That's where I am... All my kids would think this was cool, as the moon has special meaning to them--but I'm at the end of my budget for them.

We bought this for our son last year (when he was 6) and he LOVES it! He uses it as a nightlight. It looks rather realistic (especially when the room is dark) and is great for kids interested in the solar system. It comes with a remote control, so you can either turn it on to continuous cycle, set it to light sensor, or use the remote.

On the downside: it does eat through the batteries. I suggest paying for rechargeable ones. It really is a nice gift. I paid $29 and don't regret it (though would have preferred a lower price). One of my better "toy" purchases.

Ds12 has it in his room. He really likes it. You hang it on the wall and it has a remote that you can control the settings with.

You can keep it as a full moon or have it cycle through the phases. It comes with a cd but we have never used it so I can't comment on that.

It is also on a timer so they can leave it on while falling asleep and it will shut off automatically after a certain amount of time.
