Thumper501 Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 We are having a party for about 15 people. What would be a good meal to serve for 15 people? I don't have the largest of kitchens to be cooking in . And I don't want to do turkey cause our party is about a week and a half after Thanksgiving. Any suggestions?
Rockfordmom Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Turkey with different sides than T-day, ham, roast beef (sandwiches) is also easy to do for a big crowd.
floridasun5 Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Why not just have hors d'oeuvres, or a bunch of different finger food types? Or, if you really want to have a sit down dinner, you could do anything from a big pasta/italian type meal to be different from Thanksgiving, some other type of meats, gourmet pizzas, etc. All depends on how you want your party to flow and how casual/fancy you want it to be. Heck, even if you dont want to cook, or dont have the room, have it catered with store or restaurant prepared meals that you just take the lids off of! :)
dealluvr Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 (edited) borrow a few crockpots and do a mexican buffet.aldi had flour tortillas for cheap also beans are cheap for nachos and enchiladas. you could put cheese sauce in 1 crockpot for nachos taco meat in another , maybe shredded chicken in another this could be fun dont forget the flan Edited November 13, 2008 by dealluvr add
Rockfordmom Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 and mastacholi or lasagna is always easy for a big crowd
booga12345 Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I second the mexican buffet. For Christmas Eve we always do tostada's. Just put some beans in a crock pot, chile sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese. You can go taquitos, nachos, quesadillas. It is all finger food and would be super easy.
vsa3janes Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 The food I choose would depend on the type of party and time of day. Will you have entertainment? Will you play games? Is it in the day, evening or night? Do you have room for everyone to sit or will they balance a plate? If they balance a plate I would make it simple to eat foods. If they can sit you could make it a fuller meal.
Scanner420 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Baked Ziti. It's easy and just about everyone eats it. You can get a couples bags of Caesar Salad, dressing, croutons and Dinner rolls. You can do small pastries for desserts. Don't forget the beer!
cassgurlie04 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 We are having my side of the family get together on the 14th of December and were doing a wide selection of just snacks and appitizers. My kitchen is not that big and for that matter neither is my house.
stacyk9 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I was talking with my hair dresser last night and they are also doing a late Thanksgiving and she is doing a "picnic" theme. Fried chicken, baked beans, potato salad, etc. She's also doing a ham on the side. And the good thing is, all of that can be bought, pre-made!
angel-too Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Being that your kitchen/house isnt that big I like the simple yet tasty idea of a big pasta dish, mostacholi, a nice salad and rolls. You could add a side of mt. balls or italian sausage, but a big pot of most. would be quick, simple and not take alot of space.
