  1. IMHO, Lexar is on par with Sandisk, Verbatim, and PNY. Simpletech is a step between the "no-names" and the Lexar, Sandisk, Verbatim and PNY cards. But, that's just my personal opinion, and I really have no real reason as to "why". http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Hmmm/Idea2.gif
  2. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Computers/prof15.gif All you had to do is ask!!!: www.cnet.com, specifically here: http://reviews.cnet.com/Notebooks/2001-3121_7-0.html http://www.notebookreview.com http://www.pcmag.com/category2/0,1874,9,00.asp http://www.notebookforums.com http://www.laptopical.com/laptop-reviews.html Or search on Google: http://www.google.com/search?q=laptop+reviews
  3. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Threads/goodpost.gifWelcome to GottaDeal! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Hello-Bye/chestram.gif
  4. You could always find some seller on Ebay who seems to have a lot of them up for auction and make them an offer/proposal...
  5. Go here for all the 2006 BF posts: http://forums.gottadeal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=34 In fact, you can read everything from '04, '05, and '06 in the "Deal Discussion" section.
  6. Newegg has some good prices. They offer volume discounts on some of the cables too. For instance, I could buy 25 rounded 18" Floppy Drive Cables for $52.44 incl. 3-day shipping. Go here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?DEPA=0&type=&Description=floppy+cable&Submit=ENE&N=0&Ntk=all&Go.x=0&Go.y=0 Don't be afraid of the shipping charges (some will list shipping @ $4.99 each) because they discount shipping for multiple item purchases. I doubt you'll find a pack of 25 available for purchase as one "item" in your cart... The only places buying in that quantity are generally system-builders and since the Floppy has pretty much reached the end of it's life cycle, it's not something that a supplier gets much call for.
  7. You should know that the "A" line of Toshiba laptops aren't made by "Toshiba" at all... they are rebadged versions of other manufacturers laptops. I have a Toshiba A75-S209, it's two years old. It was part of a Class Action Lawsuit that included about 5 Toshiba models and their issues with overheating. The basic issue it that the cooling fans on the bottom of the laptop suck air up (rather than blow it out as most laptops do). The fans do not cool the laptop adequately and fill up with dust easily. The A75 line also is commonly affected with an electrical short that causes you to lose audio (my laptop is affected by this). To fix the audio is a long and drawn-out process of deleting and reinstalling the audio drivers or you need to replace the motherboard altogether. The A75 line also is known for having the power connector problem where the power connection breaks off of the motherboard and you can't use the AC cord to run the computer... I must say that they may have cleared up the three issues I outlined above, but personally would steer clear of a Toshiba, unless the deal was ridiculously good and it would be used as a "backup" computer.
  8. I'm not 19, but I wear either C/K One or Tommy.

  10. Amazon had some marked down for BF. I'm sure they still offer them for sale.
  11. I can't find one... But at least Newegg's prices are quite reasonable. :)
  12. About 5-10 minutes a day... http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Banners/werd.gif
  13. Not a whole lot of suggestions for next year Brad... I think that in itself is comments on how well the sub-forums worked this year. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Drink/thcheers2.gif
  14. I stay as far away from BB on BF as possible. My first stop was OfficeMax on BF. We got there 5 minutes before they opened, we were 10th and 11th in line, and were walking out the door at 5:10 am with everything on my list. But to each their own. Great pics, Jim. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Drink/Beer-Chug.gif With your description, it sounds like people tailgaiting for a Jimmy Buffet concert.
  15. LOL to your "boot up" joke! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/LOL/laugh21.gif If you get the "R" or "T" series, you get that "IBM" stamp on the palmrest and brilliant red trackpad buttons will definitely stand out when you use it at your local coffee shop. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Drink/lovecoffee.gif There's something "old-school-cool" about using an IBM (one of the oldest computer manufacturers out there). BTW, the Lenovo "3000 series" are simply labeled as Lenovo.

  17. I think there should be an official "What time do you get in line/When should I get in line" thread for each of the Big Box Stores, or at least for Circuit City and Best Buy. I know as a BF Mod, I had to collapse or close countless threads about "When should I get in line". If there was an official thread, right from the get-go, it might help people know that that's where they should be posting... Also, it would be slick if the shopping lists had a quantity column (with a default of "1", of course). Also, if the shopping list could provide a subtotal per store and overall of items selected that would be very cool (maybe even pre- and after-rebate). I know, I know, I'm asking a lot.... http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Non-Smiling/run.gif A lot of people seemed interested in the topic of Shopping Buddies (http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=48982), but in my mind, there has to be a better way to organize the seekers rather than make people sift through all the postings (nationwide). I know that a number of "dating software" scripts are out there (many scripts are free). Maybe one could be adapted for this purpose. People could list their GD username, where they are planning on shopping for BF, and whether they are interested in "a friend to hang out with inline" vs. "someone to shop at other stores for them and then exchange later". The software would be able to bring up the local GDers that meet the criteria. I completely agree with Brad... impatient people would start posting the same question in each regional-forum. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Sad%20Upset/scream.gif Not to mention that you'd have good, legitimate, informative posts "lost" in a region that you don't frequent. For instance, let's say there was sections for Northwest Wal-Marts, Southwest Wal-Marts, Midwest Wal-Marts, Southeast Wal-Marts, Northeast Wal-Marts, New England Wal-Marts and Canadian Wal-Marts. Most of the news is national, not regional... If you were interested in shopping at Wal-Mart for BF, you'd have to frequent ALL of the forums, because you'd never know what tidbits you might miss.
  18. Yes! I do all the time... When you watch a 16:9 DVD on a widescreen laptop, you don't get black bars... Try searching for XGA. XGA is the "non-widescreen" version you are looking for. You want to stay away from screen descriptions like WXGA, WSXGA, WUXGA, etc. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XGA The Lenovo Thinkpad "R" series would work for you. http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/catalog.workflow:category.details?current-catalog-id=12F0696583E04D86B9B79B0FEC01C087&current-category-id=52A252555D554F338EB4B3178B3B6554 Or, the Lenovo 3000C would work: http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/catalog.workflow:category.details?current-catalog-id=12F0696583E04D86B9B79B0FEC01C087&current-category-id=BEEC8C6BD4B648BFA0A074AEC15C3E7C A few of the "R" series are $75 off through 12-11 and have 512MB RAM upgrade. They are also offering free shipping.
  19. ~~ Big ol' square screens ~~ IBM -- http://www.lenovo.com/us/en/
  20. Our Staples had tickets for tons of things, including the 1GB Flash Drives. It was a little time consuming because you took the tickets to the register, then the cashier had to run over to the Cust. Service Desk to get your ticketed item(s).
  21. In order: Officemax - 1 minute Staples - 45 minutes Michael's - 3 minutes VF Factory Outlet - 5 minutes CVS - 3 minutes
  22. If you are still looking for CD+RW deals, Officemax has 50-packs of 12x Magnavox CD+RWs for $19.99. It's on page 3 of the circular. Good through 12/2/06.
  23. Nothing, we got every single item I went after. Officemax, Staples, Michael's, VF Factory Outlet, and CVS. Complete success.
  24. That's the best price I've found... They're offering free shipping through December.
  25. I'm in the same boat. Plus the $1.99 USB goodies and the 64-Disc CD holder are in-store only. The Averatec Laptop is too, but I'm not after that... Oh well, I may just have to go to the store on Friday after all.
