Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2009
Gritz replied to Brad's topic in Offline Hot Deals
If there is only one item left and someone hides it, will it ever get marked down to a lower price if that one item never gets scanned? Just wondering because I know several of you hide things to wait until they are 75% off, but what if all the ones on the shelf get bought when they are 50% off. Will your item ever be "marked" as 75% off if it remains in it's hiding place? -

It's the cloth ones (it's like a foldable box) with cardboard dividers for the ornaments. I think it's made by Rubbermaid? Sorry, I don't recall how much they were. There were a lot left at a few of my Target stores. They only caught my eye because I thought it was strange that they weren't clearanced with the rest of the Christmas stuff over a month ago. -

My Target still sells the red ornament boxes on clearance. They are 50% off and were on an endcap near the vaccum cleaners/sewing machine area. -

I can't believe how there are still Christmas toys that aren't 75% off at my store. I've been eyeing this big train set that is clearly a Christmas item. It's still only 30% off and there are Hannah Montana Christmas dolls that are only 30% off too! -

Oh! Maybe that's where all the big boxes of baby clearance went at my Target. There was a big aisle with lots of stuff last week and it was all gone this morning. They re-stocked the shelf with new boxes of baby stuff. I roamed the whole store looking for the aisle where they may have moved the boxes, but couldn't find them anywhere (2 of my Targets put big baby clearance boxes in random aisles sometimes). I figured there is no way that ALL those items were purchased within a week. Maybe my Target did the same thing and "temporarily" moved them to the back to mark them down. -

I think that's just bad customer service. It takes all but one minute (if that) for them to punch in the numbers on their keyboard and tell the customer on the phone what the price is. Helping customers is the definition of "Customer Service"! Grrrr. -

I'm surprised too that the shelves are so "bare" too, with only some of the toys being at 50% and 30% off. With the way the economy is, I would think that more people would hold out, but I guess not. It's even hard for me to find the FP DVD player at 50% off! -

I think it would be a lot of work to do that with electronics! I haven't done that before and don't plan to. I've only done it a handful of times with household items (like a toaster or cheese grater) and I didn't purchase them to "try them out". I purchased them to keep them, but then it turned out they sucked so I wanted money back. -

Can't you buy it and if it's a complete piece of junk, return it? I've purchased items from Target before and found them to suck and took them back for a refund (box opened and all). I know there are certain restictions, like you can't return opened DVDs or video games, etc. -

The trains I got say they are for the "Take Along" Thomas stuff -- they are the Die Cast trains. They don't fit on the wooden tracks. I'm not super familiar with all the Thomas stuff (there are so many different kinds!), but aren't the Trackmaster ones (plastic tracks) for the motorized trains? -

This morning I got.... ### FP Tough Kid DVD player bag - 75% off ($5.xx) I don't think it was a mark down from this week, since all the other stuff was still at the same price as last week. Sadly (for me!), the FP DVD player is still only 30% off at this store. -

The big baby clearance is usually the last week in January. I've been watching the discounts these past couple of weeks and it seems pretty slow this year. Last year I was able to get several things for 75% off (full size FP Papasan swing, bouncers, Britax Onyx stroller, etc)during the last week, but it seems like most of the stuff if still only at 30% off. That's how it is at my stores, at least. The only things I've consistently seen at 50%-75% off is the Sit n Stand Lx stroller, crib sheets, lap pads, clothing items, and misc nursery stuff. Big ticket items like the Medela breastpump, highchairs, carseats are still only 15%-30% off. -

It was your post that helped me realize how many Thomas trains were on clearance. I only scanned the metal trains and a few of the boxed items. I know none of the wooden trains were on clearance so I didn't scan those. Thanks again for initially posting the Thomas stuff! You helped me get a bunch of stuff for my 2 yr old that is obsessed with Thomas!! :) -

I only found 2 of the Thomas items I bought in the clearance toy aisle with a red clearance sticker. All the other items I found were placed with the regular-priced Thomas stuff. Someone else posted a list of Thomas items that were on clearance, so I just took that list and looked in the regular-priced Thomas aisle to see if I could find any of the items. I found some of them and then started wondering if there were others in the same area that didn't have clearance stickers either....sure enough there were!! I just took the items to a scanner to see what the prices were and I found some good deals. -

For those interested in Thomas the Train toys, here's what I found on clearance. Most of them were with the regular priced Thomas toys and they didn't have a red clearance sticker on them. One of my Targets had this on clearance, but none of the other ones did. Very odd! ### 204-03-2959 Yo Gabba Gabba! Most of my stores have the Sit n Stand LX for 50% off ($64.98). If you're willing to pay that amount, you should call your stores to see how much they are selling for. -

Not sure if it's the same Burts Bee product, but someone else posted that there was a 3pack on clearance. Here's the DPCI, in case it's the same one and people want to check their stores: 037.05.1335 My stores generally have the BBs stuff in the make-up section. When they go on clearance, they don't move them to an endcap. They leave them there with the regular priced stuff. -

Is it the Step 2 Puppet theatre and the Step 2 Scribble Center? If so, here are the DPCIs. You can punch them into the scanner at the store so you don't have to lug the boxes. Step 2 Puppet Theatre: 204.09.0136 Step 2 Scribble Center: 204.09.0219 Oh, if you're not at the Target store and want to know how much they are, you can call and ask for Guest Services. Tell them the DPCI numbers and ask them what the current price is. At 75% off, the Puppet theatre should be $17.48 and the Scribble Center should be $7.48. -

That could be because the employees found a toy misplaced or someone returned a toy that was on clearance. At any rate, that could be a very good thing for you if it's something you want! :) I just returned 17 toys today at my local Target (that's not even half the amount of toys I've purchased this past week!). All were 75% off when I bought them, so maybe it will make someone very happy once they go back on the shelves! Sometimes I can't decide whether or not I want a toy when I see it, so I buy it, go home and think about it and either keep it or return it. There have been too many times in the past where I've seen something on clearance, passed it up, then went home and decided I wanted it. Of course, when I went back to get it, it would be gone. I learned my lesson about doing that!!!
