facebook.com/gottadeal bigjimslade from the forums here has been our unofficial facebook "host" the past year
-
Some great things planned this year as well. We had the extremely popular t-shirts last year. This year among other things we'll be giving away special "BF survival kits" loaded with GD swag. It's going to be a fun year
-
I think we might just keep it open year round from now on, lol. BTW, we're not really going to advertise the fact that this forum is open, so it's kind of an exclusive preview for those of you who stick around all year. We'll send out the big "we're open!" mass e-mail to the BF mailing list in a couple months.
-
As we've hinted to recently, we're going to open the main Black Friday discussion forum a little early this year for several reasons: - to gather some poll results to use for media interviews & our early BF predictions :) - to allow the search engines to start indexing the forum in advance of the BF craziness - because some of you have nothing better to do and want to start talking BF now! We are now 20 weeks away from Black Friday (November 27th this year). The full suite of Black Friday forums (the retailer-specific forums, the Black Friday FAQs and the Holiday discussion forum) will return in a couple months, but for now, keep all Black Friday discussion in this forum. We aren't expecting much discussion right away, so don't be surprised if we go days without any posts in here. To those of you helpful BF forum mods from last year - you can take the summer off - we won't bother you for a few more months Thanks

Is there a way to only see todays posts in a forum
Brad replied to DramaQueenLucy's topic in Discuss GottaDEAL
There is no easy way to do that for one forum. The "Today's Posts" link works like the "New Posts" link in that you can include/exclude certain forums from showing up in those results through your control panel (at the bottom of this page) but you'd have to then change that setting for each different forum you wanted to view. But theoretically, if you excluded all but the Online Deals forum, only that forum's threads would show up when you clicked on either of those 2 links. -
It will probably be soon. For now it's only going to be the "main" BF discussion forum - the store-specific ones will open in a few months. I'm not opening it early because there will be a lot of discussion, but more because I want to give the search engines time to index some of the initial threads before the craziness really starts. I also want to post some polls about some key topics to get some data I can use for all the press interviews this year and for our set of BF predictions.
-
I'll prove it... Based on what is in the ads, I predict that when they are posted, you'll see these comments: "is it just me or are the ads not as good this year?" "well that's one store i don't have to bother with this year" "the ads suck this year - where are the deals?" "that's it! i'm not bothering to go out on BF this year!" So when those get posted, it will prove that I have the actual ads
-
OK, I lied. I only have 3 ads
-
yeah, but i already have the first 4 BF ads, so i'm ahead of the game. just waiting a few months to post them
-
LOL And the BF forums will be opening this month too

Brad posted a topic in Online Hot Deals
GottaDeal.com Summer Gift Card Giveaway! POST DEALS & WIN GREAT PRIZES! Introducing the GottaDeal.com Summer Gift Card Giveaway! We're giving away hundreds of dollars in gift cards and all you have to do to be eligible to win is to post deals here on the forum - it's that easy! Over the next couple of months, we are going to award giveaway entries to forum members who post qualifying* deals in the Online Hot Deals forum. You can earn a maximum of 5 entries per day - one for each qualifying* deal you post. See below for details about what makes a qualifying deal. At the end of the contest period, we will randomly select six (6) winners from all the entries earned during the duration of the contest period. Each winner will receive a $50 gift card to the partner retailer of your choice! These are the same retailers that earn you entries when you post deals from them. OFFICIAL RULES Promotion period begins on May 4, 2009 at 12:00am Eastern Time and ends on July 19, 2009 at 11:59pm Eastern Time. All registered GottaDeal.com forum members are eligible to participate in this promotion, including temporary and permanent moderators. Members found to have created multiple forum accounts for the purposes of accumulating additional entries will be disqualified. You will receive one drawing entry for each qualifying* deal thread posted in the Online Hot Deals forum during the contest period. List of partner stores may change during the contest. Deals will count if the store is on the list when the deal is posted.Only your first five qualifying* deal threads will earn you entries each day. Each daily period starts at 12:00am and ends at 11:59pm Eastern Time. Prize winners will be randomly selected no later than July 21, 2009 from all entries earned during the promotion period. Limit one prize per forum member. Once someone has been chosen as a winner, their remaining entries will be removed from the drawing.Winners will be contacted via private message and/or e-mail to claim their prize. If a prize is not claimed within 14 days, it will be forfeited. QUALIFYING DEALS In order for a deal thread to qualify for an entry for this promotion, it must satisfy ALL of the following criteria: 1. The thread's title must include the name of the retailer the deal is for. 2. The post must contain a link, even if it's just a link to the retailer's home page. 3. The deal must be from one of our partner retailers (see complete list below). 4. The deal must must be unique and not be a repost of a recently posted deal. We reserve the right to disqualify any deal for any reason. Besides these mandatory criteria, we also ask that you be as descriptive as possible in your thread title. Where possible, include an image in your post. If there is a specific method to get the deal, provide step-by-step instructions. If a coupon code is needed, be sure to include the code in your post. Please do not directly copy and paste deals from other sites - you may "borrow" the deal, but type the title and post in your own words. Directly copied posts may be disqualified. HELPFUL HINTS Please search before posting a deal. Re-posted deals will be deleted.Make sure your deal is a legit deal and not just "filler" to earn an entry.Check the list of partner retailers - some "big" stores are not eligible.List of qualifying retailers may change at any time - keep checking back. Please take the time to read this entire post - it will save you time.Combine deals if possible. Similar deals from same store may be merged.Avoid using ALL CAPS in your posts and include the $ when posting prices. *** CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE QUALIFYING PARTNER RETAILERS *** -
It's a very good deal for the price. The smaller 14.1" screen is nice as most of the $400 laptops are the larger, heavier 15.4" models. The fact that you also get Vista Premium instead of the Basic version is also a nice plus. If you only want to spend $400 on a laptop, you won't get much better than this anytime soon.

Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2011
Brad replied to Brad's topic in Offline Hot Deals
This quarter's thread continues the PerimeterPerusing.com summary feature. Each quarter, PerimeterPerusing.com will contain a summary of clearance finds for the current quarter. It will only include items posted using the proper format, so please read below to find out how to make sure your clearance finds are included. The list for the current quarter will be updated periodically (usually hourly) by an automated script. The script will go through the thread looking for lines which are labeled as being clearance finds and add them to the summary. Again, when you want to add an item to the summary, include it in your post and prefix the line by adding three consecutive # symbols. Your post can also contain non-item lines, just don't use the three # symbols for those lines. The more information you have about each item, the better. Just keep each item on it's own single line so you don't confuse the script. Here is a sample of what a post might look like: If you don't have any items listed, your post will be skipped over by the script. One more time, please keep all discussion in this thread related to Target Clearance deals only. Discussion about weekly ad items or store policy belong in other threads. -
