Scanner420 Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Hey one and all! Scanner here with a little 'Pick Em' game fer ya! I have 16 Christmas Movies listed here. (thanks Wiki) The pairings were done randomly. All you have to do is pick your faves of the bunch with a reason if you like! I'll stop each round after fifteen-to-twenty responses (I'll stop at an odd number to avoid a tie) and the highest total makes it to the next round! I figured we could get the best of the best by Christmas Day. Let's get this started! Round 1 Christmas Vacation vs Miracle on 34th Street. (pick your favorite version) Home Alone vs A Christmas Carol (pick your favorite version w/ the exception of Scrooged) A Christmas Storyvs Elf Nightmare Before ChristmasvsThe Grinch Bad SantavsThe Santa Clause The Polar ExpressvsScrooged Deck the Hallsvs It's a Wonderful Life Jingle All the Wayvs White Christmas BTW- If your fave isn't listed...sorry! I tried avoiding sequels and dupes. (w/ the exception of Scrooged cause it's an awesome version by itself.) If ya'd like to add one you'd like to see on the list for next year put it with the responses and I'll try to stretch it to 32 if I can get enough movies listed. kthnxby
mgmckny Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Round 1 Christmas Vacation--makes my house look good! HOme Alone--Makes me feel like a good mom! A Christmas Story-- the soap scene The Grinch--needs no explanation The Santa Clause=Tim Allen at his best Scrooged-- OMG still have to be careful not to eat or drink during some scenes Deck the Halls-- I know those neighbors Jingle all the Way--ARNOLD You need to add Unaccompanied Minors, it's another good one, fairly new so it might not be as well known. And personally I watch Gremlins as a Christmas movie.
shopping mom Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Miracle on 34th Street the older version Home Alone A Christmas Story The Grinch The Santa Clause Scrooged It's a Wonderful Life White Christmas

MathGirl Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Christmas Vacation vs Miracle on 34th Street. Original with Maureen O'hara. My Mom and I always watch this on Thanksgiving. It was hard to decide because I really enjoy Christmas Vacation Home Alone vs A Christmas Carol With George C. Scott A Christmas Story vs ElfI like them both, but I Love when Ralphie looks out the window on Christmas morning and everything is blanketed in snow! Thats what a White Christmas should look like."Not a Finger!" Nightmare Before ChristmasvsThe GrinchI've never seen Nightmare Before Christmas. I really like the Grinchs doggie! Bad SantavsThe Santa ClauseI Love the Santa Clause it is soo cute and fun. The North Pole is great and I like how Scott and Charlies relationship evolves. "Seeing isn't believing. Believing is seeing." The Polar ExpressvsScroogedOnce again I like them both, but Scrooged is a Christmas movie that my Dad will even watch and it cracks us all up. Deck the Hallsvs It's a Wonderful LifeI like It's a Wonderful Life and even my husband does. It just makes me sad at a few parts. Jingle All the Wayvs White ChristmasOne of MY FAVORITES!!!
mychza Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Round 1 Christmas Vacation - this is so bad, but I've never actually seen miracle on 34th street, but I know the story Home Alone - I was deciding between this and the muppets or mickey christmas carol :) it was close A Christmas Story- Elf is nice, but this one is hilarious and according to my husband (and TBS)...a new classic we must watch every year The Grinch- I like the nightmare before chrsitmas more for halloween The Santa Clause- I like the family story; I try to save bad santa for when you're burnt out on christmas or mad cause you just saw xmas decorations right after labor day :) it's so cynical. Scrooged- My kids like polar express, but I think it's just ok. Scrooged is the best. I love the ghost of christmas past, especially when she kicks him. It's a Wonderful Life- Never seen either actually...I think I need to catch up on my classics. I just figure it's a wonderful life is on every year so I can always catch it later. But I love Family Man with Nicholas Cage which is the same basic story. White Christmas- I love jingle all the way, because every parent feels like that looking for specific toys for thier kids, but I love white christmas too, so I'm giving the edge to the only movie made before the 70's that I've seen. :) Other christmas movies: Christmas with the Kranks The Nativity Story Prancer Gremlins (I can't go through a christmas season w/o thinking of this movie) cartoons should be included too: Frosty Rudolph Charlie Brown Christmas The year w/o a santa clause santa claus is coming to town

JohnnyLaRue Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I'd vote but I have not seen most of these movies! Sorry not a movie person. What's worse is of the ones I have seen I only like two. The rest I detest greatly.... As far as missing movies goes... Yes Virginia There is a Santa Claus should be on the list. O! and the Muppet X-mas movies. The one where all the Muppets get together and the Sesame Street one where Bert trades his paper clips for a soap dish for Ernies rubber duckie and Ernie trades in his rubber duckie for a box for berts paper clips.
