ronbob44 Posted November 25, 2007 Share Posted November 25, 2007 I went to walmart this morning to pick up a few essentials for the house and also in the hope I might have a shot at the PS3 deal with the free movies. I arrived around 0715 (45 minutes before sale began) and there were only 30-40 people in the entire store. I hit the Mickey D's for breakfast and picked up my items and when i went back to electronics there were only 2 other folks in front of me waiting for the deal. All of were allowed to go to the -site-to-store section and pick out our movies (great selection- got all the die hards, casino royale- many great movies-including pixar films) and was checked out with the PS3. With a free copy of motorstorm! 2 yr service plan (which doesn't begin until after the sony warranty runs out in 1 year) for $28.88 and I feel like I got the deal of the year. Now I'll send in for my other 5 free movies from Sony and I'll be an even happier camper. I already had a 10 month old 60GB PS3 which I'll be listing on ebay with my old copy of motorstorm and a movie or two which should sell for almost what I paid today for the new one today. The store manager was shocked more folks weren't in line for this one as he says it may be the best deal he's seen Wally world have in his 17 years with the company. We figured it helped that it was 38 degrees and raining here today (when folks in South texas see temperatures below 40 and precipitation they start praying because they think the world is ending...I've never lived anywhere where folks are so afraid of "cold" weather but that is another story in and of itself)He also added they will be honoring this sale through tomorrow at midnight so when they get another shipment later today those will be for sale also. This means if you failed to get the deal today don't hesitate to try again tomorrow. Best deal I've ever got at WalMart- bar none! Gotta jump on this one if you have a chance. My store the offer was the new 40GB which is NOT backwards compatible with PS2 games... Thanks! (I got the 60gb because my Kmart didn't have the 80!) mtsuboy Posted November 25, 2007 Share Posted November 25, 2007 I was surprised when I got to work and no one was waiting. I almost jumped on this deal but already have a PS3. Our last PS3 sold later in the day. The family that bought it didn't realize that they were entitled to the 10 free blu ray DVD's. Man, were they ever happy when I told them. Our Walmart only received one of the 80g PS3s (even though it said min. 2 per store) so we just waited around and it was ours. Havic Posted November 25, 2007 Share Posted November 25, 2007 This is a really good deal. I seen it last night but I took Wal-mart up on the Free $50 Gift card when you buy a Xbox 360. On Black Friday but I Did a little better than just the $50 I went to our 24 hr walmart and they had the xbox arcade. So I figured the one about 5 miles away would only have that one too. So I got it but then after seeing online that the deal was for all xbox 360's I went to the wal-mart further away and exchanged the arcade release for the 360 premium. The Customer service rep did the exchange and then gave me another gift card not taken the current one I had. I then asked if I could use the one that came with the deal on the exchange which would drop the price from 349 to 299 Then they took the money from the exchange off and it was 279 So that left me with a balance of $20. I then proceeded and used the first $50 Gift card and paid the remaining balance of $20. Ah well! I've been told the 60GB is the best version out there for backwards compatibility..so I guess I'll just keep the one I have (BTW we buy MOST new release movies the DAY they come out so I am not sure what movies I'd get) AND I DID get my PS3 $100 off at Kmart with the 20% off coupon earlier this month so I cannot complain much !! So check you local walamrt for these 1st generation deals, unless you need a gaming console! In store only. the site still says over $600!
