  1. We do this too! Plus my daugher leaves either cookies or cupcakes that we make and milk for santa. She also leaves Santa a picture of him that she colored. A couple of years ago she started leaving him a thank you note! It is so sweet because she did it all on her own.
  2. We used to have someone here that went all out with the lights. (not in my neighboorhood though) It was called "Christmas Island" and it was huge. It was really nice because they had a hayride around the place and a Santa on the weekends. Sadly, they quit doing it a couple of years ago. No one really goes all out in my town anymore. But we are so close to Callaway Gardens and they do a huge light display every year and we go there to see all the light we ever want!
  3. Thankfully I do not have to cook by myself... That would be a total disaster. lol Instead my mother does the majority of the cooking and my sister and I help. Here is out menu (everything homemade) : Smoked Turkey (25-30 lbs) Smoked Ham (10-15 lbs) Mashed Potatoes (normally 10lbs) Gravy Mac & Cheese Squash Casserole Rolls Butter Beans Collards or Turnips Dressing Lemon Pie Choc. Pie Pecan Pie At least one Van. cake At least one Choc. Cake Sweet Potato Pie We have at least 8 and maybe 10 people over for dinner; however, as you can see the only way my mom knows how to cook is for an army!
  4. From everything I have heard, this is the doll this year. I was born in the late 70s, so I don't remember this doll. So right now I am torn was to whether or not to get my daughter one. She has not seen the commerical or asked for one, so ww shall see closer to Christmas.
  5. Kmart and I have been on the outs for the last two years... Therefore, I find myseld both happy that we have the first few ads coming out and disappointed that it is not somthing better than Kmart.

    Annual Bears

I bought a couple for my daughter, thinking she would like them, but they never get played with so I stopped buying them. I never played with the ones I got as a child either.
  7. I could not imagine not being able to bring cupcakes to school that I make myself. I save so much money doing them myself, plus I let me daughter help and she loves taking them in! :) As for holidays, I have done a lot of different things. One year for Christmas we went to the Dollar Store and bought everyone in class a little toy. One year, we made goody bags with pencils, candy, etc. One year, we gave out holiday cups with candy inside of it. I also always let her give out Christmas cards. The way I see it... any little thing makes the kids day. It always amazes me at how grateful they are over the smallest thing. As far as her classroom party goes, we make cupcakes, cookies, or a cake. For example, for Halloween we are making "mud cups" which is nothing more than pudding with crushed oreos and gummy worms. lol I love this idea! Very original!
  8. I think we are going to have the same problem this year. We have a new shopping center that includes Sears, Kohl's, Toys R Us, and Circuit City. I can just see the traffic now! But you know what I do love? I love driving to BF, because the roads are so empty and it is so peacful. Then you pull into the shopping center and WOW it is so full of life! Anyways, our Kohl's is new, and while they have had some great opening sales, there regular prices are expensive so I hope they have some good BF deals.
  9. LOL! This is exactly how I feel! Normally the rain makes me feel so sleepy and overall Blah... but on BF, there is nothing that can bring me down.
  10. I was at Old Navy last week at hit this sale. I got my daughter blue jeans shorts for next year for only 97 cents each. It was awesome! Esp. since they are regularly 14-17 dollars. :)
  11. Oh my... I used to always get these from an aunt. Thank goodness she doesn't give them anymore. I think it is funny, because when you go shopping after Christmas for the sales, you see stacks and stacks of these. lol

    Coupon?

Yeah I remember I used the coupons last year and got the great deal on the Video Now ($14.99). I hope they do the 12 days thing again!
  13. I also can't wait for the book. I always sit down with my daughter and she circles everything she wants. This is also the time she starts working on getting her letter to Santa ready. :)
  14. I guess I am in the minority here, because I loved when TRU was with Amazon and don't like it at all now that it is on its own. That being said, I hope that they still have the BF items on the website for me to order. Last year, I ordered the BF items on Thanksgiving and it saved me alot of time the morning of BF; not to mention tackling the crowded store.
  15. Yep... Target and Toys R Us had them last year.

    Layaway?

I would love if my Target had lay-a-way...
  17. Hmmm... While I am glad to have a new ad out, I am not impressed with Kmart lately. I often pass it on BF because the Kmarts in my town never seem to have what they advertise. They only get in a very small number of items, and everytime I go they are out of them. That being said... My daughter does want the Furreal Friend, but she wants a Panda. I wonder which ones they will have? I can always send my husband... lol I just don't want to deal with Kmart anymore.
  18. Oh yeah... Three years ago it was raining and I stood in the rain with my sis and mom in front of Toys R Us. The icing on the cake? I was sick and throwing up. lol It was still very much worth it! :)
  19. We leave the house at 4am to get in line for the stores opening at 5am (lines are not too bad where I live). We are normally home by noon!
  20. Thanks AmyJ0_99... 89 is better than 99!
  21. Ah... no Amazing Amanda... but hey... no matter, I am sure that I will be able to find something, more than likely prob. more than one... :)
  22. Oh yea! Target, been waiting for this ad... Last year I racked up there... I am hoping they have the Amazing Amanda doll on sale, my daughter wants it but it is 99.99!!!!!!
  23. For BF it is a must to layer lots of clothes. That way when I am standing outside waiting for a store to open, I will be warm. Plus, once you get going you can take some off. Comfortable tennis shoes are also a must for weaving in and out of store traffic.
  24. Yep, tree is in the living room. I also love to turn the lights off at night and just sit and watch the tree...
