BlackFridayFan
It seems that these ads, along with a few others, seem to be better guarded than the gold deposited at Fort Knox!! How is it possible for them to do this? I can't help but wonder. Edited November 19, 2008 by BlackFridayFan grammatical
wx4svr
I think they just don't send it out to anyone. Maybe only let certain people look at it. I live about 20 miles from Fort Knox. lol... there's nothing in it now BTW.
KBsDarling
maybe there is one copy sitting on the CEO's desk and they will fax that in the AM to stores and just xerox copies. The ad in the paper will just say "get your list at the door" what i dont understand is why the ads that have leaked and are floating around (none have floated past me I am so out of the know) but are still no-no to the major deal sites? I get that GD can get in trouble and that isnt what I am asking I mean WM has to know there are copies floating around so why not just tell GD go ahead instead of losing time I know w/ each day I re-peruse the Kohls ad i am getting more and more ok with skipping WM. I can see and plan on it from Kohls. If WM wants to play this "its my toy and I wont share" game fine...my money will be welcomed at Kohls I am sure. I know that they have given the ok to release it Sunday but the 3-4 days leading up to vacation can be busy. I would like to have game plan blocked out before that so its tempting me to just plan elsewhere and if WM has something they can be a last stop...just dont get the gag order once it has been leaked anywhere wow I rambled LOL
jakesmommy403
I have to say I see your point about WM. The longer I have the Target and Kohls ads to look at, the more I wonder if I will actually find anything in the WM ad worth going for. We'll see. I'm still confidant that they'll have some pretty amazing deals.
Rose0426
I've seen the TRU add, but we only had 1 copy in the managers office. Honestly I don't even remember what was in it except for the Air Hogs Havoc Heli Laser Battle - Havoc vs. Yellow Stinger for $45-50??. Nothing really in it for me this year as my boys are older. bigjimslade
I am only gussing at this point BUT the ads maybe be printed in one location insted of several and under armed security hired by WM. Then they may over night the ads to different locations several days before it is to be released. I work in the security world (trained in Israeli security and Israeli dignitary protection and own a security firm) and have done armed film escorts where I have had to travel with motion picture film from the processing plant all the way to a film premire and then back to the studio vault. The film could not leave my side. I even had to take it in the restroom with me when I had to use the restroom. Big companies like WM and others employ former federal agents as directors of security so they may deploy security measures like the film studios do. dswright
The WM ad is not a secret, it is out there. Brad does not want to test the waters in regards to WM's up front warning, and we should respect him for that. As for the other ads, I spent 5 years with mailroom access at a daily newspaper. The retailers have a deadline to get the ads on site for packaging, that deadline used to be the Friday before Thanksgiving for Thanksgiving Day insertion, I am not sure what it is now. Any ad not leaked should be on site at the newspaper warehouses by this weekend.
KBsDarling
i didnt mean i feel Brad should test waters. Sorry if it came out that way. I just mean that every year they get all up in arms about its secrecy and it never works. It always ends up out there. So why fight it...heck make it a 25 days of walmart and release it 1 page at a time or something...I just think they would be better off to embrace that we want to know so we can plan to go there then expend so much on trying (and always failing) to keep it a secret in todays age

BlackFridayFan
Interesting, Jim. Hey, Jim, by the way, a couple of Oscar questions: 1. How does "Wizard of Oz" lose to "Gone With the Wind" in '39? (should have tied). 2. How does "E.T." lose to "Gandhi" in '82? (Academy out of touch with the masses?):)
aerosmithgirl
I'm really curious if Toys R Us will have another iTunes promotion with the purchase of an iPod touch.
