zim05 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 My 1st store was typically Walmart. my last run in there they opened at 5 and I was out packing my car at 5:18.Typically we hit up Walmart first since they open before Target. We are usually out by 5:15 (grab and go) and over at Target by 5:20 or so and waiting for them to open up.At Target it takes a bit longer but we usually arn't in there longer than 15 minutes (20 at the most). Then we hit up Best Buy and one year we stood in line for an hour and a half, but last year we only waited 30 minutes.
EmConMom Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I posted about this last year I was so proud. Last year at walmart, my best friend and I scoped out the door busters we want, perched ourselves at the roped off area and when they let us shop we grabbed the 5 things we wanted between us and headed to the check-out. The time on our receipt said 5:03am woohoo!
racerfan Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 (edited) 3 years ago my sister and I camped out at BB. We were there for 3 things. She went on line to checkout as soon as we walked in and I grabbed the things. We were loading our car at 5:20. Store opemed at 5 Edited August 13, 2008 by racerfan Additional info
cassgurlie04 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Walmart for me as well, last year store opened at 5 and i was out at 5:13 dropped by my house which is all of 2 mins from walmart and then over to the mall by 5:30
sherril Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 last year I was at WM because we finally havea 24 hr WM. I had everything i my cart and was at the checkout at 5am and in my van driving out of their parking lot by 515
peifgirl Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 usually its WM but after last year we didn't go there on BF. There ad sucked and we didn't want any of it. So we hit old navy first and got the free MP3 player and was out of there by 5:05
bigjimslade Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 5:10am at BB since I use the PSA service. They also give me free food.
shopping mom Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 5:10am at BB since I use the PSA service. They also give me free food. Last year I don't think this was available at my BB, but could explain it again or give me the link. Thanks.
bigjimslade Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Last year I don't think this was available at my BB, but could explain it again or give me the link. Thanks.GD has a Best Buy section and the link is below. I have posted an updated copies of the PSA program and the BB ticket system. They will be updated through the holiday. You can also post your BB questions there! http://forums.gottadeal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=75
fairydustcrissy Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 5:10am at BB since I use the PSA service. They also give me free food. They wont let us use the PAs on BF. They are used to man teh stations at my store. I was so excited when they introduced that, I called immediately to et a BF appt that year, and was told too bad, lol.
popweaverhdtv Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Last year, it was CC at 5:10 a.m., Target at 6:15 a.m., BB at 6:40 a.m., Chick Fil A for a Breakfast Break around 7:15 a.m., Sears at 7:40 a.m., Sam's Club at 9 a.m. and K-Mart at 9:30 a.m. Got all of my Christmas Shopping done on that day by about 9:45 a.m.. All it takes is planning and scoping the deals on here. I don't plan to include WM for BF this year, either.
dgleason Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I don't know exact times but 3 years ago I couldn't get off work. I made it to 5 stores - made purchases at 4 of them. And was into work 1/2 away only 5 minutes late at 8:05am.
outnumbered Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Last year, I didn't actually buy anything at my first store--I just wanted (a) into the mall, and ( the snowglobe for my sister who wanted one but was watching my kids. So it was probably all of 30 seconds. Into the store, get snowglobe, high-tail it to the exit, head to KB Toys. I think my time there (KB, the first store where I bought something) was under 20 min.

wx4svr Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 In line at Best Buy at 7 or 8 on Thursday Night with my friends. RUN at 5. Back in SUV at 5:30-ish. Off to Circuit City (opened at 6 here for some reason) RUN at 6 Back in SUV at 6:15. Repeat. :)
kmbrly Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Two years ago at Walmart- got there at 9pm Thursday night, first in line (no one else showed up until after 1am). Doors opened at 5am, I was checking out of there by 5:05am.
zim05 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 So I think we should meet up because this is exactly my answer!LOL! BF is all about the numbers (both prices and time). If you take longer than 15 or so minutes at Walmart you should expect to stand in extremely long lines! Same goes for Target but since WM is bigger than Target the line waiting will be a bit longer. Also in the town we do our BF shopping, WM is about a half-mile from Target, since it opens an hour earlier everyone stops at WM b/f Target. So you kinda have to be one of the first out so you can be on of the first at Target!
