted another rewards program for the "overflow." Sad, I know! :)
  11. thanks - I checked and it is for the Visa, not the old, old redcard, but you are probably right about it needing a chip rather than a magnetic strip - I don't think I'll waste too much time trying to install it! (but I am betting DS5 and DS3 would have a blast using it at their pretend store!) :)
  12. I forgot to add one more thing about the Target Visa. Every time you earn your 10% off card for use in-store, they also send you a 10% off code to use online. It used to be easy on the internet to get free 10% off codes for target.com but doesn't seem to be anymore so I am glad to know I always have one I can use for online orders... Speaking of target.com and clearance, of course, I just picked up the black Isaac Mizrahi satchel for 75% off - $7.49 online. I looked and looked but they don't seem to have it in my store, so I had to give in on the shipping.... They are not listed as "online only" so maybe some of you can find it at your store!
  13. now that is REALLY interesting, because not once in over 8 years of frequent Target shopping has a coupon ever come out with my receipt! All I get on receipts are ads saying I can enter a contest if I answer a survey... I also never get coupons/promotions in with my Visa bill - the best coupons I get are either the kind on the glossy books (usually $10) or the kind that come printed on cardstock and stuffed into a 4x6ish cardstock mailer. Like someone else said, I also used to get big sheets of perforated coupons, which then turned into the clipless coupon card, but both of those have stopped recently... Here's another factoid: I own a Target card reader (that you hook to your pc) that they sent me in the mail (unsolicited) a LONG time ago - it was supposed to help you print out coupons at home like you can do in the store, as well as do other credit maintenance, etc. It was so long ago that it might have been only for the Target redcard they had before it became Target Visa - I can't recall. Now that I remembered I still have it, I'm curious to finally open the box and see what it does, if anything! Anyone else have one of these? what I REALLY want is an at-home DPCI checker, lol!!! :)
  14. then again, folks, here I am in the Land Of The $2 Popcorn Combo where townhouses cost half a million dollars, so maybe they just know we NEED those extra coupons in our area to be able to afford to keep shopping, lol!
  15. Maybe I need to explain the $10 coupons a bit more in case you might have missed them. When you have the Target Visa (at least for me!) they send you out these full-color glossy magazine sized ad books about 4-6 times per year, usually advertising their latest line-up of seasonal merchandise or a new style line, etc. (It is a total waste of paper!) Then, usually on the back cover, there is a cleverly placed card that you tear or peel off and it is normally for $10 off a $100 purchase. At Christmas I'm pretty sure it was $25 off of a $200 purchase! Sometimes it will specify $10 off $100 purchase in "housewares" or something like that, but I have tried and every time the $10 off works no matter what section I buy my stuff from, as long as the total of my whole order is $100 or more. Since I'm already buying a lot on these certain days to use my 10% off card, it is never a problem to reach $100, so then I basically get another 10% off on top of my 10%! Just make sure you never throw out any of your glossy book mailers from them without first checking for this peel off/tear off card. Ocassionally a mailer will not have a card on it, but usually they do. I know I am not the only person who gets these as I've seen others using them at checkout. If memory serves me, the majority came in the Fall last year. Of course I have had the Target Visa for a long time, so they have had plenty of time to "profile" me and so maybe some of the coupons get generated from that...??
  16. I'm sure this has been discussed before but here is a just a plug for getting a Target Visa if you have been considering it. I have had mine for about 6 years now and LOVE it! It is extremely easy to rack up enough points to earn the 10% off coupon each month (non-Target purchases count too), and even if you don't, all you have to do is occasionaly put one big purchase on the card to get plenty of points as they just roll over to the next month if unused. Then I take my monthly 10% off card and make a huge list of all the toiletries, food goods, diapers, etc that we need, and do it all on one day. I leave my clearance browsing for other random days when I have the kids and can't shop in such an organized manner. I also use a ton of coupons on my 10% off days which helps even more. It is amazing to see what comes off at the end. Basically, if you get the 10% card every month and maximize your shopping day with it, it's like getting a giant free shopping trip every 10th month. :) They send me all kinds of coupons, including ones for $10 off almost anything several times per year. Also, if you have the card and use it to fill Target pharmacy prescriptions, you get another 10% off card when you reach every 10th Rx. So occasionally I'll have two 10% cards in one month that I can use on different days. It has totally been worth it for us!
  17. Re: the popcorn/drink combo: I was starting to think I was dreaming up our $2 price on this since so many of you report yours is only $1, so I checked again and now there is not one, but 2 signs stating the $2 price. So I asked the girl at the counter if they had once had a $1 combo or was I crazy and she said yes, they did once have it as $1 but now they are "test marketing" it in our area as a $2 combo to see if it sells. Lucky us!!
  18. I didn't get much today (all 3 kids were acting up!!) but I did get what is perhaps my cheapest per item buy ever: 44 pairs of mittens for about $8! If you go to the endcap in accessories, right where they have clearance sunglasses, etc., they had about 40 sets of two pair black "one size fits most" Xhilaration mittens down to 75% off which was $.37. I could not resist so I grabbed 22 sets, which is 44 pairs of gloves. I plan to keep a few sets to use for kids to decorate as hand puppets and the rest I will donate to groups who collect for shelters for the winter.
  19. Thanks.... but I can still use the Disney keys that came with the Disney system on the regular system, and vice versa, correct? Just want to make sure of that before I open both systems. I figured I'd let the kids pick which system they like better (same thing, different colors) and then save the other as a spare in case one breaks. I knew they'd love the Disney characters which is why it seemd to worth it to pay $9 for the Disney set just to use it for the 3 characters...
  20. this is a bit OT, but if anyone is still looking for the Easy Link extra keys to go with their Target clearance system, I just saw the Clifford/Arthur sets for $1 at Walmart (this is mentioned elsewhere on GD). On the other hand, if you were able to get keys but not the system, they also have the full Disney Special Edition Easy link system (includes 3 characters) for $9.00 (Walmart exclusive). I'm still mad I passed up several sets of 75% off characters at Target before I knew that I'd get the system, but at least now I have some variety...
  21. hey - now there is an awesome idea I never thought of - thanks!!!
  22. I just got back from Walmart here in MD and they did not have any of the regular EasyLink systems for $10, but did have the Disney special edition for only $9. I got that even though I already have the regular Easy Link, just for the characters... The only sets of two extra characters they had for $1 was Clifford/Arthur, but I was thrilled to find them. I did note that they also have several of the I Can Play Piano and Guitar cartridges on "clearance," but only marked down to $7...
  23. even better, it can become a cute little "conversation piece." Not everyone can say they have a one-eared rhino. You could even make up a story to go with him about how he got injured in a Target battle over the last clearance item on the shelf, lol!
  24. My DS5 got the guitar for Christmas (unfortunately purchased at full price!) and you can definitely spend quite some time with just what comes with it; in fact my DH doesn't even want DS to try any of the extra cartridges anymore until he learns the basics using the software provided with the guitar because he just keeps getting too frustrated and then gives up. I definitely think he'll appreciate it more in a few years, but he sure does look darn cute with that thing around his neck, and we can tell he is proud of what he can do. Totally worth the $10 for that! :) but to answer your question, yes it does come with its own basic software and yes, you can purchase extra cartridges separately. There are currently about 6 of them on the market, for different age ranges: Barbie, Cars, Nashville Hits, American Idol, Sponge Bob, Rock Star and maybe more... they run about $15 normal price and many of us here got them 75% off in the after Christmas sales at Target!
