My 1st store was typically Walmart. my last run in there they opened at 5 and I was out packing my car at 5:18.:gdrunner:

Typically we hit up Walmart first since they open before Target. We are usually out by 5:15 (grab and go) and over at Target by 5:20 or so and waiting for them to open up.:gdcar:

At Target it takes a bit longer but we usually arn't in there longer than 15 minutes (20 at the most).

Then we hit up Best Buy and one year we stood in line for an hour and a half, but last year we only waited 30 minutes.

I posted about this last year I was so proud. Last year at walmart, my best friend and I scoped out the door busters we want, perched ourselves at the roped off area and when they let us shop we grabbed the 5 things we wanted between us and headed to the check-out. The time on our receipt said 5:03am woohoo!

Last year I don't think this was available at my BB, but could explain it again or give me the link. Thanks.

GD has a Best Buy section and the link is below. I have posted an updated copies of the PSA program and the BB ticket system. They will be updated through the holiday. You can also post your BB questions there!

Last year, it was CC at 5:10 a.m., Target at 6:15 a.m., BB at 6:40 a.m., Chick Fil A for a Breakfast Break around 7:15 a.m., Sears at 7:40 a.m., Sam's Club at 9 a.m. and K-Mart at 9:30 a.m. Got all of my Christmas Shopping done on that day by about 9:45 a.m.. All it takes is planning and scoping the deals on here. I don't plan to include WM for BF this year, either.

  • 1 month later...

Last year, I didn't actually buy anything at my first store--I just wanted (a) into the mall, and (B) the snowglobe for my sister who wanted one but was watching my kids. So it was probably all of 30 seconds. Into the store, get snowglobe, high-tail it to the exit, head to KB Toys.

I think my time there (KB, the first store where I bought something) was under 20 min.

So I think we should meet up because this is exactly my answer!

LOL! BF is all about the numbers (both prices and time). If you take longer than 15 or so minutes at Walmart you should expect to stand in extremely long lines! Same goes for Target but since WM is bigger than Target the line waiting will be a bit longer.

Also in the town we do our BF shopping, WM is about a half-mile from Target, since it opens an hour earlier everyone stops at WM b/f Target. So you kinda have to be one of the first out so you can be on of the first at Target!

First year that I did Black Friday. Went to Circuit City which opened at 5 am First got everything I wanted wasn't getting anything that you needed a ticket for. I was out of there by 5:10. Then went to Staples and did the same thing when they opened at 6am and was out by 6:20 then from there and went to Officemax which opened at 7am and was out by 7:30 am. Then we took our time at Walmart because it was our last stop before going to breakfast. What helped was all the stores where close together so there wasn't much travel time in between. That was our best Black Friday but I still love going every year. Edited by skytrain

I normally don't rush in and out...

At Target in 2006 my friend and I shopped for a while. We got our items we wanted then I got some bows, Christmas cards, Christmas music CD's, some grocery items, hand soap. We were in no rush. I think we left the store around 7:30am or so...the sun was up when we walked out.

Then we jotted over to Kohl's, went for breakfast then home.

RECORD TIME: 5 minutes in store! My quickest time in a store on BF was two years ago at BestBuy. It was my first year of actually showing up the night before but I was out to get a laptop, desktop and some misc items. I got in line at probably 11pm or so and there were about 10 people in front of me. GREAT!!! It was very cold that year and I was not prepared so after an hour or so I called the wife and asked here to bring down a sleeping bag or blankets. She apparenetly went back to sleep because an hour later still freezing my ass off. There were only maybe 5 people in line behind me now. I couldn't stand it anymore so I drove back home and got a sleeping bag some hand warmers and thicker clothes, back to Best Buy I go. Now I am about 30-40 people back, apparently everyone waited til I left to jump in line. I was still hoping that I could get what I wanted.... hours later the laptop, desktop and most ever other item tickets were handed out and did not make it to me. All I got for my wait was a mp3 player for my sister. Once I got in and found the mp3 player I was the first person to the register.

First ever Black Friday was Walmart at 5am. Got out of there by 5:30 or so due to the crowd, it was nuts. Circuit City every other year. Last year I was most impressed with their organization of the checkout lanes. I grabbed the DVDs I wanted and was out of there at 5:00am cause they opened about 15 min early. I still had an hour to wait for Target, which was no worry since there are like 5 Targets within a 25mi radius out there. haha.
