Maybe it is just me, but in a lot of threads I have read lately, people just seem to be being downright mean. If you have an opinion about something, I think you can state it more nicely/politely- what have we done to you?. We all are on here looking for deals, and if you had a bad experience about something it is nice to know that, but you don't have to personally attack people if they like or don't like a product. It is getting to the point that I don't want to write anything (I have only had a couple of not nice sounding things I guess) but reading a lot of these have shown other people's comments being replied to very rudely also. :(

This is one thing that I LOVE about gottadeal. Most of the people on here are nice and willing to help other posters. I have lurked around on other websites similar to this one. I pretty much stay away from them, (except for the occasional lurk) they are constantly bashing each other. Of course, we will always have a few "bad apples" on gottadeal, but compared to the other guys, we have the best people, and the best mods, hands down!

I have to agree with the poster above...after spending the last 5 years on various "deals" boards this is the friendliest one I have found. The "problem" with the written word is that it is easy to misunderstand posts...this is why I overuse the emotioncons :D:D

I think the most frustarting thing is when somebody posts on somebody's deal post "that's not really a deal." It is up to each person what a good deal is. If somebody posted they found a Coach purse on sale for $100 I would be excited. Somebody else may come and say that is way too much for a purse. Just because it's not a 'deal' to you doesn't mean it's not to someone else. Sorry to get on my high horse but I agree with you. We should all just get along or move along:D

I think this is true of alot of the post. You can not read intent or understand individual humor.

I COMPLETELY agree with this, we are all different and have different tastes and budgets and you never know when someone else will find something useful. If a thread does not appeal to me I don't read it, but I refuse to be a thread crapper.

But alas, it is bound to happen as Gottadeal grows and attracts more people, that is part of the growing pains :yup:

And some of us collect smileys like an addiction. Who could that be? http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Hmmm/thinkin.gif

I Love Your Smileys and often read your post to see them, they are humorous and always on point.:)

I often will delete what I've begun to type if it offers nothing helpful to the conversation... hard to imagine that I can hold my tongue (type) but I do. I also stop reading the threads that become big arguments.

All I can say is, if I am one of the guilty parties, I apologize. I will learn to play nice. I'm not sure if I am guilty, I thought I took out most of my frustration on my husband...If I'm not one of the guilty parties, this message will self-distruct in ten seconds.

I think my thread has gone from a constructive group of people helping me and supporting me, to a fight sometimes because of a few people who feel the need to threaten and personally attack the other posters...and that saddens me. I think the moderators have done a great job in there (and i must admit that i never even thought to bring them in, but whoever did, thanks!). It's Ok to disagree with someone, but it's not ok to personally attack their views on a subject just because you do not share them, or to ask for a thread to be locked down...I think we're all on here to share and benefit from others wisdom and experiences, and I think it's a shame when a few people pick fights and ruin it for everyone else. hold on...i have an emoticon for this...:gd_soapbo:gd_twocen

GottaDeal has gotta be...lol...the most friendly site that I have found it is taken care of very well by our mods...thanks mods :D

There have been very few threads that I have noticed these kinds of remarks on but I am seeing more and more of them since November...:(

how do u all get the nice signs??

If you are referring to the I Agree Smiley, here you go:

When you are making a post/replying to one, over to the right side

is a set of smileys, at the bottom of them it says [More], click on that. Now, it does take a while to load, as there are ton of smileys available, and the I Agree smiley is available in there. I hope this helps. :)

The reason I like GD so well is because there is very little of that. Other sites have tons of useless posts.

I think every year between November-January, there will be more snide-ness. There is a huge influx of new users, many of whom probably frequent other boards, and are used to that.

Once it gets down to regulars, it will decrease. Even then, there are posts that can be taken the wrong way.

Just like our Moms told us "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all":yup:

I bought a tshirt this summer at the beach that says "If you can't say anything nice, just say it anyway."

I DO appreciate all the great deals that I have gotten on this forum. I know that I am supposed to be saving money, but I seem to be spending more money so that I can save money on deals. Makes perfect sense, right? My girls loved so many of the great deals that I got at Christmas. They especially loved those personalized bears!

I must have missed these posts, lol. I only ever had one person that seemed rude to me and they were banned shortly after I started actively posting here, lmao. Made me happy! So normally if people seem to be rude often just sit back and wait and see, they should be gone soon with any luck, rofl!

LOL. Here's Jen: If they're not nice, just keep yourself so busy shopping that you don't notice them and eventually they'll disappear! :P

I agree that folks here are nice. I hope I am one of them. I try to be.

I was frequenting another board. The new members took over and were being more mean than helpful. Posting strings of threads of their deals and dissing other folks.

I just jumped right in here and have felt very comfy. Think I am going to stay a while.

I just wanted to add, I hope I didn't make anyone feel like I was saying I didnt like gottadeal because I definitely do, it was more so people will think about what they are saying and how they are saying it! And I agree, the smileys do help keep the tone nice- it is hard when you cant see someone's face. I am sure it is a choice group that is rude, pretty much the same everywhere!

I have found that most people on here are very very friendly!! I try to make sure I keep my posts in a happy tone.:yup: You have to remember that you will always find that one person that seems to enjoy making other people feel bad about themselves. I like that I can come on here and people seem to be in a good mood most of the time. ;)

I am so glad you said this! I feel the same way.

The majority of people here are super nice, but it is awful to post a deal or read about one, that you think is good, only to have some ungrateful person slam it because......

"there is no coupon code", "what! no free shipping?", etc, etc, blah...blah...blah!

People, if you don't think it is a deal move on...or try posting a good deal yourself.
