Good news! I was in Big Lots today and saw a Princess and the Pauper Erica dress-up set on the clearance table. It was the last one!!! It has the shoes, headband plus a necklace and earrings. WooHoo!!!

Our church is participating in Operation Christmas Child. You buy small items to fill a shoe box and it is shipped overseas to children in third world countries. I remember when I was younger my mom did the angel tree. Somehow she found out where the child lived, how many brothers/sisters he had. She bought clothes and gifts for all the kids as well as groceries for the parents. She dropped it all off at their doorstep anonymously. I'll never forget that.

I would just talk to him and let him know how much he will be missed. Remind him that since the holidays will be the last time you get see him for awhile how important it is for it to be a happy time.

I would mainly want electronics, and I know Best Buy or Circuit City has better selection, but they are so spread out I would probably run out of time before I got everthing I wanted. Therefore, I would go to WalMart and get at least a 32" HDTV, portable dual screen dvd player, digital camera, digital camcorder, GameCube and games, XBox 360 and games, PC. I hope I don't have to wait on an employee to unlock the cases or I will end up with an empty cart!

The only problem I might foresee is if you split up and one person got all/most of the deals on their list and the other person didn't really get any. Might be some hard feelings...

That is so nice of you, susiejwp! Unfortunately, I am computer illiterate and digitally dumb, so I can't post a picture. One of the girls shoes are light blue and the other's are pink, so I might be able to find some generic dress shoes along those lines. My daughter is just used to having the Disney princess shoes that have the princesses pictures on them, so that's probably what she would expect. As far as Erica's headband, it is pink and light blue flowers so I think I might buy some silk flowers and hot glue them on a plain headband.

I usually bid at the last minute. I don't see anything wrong with it, because if you go to a live auction it goes to the last person that bids.

kas3, thanks for the input! I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to technology, so I wouldn't have known about the USB port.

I haven't received mine yet. I'm sure the kids will still have fun looking through it, though.

Is anyone familiar with the HP Photosmart digital camera that is being offered at WM? That seems like such a low price for a 5 MP digital camera. I really don't know anything about digital cameras and am wanting to get one this year, so any advice will be appreciated.

One year I got one of those red berry wreaths that I already had and placed it in the center of the table. Put several pillar candles of different heights in the middle and laid pinecones, evergreen sprigs around it and small votive candles around.

Our Sears is just the one with appliances, etc. no clothing. I talked to the manager, and she said that the stores that aren't the full retail do their F&F on Monday the 14th instead of the 13th and it's all day instead of from 6-9. She said I could still use the coupon that says the 13th, though. You all just might want to check to make sure that there aren't any differences for your area.

I think it also depends on where you live if they price match or not. I'm not near a Target so our Wal-Mart won't price match since they know they are really not a competitor.

I checked on ebay and didn't have any luck. We are planning on getting her several Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus items, so she'll probably forget all about the other when she gets that!

She has the dress-up dresses for Princess Anneliese and Erica from Barbie Princess & the Pauper. She said she wants Erica's headband and the shoes for both of them. I'm not sure they ever made them, but even if they did you wouldn't be able to get them now because you can't even find the dresses. I guess I could always check ebay...

Yesterday DD told me she wanted something that I don't believe exists. I told her that you can't find that anywhere to which she replied, "Santa can make it!" I said he makes wooden toys, etc. but everything else he gets at the store. How would you have responded or have you had this happen before?

I'm going to speak from experience. I never participated in BF because I didn't think the deals would be worth the crowds, etc. I never even looked at the ads to know what the deals were! A friend of mine just told me about GD last month, and at first I rolled my eyes. When she started showing me the WM ads, I was hooked!

I saw the snowglobe at WM today. So cute!!!

My grandparents are the hardest to buy for--never know what to get. My sisters and I draw names so whomever I get is the easiest because we provide each other with shopping lists.

We've moved farther away from family this year, so rather than spending a day with family we will be spending a couple days with my family then a couple of days with the in-laws. As far as traditions, I have several Christmas-themed books. I wrap each one and place in a basket. Each night leading up to Christmas the kids get to pick a book and unwrap it then I read it to them.
