KoopawnKode Posted May 7, 2009 Author Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) Its $239 now!wait a minute... They moved the link to another deal...aha! You need to be careful with all these because they look VERY similar to one another. The $239 is a white/black one with 120gb HDD and 3-Cell battery. If you want to use it w/o having to plug it in (and longer than 30 min-1hour)...you'll want the 6 Cell battery! I've updated the link above Edited May 7, 2009 by KoopawnKode
PennyCarter Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Just wanted to say that I love this computer and it is a GREAT deal (if its what you need of course). I bought this for about $100 more a few months back. I'm using it right now. It does everything I need! I was in a crunch and really didn't want to buy an expensive laptop and size is important to me, I like ti small. I already had a 11" so it wasn't hard to adjust down. But I am a small lady. My large fiance' has a hard time typing, on it, but he makes it work. For web design and photo editing, it can get frustrating that it is such a small monitor. But I have adjusted or if I have a lot to do I use my fiance's desk top. Anyway, I was worried that I would waste my money on this, but I love it! Just wanted anyone else to know. The reviews on amazon had sold me, so check them out. If you're worried about the typing, you may stop by an Office Depot or Staples and check it out or another netbook. HTH!:)
nick_jenni_jocelyn Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I am wanting to purchase something like this for my neice and nephew for christmas. This will be their only gift from us this xmas as it is a pain to send things to them(they line in Alaska). Would this be ok for them to listen to music, download it, do basic homework papers(the dont have much) and play on kid websites?
KoopawnKode Posted May 7, 2009 Author Posted May 7, 2009 I am wanting to purchase something like this for my neice and nephew for christmas. This will be their only gift from us this xmas as it is a pain to send things to them(they line in Alaska). Would this be ok for them to listen to music, download it, do basic homework papers(the dont have much) and play on kid websites?Basic stuff...including listening to music, this can handle without an issue. If they're going to use this as a main computer (which is entirely possible) I would add a keyboard and external monitor for times when they'll view it for long periods of time (such as when creating HW papers). Then when they want to take it on the go, they just disconnect and go. Some might say that defeats the purpose of having a laptop/netbook but different people have different needs and this happens to be one solution to one of my needs. (Nice to see my 14.1" laptop on my 22" monitor at home then pick up and go)
PennyCarter Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I agree that this would suit their needs. You may suggest that someone else buy them an external hard drive. I use mine to store all my pictures and music. Its great in case something goes wrong (and I've killed a few computers) and to just keep this hard drive clean. When it is plugged into the usb port, it works as if its on the computer. Oh btw, this does not have a cd/dvd drive. External ones are available. I haven't had a need for one, but just an fyi.
neile457 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I don't agree with the external HD idea. I have a 120gb hd on mine, and I do work related stuff (MS Office), and have a ton of pics and songs on it, and I still have over 80 gb of HD space available. The only knock I have against it is the speakers, they suck for listening to music. I have an external bar speaker on my desk that I connect to listen to music. But other than that, I do everything my other laptops on it. It will work fine. The only one's I would avoid are the ones with the SSD, as those hard drives are way too small. Good luck!
nick_jenni_jocelyn Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 ok i have a dumb question. I know nothing about computers/electronics, i leave that up to DH. Anyways, in the "frequently bought together" section a little bit down on teh page, it has a Flash memory card. What would that be used for on this computer? I know its a dumb question and I do have one of them cards, but its on my camera and i just use it for pics. Thanks!
neile457 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 you could use the card for a camera, camcorder, mp3, or phone (if they can use that size card), or even a computer if it has a card reader to transfer / hold data. For example, my digital camera uses a sd card, so I can take it out of the camera, and put it into the card reader on the acer, and transfer the pics to my netbook - no need to connect the camera. But, don't waste your time buying another card if all your gadgets have a card already, unless you want to buy a larger card.