skytrain Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 (edited) First year that I did Black Friday. Went to Circuit City which opened at 5 am First got everything I wanted wasn't getting anything that you needed a ticket for. I was out of there by 5:10. Then went to Staples and did the same thing when they opened at 6am and was out by 6:20 then from there and went to Officemax which opened at 7am and was out by 7:30 am. Then we took our time at Walmart because it was our last stop before going to breakfast. What helped was all the stores where close together so there wasn't much travel time in between. That was our best Black Friday but I still love going every year. Edited September 23, 2008 by skytrain fixing the grammatical errors
LondonAtDark Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I normally don't rush in and out... At Target in 2006 my friend and I shopped for a while. We got our items we wanted then I got some bows, Christmas cards, Christmas music CD's, some grocery items, hand soap. We were in no rush. I think we left the store around 7:30am or so...the sun was up when we walked out. Then we jotted over to Kohl's, went for breakfast then home.
Cheri0113 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 We usually hit Toys R Us first but since my kids are getting older and there isn't alot of Toys R Us doorbusters that are for older kids, I might have to change where we hit first. I'm hoping that Wal-Mart still price matches this year.
citrixgirl Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 jcpenny grab the snowglobe and go.... total time in store 3 mins.....lol
arci122 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 jcpenny grab the snowglobe and go.... total time in store 3 mins.....lolYah, I'm with her. Total time out of car, grab globe and return to car is about 2.75 min. (Hey, that is what the fire lane is for)
kboyts Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Best time was a few years back at BestBuy the last year of the McDonalds best buy bucks promo. In and out of BB with a hometheater subwoofer, 5 speaker surround system, microwave and 200 DVD+R's in under 15 minutes.
lwildey Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 RECORD TIME: 5 minutes in store! My quickest time in a store on BF was two years ago at BestBuy. It was my first year of actually showing up the night before but I was out to get a laptop, desktop and some misc items. I got in line at probably 11pm or so and there were about 10 people in front of me. GREAT!!! It was very cold that year and I was not prepared so after an hour or so I called the wife and asked here to bring down a sleeping bag or blankets. She apparenetly went back to sleep because an hour later still freezing my ass off. There were only maybe 5 people in line behind me now. I couldn't stand it anymore so I drove back home and got a sleeping bag some hand warmers and thicker clothes, back to Best Buy I go. Now I am about 30-40 people back, apparently everyone waited til I left to jump in line. I was still hoping that I could get what I wanted.... hours later the laptop, desktop and most ever other item tickets were handed out and did not make it to me. All I got for my wait was a mp3 player for my sister. Once I got in and found the mp3 player I was the first person to the register.
genoandkiddo Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 We always go to Walmart first, for no other reason than to get out of the cold and walk around. Then it really depends on what store has what. But typically we are finished by 11 am or 12. Most of the time we spend between 15 to 30 minutes in each store.
Kymmber Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Last year we hit kohls for their 4am opening, was out by 4:09 with EVERYTHING we needed and more, at Big Lots by 6am for their opening out of there by 6:05 then to Target where the line were still pretty short and they still had everything I needed... the only one I didn't hit first thing was Walmart!!
chrissy1979c Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 I did the same thing with JcPenny. Got front row parking first thing opening, got globe, circled the area, and walked back out, and headed to Walmart! Was total maybe 3-3 1/2 minutes!
MikeyBFTrooper Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 First ever Black Friday was Walmart at 5am. Got out of there by 5:30 or so due to the crowd, it was nuts. Circuit City every other year. Last year I was most impressed with their organization of the checkout lanes. I grabbed the DVDs I wanted and was out of there at 5:00am cause they opened about 15 min early. I still had an hour to wait for Target, which was no worry since there are like 5 Targets within a 25mi radius out there. haha.
