  1. Well now I'm feeling sorry for you guys! In our town of 285,000, we have 4 Targets and 12 Walmarts, and every little town around here has at least another walmart. Our Walmart should be having some great sales next week because the shelves are full. Doesn't look like they've sold a thing. Target, on the other hand, has sold so much that the only thing they are discounting is trees...half price. I saw a few things at 30% off yesterday, but that's it. Kohls is another great store here, and we have 2 of those. Target and Kohls are cleaner, quieter, better organized, and your money goes much further there even before clearance. The only items they lack are electronics, and IMO the best deals there are online...from sales posted here! Just my 2 cents worth...
  2. Target has one in their ad this week. Shark Intelli-sew. It's $269. A few years ago, when Target first got those in, they ran them at $179 and I'm still kicking myself that I didn't buy one.
  3. This year, my family will be getting much nicer gifts because the money went much further! I can't believe some of the great deals I found here! Not only that, I'm healthier because I avoided the crowds in the stores. I baked the UPS guys cookies because they have been here nearly every day--the dogs have even stopped barking at them. Because of you all, I found stores online that I had never heard of, and I got some desperately needed advice on what to look for in a new computer. I avoided a few bad deals by reading the forums, so that saved me money too! I love all the product discussion--big city or small town, you just can't get the honest reviews like you get here. :2wiggle:
  4. Does anyone know what Comp USA is putting on sale Dec. 22--Friday morning at 6 am? All the web site says is "you're too early!" I want to know if it's worth setting the alarm and getting there early. In particular, I'm looking for a laptop...still. Can anyone scan an ad or flier and post it? Thanks
  5. I placed 2 orders on Buy.com using google checkout. I was supposed to get free shipping, but google ended up charging me shipping. I followed the buy.com instructions and emailed their customer service and also asked for a price match with Amazon. Followed all the instructions to the letter. The first email got bounced back. I sent again, got a reply saying they were looking into it, would answer in 1-2 days. That was over a week ago. I'm out $14.50 from shipping charges and price difference while waiting, and I don't know who to avoid--google checkouts or Buy.com? I did decide not to buy more from either in the meantime. Anyone else with this experience?
  6. Woot.com has the Roomba sage for $139 today. It sure looks like a good deal...someone enable me...get me to spend my $$$$ Just what I need. Another web site with deals with time pressure! crawling back in my woomba...
  7. Yeah I'm laughing too but I still can't figure out what a woot off is? And I'm for sure not going to ask my 16 year old...
  8. <<<blush>>> Roomba!!! Oh, I need another cup of coffee to get my brain working this morning.
  9. ok, what's a woot off? I'm looking for a deal on the woomba...saw one at Target for $199, is that good? Are there several models?
  10. Thanks again! I just checked ebay, and batteries run about $80 there. If I end up needing a 2nd battery later, I'll do that, but for now, I'll do the upgrade from 6 to 9 instead of buying a 2nd.
  11. Ok, thanks! I'm halfway through the order and I'm wondering if I need to get the 9 cell battery instead of the 6...it's an additional $43. I will be using this outdoors mainly. What say you?
  12. Where did you find this? I can't figure out how to see this on the Dell site. Help! This is the computer I want to buy! Thanks so much for posting, but just give me this last little bit of info, please! cindi
  13. I may just go ahead and get the Dell, end this search headache. Their prices are far better than the deals I'm seeing at the box stores. Dell has laptops with the features Rossman mentioned in the 700+ range. I don't even have to mess with rebates with them. I know there are sites somewhere that evaluate all the models--I just have not found them yet. I can speak expertly about where to buy plants, tools and trees, what to look for, who to avoid, but computers---I'm afraid I'll buy something that's obsolete next month! Or the price will drop $$$$ in a week. THanks for the advice.
  14. Wow, Marcster, thanks for pointing this out! I borrowed a Toshiba from a friend and I noticed the bottom of it warmed up very quickly. Since I don't have much experience with laptops, I thought they all had this problem. Circuit City has some HPs on sale and I think they work with Cingular, so I'm going to research that...appreciate any advice on those too. The IT people around here really discourage Dells, and Dell had the lowest prices I could find. Anyone else with ideas?
  15. I thought I had the perfect deal with the Toshiba A105-S4284, and Circuit City was throwing in a printer too, which I need. Of course it sold out, twice. What I need is a lightweight laptop that can handle lots of photos, lots of internet browsing and possibly work with my cingular phone because we are moving to a place that does not have cable or dial-up internet. The salespeople convinced me I need the duo-core, and blue tooth would be nice. Would like to stay under $1000. Will need a good battery. If someone could find me a deal and list the upgrades I would need, I would be super grateful!
